***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I did read it all! And it was technical enough that I didn't feel like a child but understandable enough to not shake my head and wander to the next post.

I hope puppy feels better soon.

I read most of it! I tried I really did but i lack the attention required when on mobile.

And thanks! I think she just has a tummy ache from her Daddy accidently getting them the wrong food yesterday :( he got the blue bag instead of the green.

Dood, you have a REAL talent for explaining tech. Call me envious, I usually get a glassy eyed, tongue hanging look when I explain tech. Thank you!

That's why I actually read his technical explanations. I can follow along. :D

Hey everyone. Been watching this tread for awhile now and I am loving the discussions on here. I wanted to ask if anyone knows if the Verizon Nexus will get updates from Google or will they have to go through Verizon? Or is downloading the updates from Google a possibility too? Thanks!

Welcome!
It's been debated how this will be handled due VZW putting their stuff on it

Yeah, that's the one. Hated it, added WAY too much bulk to the phone and I couldn't stand what it did to my pockets. Put up with it for a month or two before giving up. When I took it off, I was shocked at how much thinner the phone was without, it was like discovering the phone all over again. Tossed the case somewhere, no idea where it is now, haha.

Yeah, that thing was a real pile of rubbish! I had mine for about a week before I got sick of it and returned it to the Verizon store.

The good news is that this TPU case seems to be miles better both in texture and in bulk. Can't wait to see what it's like wrapped around a phone!

Very true. Should come in handy at work for me, I'm less worried about those days now... Just wondering about my heavy usage days filled with playing on my phone while comforting a pukey puppy (like I'm doing now)

ah, poor pup! Did she just get shots? What kind of pup/how old? We recently got a standard poodle (our second), currently 13 weeks or so old. She just had some shots yesterday, was off her game, but fortunately not pukey! Hope your beastie starts feeling better soon!

Oh, well then. I'll just go somewhere else for relavent information.

If you're looking for relevant droid information, I would suggest you do that because there's no droid information in this thread. If you are looking for relevant vzw galaxy Nexus information, I suggest reading the op occasionally and avoiding the thread if the ot chatter bothers you that much.

Cool, I actually kind of like the second logo! Thanks for sharing. Our home office for the company I work for is located in Newark, NJ, which I get to visit a handful of times a year so..... Glassboro has to be better than that, right?

It's better than Newark, just due to it's size (much smaller) and the fact that Rowan is trying to clean it up. That doesn't stop murders and muggings, but the numbers are less than Newark, and Camden for that matter. Although, a lot of people from Camden do end up in Glassboro, so it's not the best situation, considering Camden manages to rival Detroit and St. Louis as the most dangerous city in the country.

Hmm, well perhaps I'll buy one as well! Only 10 bucks, and if it's worth the investment, it'd be a great value.

By the way, guys, I highly recommend this story, it's a great read. Learned a couple things about ICS I didn't know yet - for example, I knew that you could re-size widgets (which I'm SO excited for, can't wait to take up a whole screen with my Google Reader feed), and about the multi-task button, and individual notification dismissal, but did you know that the Nexus' browser will sync with your Chrome bookmarks? Very well-written and comprehensive piece overall.

They (I actually got two recently) handled shots pretty well! I think it's the food mix up unfortunately. They're 12 weeks tomorrow! Mixed boxer and pointer, so small and annoying and cuddly :) i promised the forum my first Gnex pics will be of them (which is why I haven't posted any yet... Figure I can keep them on topic by comparing to my charge photos te-he)

Yeah methinks EM would make a great technical marketing person :) It takes a certain kind of affinity for explaining technical stuff in a way non-technical people can understand. I know I fail at this miserably. I'm too technical and usually fail to properly explain something to my family/friends when they ask (e.g. what do I do at work heh).

I hear ya! it is a very rare skill to have! I occasionally have to present stuff to management, thats the tricky part, getting the right mix of required tech without losing them.

Norcal Question
Norcal? I used to do field service with a sister company I used to work at in San Jose, just off of coleman avenue across from the airport. United Defense (now British Aerospace). We had our own test track there, perty cool! Lived in the valley for almost 2 years, love the bay area. My wife and I honeymooned out there, half moon bay, monterrey, calistoga, and the city. I used to go to java one conferences partly just to get back. I miss that place!

Ugh. The girl in the office with a TV called us over. She loves Kathy Lee and Hoda. They have this incredibly irritating schtick where they have a family come on the show, and present a very touching story, like the kid saved them from a fire, or one of them donated a kidney to another one, or something like that.

Anyway, at the end of the segment, they have these crappy singers come on and sing a song that was written about their experience. Everyone cries.

So. freaking. corny.

The girl in the office is standing in front of the TV, with her arms crossed, and is occasionally wiping her eyes. She then turns to us and says "Wasn't that so beautiful?!"

We just roll our eyes and walk out, thankful for the distraction but sickened at the same time.

This person is on the company payroll? If you are a partner in the firm, it is time to reevaluate the staffing needs.

Better yet, where do I apply?

Will You Need Verizon’s Visual Voicemail App on Your Galaxy Nexus? Here You Go – Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

VZW just released a visual voicemail app in the market yesterday. My silly school-girl optimism concludes that this means they're getting prepped for the SGN release since it doesn't include VVM :)

I am a Google Voice user. I really like the look of the Verizon Visual Voicemail app pictured. I think Google Voice could really use a refresher. I like the pictures by the voicemails.

I hope this phone doesn't release now, I'm gonna miss this thread. :(

Just kidding, I'm willing to sacrifice the fun here for a Nexus in hand. You'll all be missed. Until we hit the lounge, that is.

Yeah, the 20 minutes or so between locking this one and gathering again in the lounge and first impressions threads will be killer. ;) :p

I'm tired. How's that for OT?

Me too.

Yeah, the bay area is really nice. I was just there M-W for some training at our site there. I'm up/over in the Sacramento area. It's nice being about 2 hours from the bay/SF but also < 2 hours from snowboarding :)

You don't have to "port" your number to use GV voicemail.

I use it with my VZW #

Mine is probably set up different. I chose a separate number to use for business when I set up gvoice on my primary email... But i have multiple emails, so I could use one of my other ones for my regular number? I can you log into multiple accounts like you can for other google apps?

No need to run off mad. Do what I do when I am trying to catch up on important information in this thread. I go to where I left off and begin scrolling (quickly) down each page only stopping on posts thanked multiple times to see what's up then move on quickly.

Reading the banter and conversation gets frustrating when you aren't a part of it because you think of things you would have liked to contribute but if you do it now, it just doesn't fit.
