***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Thanks for the info!

I am curious though, how could they get 4.1 on all of those phones, when they're already boxed/shipped and supposedly in warehouses? (I *think* that 4.1 just came out very recently?) It would maybe make more sense that 4.1 would be available as an OTA perhaps? (Just trying to be realistic here.)

I'm VERY excited about this silly phone...now...GIMME! :)

PURELY SPECULATION, but every unboxing video ive seen starts with an updating android screen. i'm not sure if it's really looking then but it very well could update the phone before you even put in your information to the device.

Woah, I missed all the drama with the Windsock, eh? Is everyone satisfied that he has 4.1, or no?

He's a moron, but he's usually right when it comes to software stuff. Release dates and carrier info? Not so much.
I just pretend he doesn't exist.. There is enough of a echo chamber on information that I'm not dying if I don't hear it from him ( hear him gloat about it).

Thanks for your info. It IS info that has been diseminated already, and still unable to verify if your info is corroborating the original info independantly (obviously it becomes multiple times more valuable if that is the case), or just repeating it. But like I said last night, information seems valid regardless, and I don't want you to think the info is not appreciated, even if some are a bit skeptical. If you would like to, I am sure Steven would be happy to verify your credentials via PM to protect your identity, and vouch for your authenticity. Then most skepticism would disappear (there are still a few that even question The Source, even though Steven has vouched for him, is why I say MOST).

Yep... very much a Monday Morning Quarterback.

4.1 will not ship with our phones. We have the consumer version. Others, like the Windsock, have developer phones.

I'd expect they would get new builds, even major revisions, way earlier than we do. They have to test them before they update the consumer devices. I figure they're probably even a few months ahead of us with updates, so they can work out the bugs.

Yes, he definitely has 4.1 & also said new devices will ship with 4.0.1 or 4.0.2.

well P3 had stated about an hour ago that most likely release was going to be 4.0.1...and maybe quickly updated to 4.0.2. I dunno I wonder also if its going to be 4.1. But Open1your1eyes seemed to state it was releasing with 4.1.

Not to say I'm trying to contradict Open1your1eyes.

Just a gut feeling. I suppose it would be easy to update to 4.1 upon activation. I just think that if developers just now got the update, it'd be a while before it was fully tested, and we only have 6 days before release. Seems a bit tight.

I agree, I've had plenty of phones that immediately jumped to an OTA after connecting to the network. I don't care what version it is out of the box, I'm gonna be ROM'ing the heck out it anyway.

Because he's... umm... full of... umm... "good news"

The Inside Source Paradox is interesting. Someone inside enough to have credible information can't prove their credentials because doing so risks termination and/or litigation. So being vague IS the way a true inside source would be but it's also exactly how a troll would act.

Personally, I buy the dude(tte)'s story. I may be opening myself up for disappointment but it feels right somehow.

Right, that is why I suggested PM to Steven. He has already proven he holds any source's info with the utmost confidentiality. So if he/she wanted to remove all doubt there is an avenue.

But I don't think there is any harm in believing what he/she says at this point, and even if he/she weren't legit, he/she is not exhibiting the classic troll behavior, which is to give info in an attempt to rile everyone up.

edit: I originally read what he said about 4.1.0 as it would be available, but he did say out of box. That info as everyone is commenting on is probably not true.

My sister texted me this morning:

Doesn't tell me anything more than what we know, but it's encouraging!

I think we're finally in the home stretch!

Finally!

I think your sister should considering starting a 2nd career as a comedian... lol

Thanks for the information though we do appreciate it.

don't think anything is contradictory, but this whole situation until release day is obviously fluid. Other than higher ups, everyone else is rolling with this constant change of info.

I'm still pessimistically wondering if 12/8 will be pushed off at the last minute.

Just got an answer from P3Droid (not what I was looking for either):

mattdonders said:
@P3Droid does 4.1 bring native USB host mode or still requires a custom kernel?

P3DROID said:
@mattdonders nope

Not sure what the "nope" was to, but I am afraid it means it doesn't support it natively.

I don't give a flying fig what it ships with..... I WANT MY NEXUS!

Hmmm....does that mean that you'll be over your PMS next week? (Midol?) :)

Thanks for the info!
