50gb free storage for lg

Here's the message that pops up on my LG Optimus V running CM7.2 RC0 after making a new account :D.

Thanks man :D

eh I have the 50 gb for my TouchPad already and I hardly ever use it. Without a desktop syncing app for free, it has no use to me. Plus, I'm on Linux so finding one that works on here is rare. DropBox literally works on EVERYTHING and syncs for free. I'm good with that.

Thanks for the heads-up. 50GB is good, but there are restrictions of 10GB bandwidth (per month? upload, download, or both? I couldn't find any info on their website) and maximum file size of 100MB for free accounts.

Wow, what in the world would they need a persons cell phone number for, unless there doing something shady. Using the enticement of something free to make money off selling your info?

I forgot about Titanium Backup's Dropbox sync feature, so I can't switch to Box just yet. I'll use it as a backup for Dropbox until Titanium offers Box syncing also.

I'll try it and see for myself. If they ask for my cell number in order to get the free 50GB of storage I'll let you know. EDIT: Was not asked to give cellphone # , at least not on the phone side. Don't have laptop. NoNameFace, at what point were you asked for your cellphone #?

I had thought that they just wanted the make and model of my phone, but I got an error stating invalid phone number. If you sign up from your phone, perhaps they are auto-snagging your phone number that way, but you're just not seeing it? Dunno, it doesn't feel right to me.

Oh, I do most everything from my PC since I'm in front of it almost all day.

Hey AO, I'm just asking a general question. I'm not directing any anger or ill will toward anyone here. The fact of matter is, I thought the 50GB of free storage was great until I discovered that the app won't install on the sd card :) Then I realized that the Memory Manager app from San Disk works perfectly with box, so problem solved :)

I read this https://www.box.com/static/html/privacy.html and have come to the conclusion that phone number is not needed unless for confirmation of manufacturer and model of phone.

When you sign up through the app it can verify your model is LG so I'm assuming that's why they asked on your pc to verify its for LG as this is only for LG owners.

I signed up via the android app and it didn't ask me for my phone number. there is an option to add it in the profile section though.

It still works. I don't think its only for LG phones now. I just read this article, signed up from my laptop on box.com, downloaded the .apk from the article,

BAM!

50GB

:D

It did ask for my phone number when I signed up, which I didn't really like, but after signing up I edited my account and put in a different number.

Cool, thanks for posting. You have to go to the site to upload files and I wasn't able to upload folders, only files. It won't replace dropbox for me but it's nice to know that I have 50gb if I want it.

I signed up through my phone and it didn't ask for my #
