maybe its for rooted Gnex hope so i don't need to root and don't mind paying for tethering

If ICS is like Gingerbread and that damn Mobile Hotspot app is on there, root does not help. On the D3 to get wifi hotspot to work, you had to hack the radio, but we cannot go into that here.

Come on . . . this is Android we're talking about. Do you REALLY think that the developers at XDA or elsewhere will not get a working wifi tether going for this phone?

It's not even released to us here stateside yet and look at the hacks already.

:rolleyes: and shakes head.

That's what you would think... Android - yes. VZW- nope. From what I know, at least on the D3, wifi tether will not work on Gingerbread, without a radio hack. I will tweet P3 and ask if Mobile hotpsot is going to be on the phone.

Excerpt of my twitter conversation with @PydePypper this morning (for what it's worth)...

Me:
Morning all... Sadly, the #GalaxyNexus is rapidly becoming #vaporware... @VerizonWireless @VZWSupport @VZWnews

@PydePypper:
@PerCompLLC Nah.... just to much bad info went around which has people upset. Was never coming as soon as thought in the 1st place

Me:
@PydePypper @Tech_Addiction Yeah, I know that it was all rumors... But the real question is, will we see it by the end of the year?

@PydePypper:
@PerCompLLC @Tech_Addiction Unless disaster strikes YES you will for sure see it before Xmas

Me:
@PydePypper @Tech_Addiction You already have a test device, yes?

@PydePypper:
@PerCompLLC @Tech_Addiction I do in fact have a Nexus in my possession currently.

Me:
@PydePypper @Tech_Addiction I've followed you and @P3Droid 's tweets so I knew that you did. You have a VZW device, no?

@PydePypper:
@PerCompLLC @Tech_Addiction @P3Droid Yep mine is for VZW service. Left GSM services yrs ago and won't look back.

So.... anything new? I've been dealing with this all afternoon

FML. My poor car. :( at least I made it out with little more than a scratch and a sore neck.

Thank god your OK! That looks brand new. I have a Fusion sport, same body style as that.

Good morning from Portland, OR. .......still nothing, I see......little voice in my head saying, "Let's move along here folks,.....there's nothing to see here.".....can I say crap????

This was brought up a couple of hundred pages ago, but there is more information on the CarrierIQ spyware that apparently is getting installed on lot of android phones. Apparently some verizon phones come with it installed, but I haven't been able to find a list yet.

BUSTED! Secret app on millions of phones logs key taps ? The Register

Here is one of the older news reports
Verizon, Sprint Using CarrierIQ Rootkits On Devices - Capable of Tracking Everything, Difficult to Detect and Remove | DSLReports.com, ISP Information

There is an app that you can download from the dev (TrevE) that found the CIQ spyware, you do need to be rooted to use it.

You can find the app HERE.

Haha, sorry. How about this. On the bright side, they probably have a release Pre-approved, just need to put in a date and its done. Phones are at the warehouse already staged per britishturbo, so they should be set up to move quickly if they want to :)

Much better!

It has to be for rooted wifi tether bc if you look at the vzw comparison sheet with the GNex on it you can tether up to 10 devices while on 4g.

Had it about a year and a half. Great car. I may get another one if it gets totalled haven't decided yet.

It's Verizon fault.. if they would have released the Nexus you would have been at home playing with it... :D

JK of coarse..

The RAZR is a disaster. It isn't selling....

If Verizon is having dismal sales then bringing on the GNex could only help, not hurt, sales. Also sales of individual phones hurt the manufacturer much more then the carrier. Moto sales and fourth quarter numbers are going to be hurt with lack of RAZR sales, Verizon only cares about getting people onto contracts, which brings me back to point one.

The reason they would push back the GNex to boost Q1 numbers would only be if Verizon's December numbers are much better then expected, not worse.

Can't quite fully tell in this picture but if that motor is totaled then it probably will end up being totaled. I agree, it is an amazing car, very comfortable, great quality, and power:fuel consumption ratio.

This is true assuming Verizon doesn't advertise/market. The RAZR is being heavily marketed by VZ. Millions of $$$ lost on poor sales is my guess...
