***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Off topic:
I guessed it from episode 2 or 3, when they were in the diner and Travis saw the waitress.. Gellar wasn't eating anything and the waitress offered only Travis some coffee. Personally, I have a suspicion that Deb might find out about Dexter this season, with all her therapy stuff going on...

On topic:

I really like that tweet about the SGN being in warehouses and ready to launch.. That guy's got a pretty good track record.

What's his name, Levi Johnston?

I think she is going to start piecing it together, and be suspicious, but won't completely find out. They could go many directions with her. She may just quit and ride off into the sunset. Carpenter and Hall were married and got divorced I think, it may be an opportunity to reduce friction on the set. It kind of had the feel of 'I never wanted to be a copy anyway, I just did it to get daddy's attention'.

I was with you when the waitress didn't acknowledge EJO. I don't think they were really trying to hide it, meaning that there is much more coming in the last 3 episodes... you could be right, it could be Deb learning about Dexter's dark passenger.

On topic... I am still rockin' the iPhone 3Gs. I tried to take a couple pics of my dog earlier. He got bored and took a nap while I was waiting on the camera app to load up. Then, since there is no flash, I got a nice black blur when I finally did get to snap a shot. At least iOS 5 cut the speed of the phone in half, so, I have that going for me... which is nice.

I can't wait to get my hands on my Nex. I'm just hoping it comes complete with double data.

One concern I have... My iPhone is annoying me, but, technically, there is not a thing in the world wrong with it. I see a lot of you are nursing phones along as they lie on their death beds. Is the hardware generally that poor compared to apple (is it the OS)? Seems like a lot of issues are with Motos, are those the worst? Sammy's generally better? It's not going to matter, I am still getting the Gnex, just curious.

Am I the only one excited about the ifixit teardown? This is one of the coolest parts of a new device release! Melfas 8000 series touch sensor! Samsung memory! FFC with dedicated buffer memory! Confirmed NFC antenna in battery!

PS: Glad you came back Han

Normally I would agree, but stuff like this bothers me. My Fascinate had poor reception and it is one of the main reasons I want a new phone.

Of course I have no idea where this person was, but the reception doesn't look good.

Damned if Motorola doesn't have great signal, but those bootloaders are prohibative.

However, my last Samsung (the infamous) Omnia (one no less, thank you)
always had great signal, GPS sucked even after we (meaning someone smarter than I and released a hack for it) got it unlocked, but the radio worked just about as well as my DX.

Take it for what it's worth (32 wooden toothpicks and some pocket lint)

:)

Haven't seen the talk but it is something I have been wondering about, spend most of my day in an office with very poor reception, hoping for a good radio.

I believe P3 tweeted that he got another update today and said something about the signal improving.

Edit: Ninja'd

Nah, got the DX day one, no problems. Even going to pass it along to my daughter, with every expectation that it will last her a couple of years, ok maybe at least a year. Treat it well and it treats you well.

You're like... me, except I bought mine in November when it came out. :D

In all honesty ive rarely seen my signal strength be that shade of green for so long. Perhaps its down to poor coverage around here, but ive had no problems dropping calls, struggling to hear people or loosing a data connection at all.

At my house I always had reception issues with AT&T. The iPhone did well but everything else didn't fare so well. When I got the Galaxy S2 I expected to have a poor signal (same as the Captivate & Fascinate) surprisingly the Galaxy S2 had a pretty good signal. I am not sure what changes Samsung made but I can assure you it's improved from the 1st Galaxy series.

Yea, looking back on it, it was obvious, I guess I just wasn't paying enough attention. Deb is getting annoying, I could do without her therapy sessions on the show. I'm sure some major break through is going to happen in the second to last episode, and I can definitely see her leaving, but the drama in her head is taking away from the show for me. It's only a matter of time before she finds out about Dex's dark passenger, she's gotten close a couple times. Honestly, I think she could get transferred/leave for a fresh start in a new city.

On topic - living near/working in Philly, I'm not so worried about the reception issues. Never have been, it's one of the benefits of living by a city. As for the battery, how many of us aren't near an outlet for more than a couple hours? We'll all be fine, once they actually release the phone, that is. I just wish they'd let us find out for ourselves what the issues are.

trust me i would've bought in November..but upgrade wasn't till feb...just means you've been holding on to your OG 4 months longer than me while waiting for the GNex!:D

only a matter of time now!!!

I'd be excited if I understood it like our more technical members. But I'm happy for those of you that do understand it and are excited.

Did your Fascinate drop calls/data connections often or did your "battery usage" readings show you had poor dbm's and/or yellow and red in the graph? Or both :)

My house is in kind of a hole (wireless hole!) and my graph like the one you posted is much worse. It shows barely any green, mostly yellow, and some patches of red or no signal. However, I have yet to drop more than 3-4 calls in the 18+ months I've had the Inc and I never lose 3G data.

iirc you had an Eris (that is when I joined here) as did I and I vividly remember the ocd so many of us took to the dreaded "time without signal" lol. It's funny because I never had dropped calls or data on my Eris.

I know that it affects batt life though.

Welcome back Han! We missed ya'

Prolly this has already been posted, but I just got home from work and haven't had a chance to catch up yet, so here it is. If its true, it is very good news! Lee Johnston is a very reliable/ trustworthy developer for those that don't know...

From Twitter:
@britishturbo: Verizon warehouses have Galaxy Nexus. Launch on December 8th for $299. Just an fyi from what I'm hearing.

Well after the rather downer start of the day, if the 12/8 thing really is happening, I will be pleasantly surprised!!

I think it's a p3 build not an ota, but encouraging nonetheless.

via twitter...

@P3Droid: Well hello update how do you do..Lets have a taste

and subsequent tweets...

@PydePypper: WOOT!!!! Quick thx to my buddy P3 for the file he just sent over. Install done and booting for the first time.

@PydePypper: We have a winner updated and fully booted like a charm. Lets hope the radio update helps on some better battery life still

@PydePypper: @P3Droid Agreed...... seems to have better signal strength from wht I've seen while checking at home on the past updates. finally under -100

Now since P3 sent the file to PP it might be possible that it is P3's build but based of off P3's tweet he sounded a bit suprised of the update...IMO it's not a P3 build and that the update improved connectivity according to PP but we'll have to wait and see what it does to the battery...

just sayin'...
