Han! When you left us you wrote a huge essay.

When you came back all you said was "okay". Where was the pizazz? The heart?

Good to have you back! Just wasn't the same without you

OK. See you kids tomorrow.

Miami lost in hoops despite a great effort from Freshman Shane Larkin who I watched play a lot in HS (Brother-in-law was his coach). If anyone cares or has any doubt, the Larkin family is top-notch. Barry and his wife have taken in an extra kid who needed a huge break in life and all of the sudden, his grades are great and he's looking like he may have a chance to go to college and play hoops too. Anyway, way, way off topic, just happy that Shane is doing well and wanted to pass along a story about a Hall of Fame athlete making a real difference in someone's life.

Hey it's the way we roll here. We're up, we're down, repeat and rinse :D

Ain't that the truth. And it figures Han would rejoin us after such a crappy start of the day. :) We should have known...VZW may not superman us with the nexus, but at least Han did when we were having one of our darker days! :)

via twitter...

@P3Droid: Well hello update how do you do..Lets have a taste

and subsequent tweets...

@PydePypper: WOOT!!!! Quick thx to my buddy P3 for the file he just sent over. Install done and booting for the first time.

@PydePypper: We have a winner updated and fully booted like a charm. Lets hope the radio update helps on some better battery life still

@PydePypper: @P3Droid Agreed...... seems to have better signal strength from wht I've seen while checking at home on the past updates. finally under -100

Now since P3 sent the file to PP it might be possible that it is P3's build but based of off P3's tweet he sounded a bit suprised of the update...IMO it's not a P3 build and that the update improved connectivity according to PP but we'll have to wait and see what it does to the battery...

just sayin'...

You left out the tweet from this morning where he had a new build he was dying to flash but had to go to work. That's what he's talking about. He just has an obtuse way of saying things sometimes. Either way, we're both in agreement that getting things ironed out is great...no need to be argumentative...:)

And now my phone is randomly not holding a charge, man I hate my Fascinate!!!

Funny how that works. My Inc acted up one day and I said "alright that's it, time to go, must get a new phone". Then I flashed and all was well. Are you r00t?

Besides mediocre gps my buddies Fascinate has been a stellar phone since rooted.

Did your Fascinate drop calls/data connections often or did your "battery usage" readings show you had poor dbm's and/or yellow and red in the graph? Or both :)

My house is in kind of a hole (wireless hole!) and my graph like the one you posted is much worse. It shows barely any green, mostly yellow, and some patches of red or no signal. However, I have yet to drop more than 3-4 calls in the 18+ months I've had the Inc and I never lose 3G data.

iirc you had an Eris (that is when I joined here) as did I and I vividly remember the ocd so many of us took to the dreaded "time without signal" lol. It's funny because I never had dropped calls or data on my Eris.

I know that it affects batt life though.

The Fascinate didn't get Gingerbread so I don't know about graphs. :(

I've mostly stayed in the -90 and up dBm with my Fascinate and 3G has been horrible since I moved here. My average download speeds have been in 100kbps range with the absolute best being about 535kbps. The Rezound has been around -80 to -90 dBm in the same areas and even on 3G my average speeds have been 2 Mbps. 4G speeds have been 8 Mbps on average with the top being 32 Mbps. Overall, I've now seen solid signal and usable speeds and I won't go back. :D

I am still rocking an eris here (thats around when I joined AF too). The signal on my phone has almost always been reported by the phone as less than others around me (DInc, OG Droid, & Droid 2) usually by 2-3 bars even after radio updates, rooting and roming. Some phones never seem to get very good reception, I think with the Eris it was part software but mostly hardware. That said, I have not had a ton of dropped calls over the past two years so for what its worth / based on what I have seen android does not always have the best signal reporting but that will not mean that actual use will always be affected. (Again my experience, I live in central new york where VZ is generally very good)

Good point...didn't mean to seem argumentative just looking at it from a different point of view!!! All Good! :)

If the 8th really happens, then I guess it doesn't matter that there was no preorder this week. But still verizon, if you're going to sell it on the 8th WHY WHY WHY don't you just tell us you'll sell it on the 8th. You'd save all of your CSRs the trouble of constantly fielding release date questions and we wouldn't hate you nearly as much.

Love how you call an avatar "her" :p

Ha! Well, tonight will be "them".......

What kind of scared me on this review was when he said the GNex wasn't the most user friendly especially since this would be my first android phone. I hope I won't be getting in over my head.

OT
Anyone watch Parenthood tonight? Great show!

You will be fine. It is not hard at all.

I just saw a Verizon Christmas commercial, they were still advertising the Samsung Charge and Stratosphere, so maybe they are pushing to release the GNex for next quarter sales...

Ahh I see so unrooted Fas?

My Inc gets -90 to -96 dbm inside the house. However, I don't have data/voice issues. sumsalty said the word I was looking for earlier "signal reporting". I guess what I was trying to say is my old obsession with signal dbm's was without purpose (not implying you are obsessing here).

Those 3G speeds with the Fas are slow. Glad to hear the Rez is performing well and I totally understand how you wouldn't go back :)

I went back and I miss 4G
