***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Good Morning Gnexers!

Sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up on the last dozen pages or so... but sick kids happen... :(

Hope I have't missed anything important other than we have

5 days and 23 hours to go! :D

I have 4G LTE (according to the map) and I live in Jersey. Probably because I'm so close to Philly though ;)

Same here - according to the map I'm squarely in the 4G zone, but again thanks to Philly. However, where I moved from in Jersey, Medford, is just barely on the fringe. Do any of our Marlton people have 4G, and any issue staying on 4G?

Oh, and good morning everyone. Sleeping in sure was nice.

If the 4.1 update contains such a substantial upgrade to the LTE radio, it seems like it would be in Verizon's best interest to have those on all handsets by the 8th. It would seem to me that such an update wouldn't require much testing, something along the lines of "Does this make it better? It does? Okay, good, let's go."

So the stock market is having one of its best weeks in quite some time..Now I just need some Nexus news to make this the best week ever!!

Look at the Bionic...

4.1 will not ship with our phones. We have the consumer version. Others, like the Windsock, have developer phones.

I'd expect they would get new builds, even major revisions, way earlier than we do. They have to test them before they update the consumer devices. I figure they're probably even a few months ahead of us with updates, so they can work out the bugs.

I thought historically the Nexus was a developer phone. Also, how would Verizon or Google differentiate between "developer" phones and "consumer" phones? Something doesn't sound right.

Still quiet. He seems legit. Updating to 4.1 before release is just speculation, and he pretty much said that.

But I'm encouraged by the fact that there is a 4.1. That means that Google is still working fast to perfect this thing. This phone will obviously have a ton of fast and significant support.

Speculation from someone that claims to know so much? I guarantee you 20 minutes after the next BIG news we hear, he will come in and "verify" it to be accurate.

My sister texted me this morning:

Doesn't tell me anything more than what we know, but it's encouraging!

I think we're finally in the home stretch!

Finally!
Get your finger ready for some clicking. :D

Although I wouldn't put it past verizon to crash and burn and delay things again.

Just got an answer from P3Droid (not what I was looking for either):

Not sure what the "nope" was to, but I am afraid it means it doesn't support it natively.
Thanks for checking with him, Stigy, much appreciated. It's good to at least know one way or the other. I plan to root anyway, getting the necessary kernel shouldn't be a problem. Like I said before, since Verizon was advertising the ability to plug in HID devices like joysticks and controllers (and by extension, USB thumb drives, etc.), it would be nice to see that as a stock feature.

Even with the Nexus One and Nexus S, I'd have to imagine that they sampled major updates to a relatively few before rolling it out wide.

If they just built the update using computers and then immediately sent it out to a million phones without testing it, that could be a disaster.

We just have to remember that the kernel for the GSM version will probably be different than the kernel for the LTE version (99% sure) so definitely need to be careful what we flash, but I am sure it will be easy to tell the difference once people start developing for the LTE variant.

I cannot wait to see what you power users do with this phone.

As for me.... I just need an updated handset & LTE. My old wrinkled eyes needed the larger display yesterday.

My OG Droid Has Served Me Well

Something one of you developer types can possibly make money on is an APP or Theme that will forbid any screens with WHITE or bright colored backgrounds.

Law enforcement, Security and PI types need this Mucho Grande for surveillance/undercover work that requires communications that don't light up your face or your location.

Someone please come up with one. I would love to have a switch that made it all Red on Black.

I would pay for this kind of app.

Sorry to hear about the kids, hope they feel better soon.

And I only count 3 days. Can't count today or the weekend, nor launch day, so only a 3 days left. Did I do it right? :D

Could be. I'm not going to vouch for anyone or defend them, because there are too many clever trolls in the world. I don't even vouch (too much) for my own sister, because I know it's all hearsay, could be outdated, or just plain wrong.

It's just a gut feeling, that's all. But I can totally understand anyone's hesitation to believe anything.

At least Hurricane BS is going to finally peter out soon.

It'll be interesting to see what's different, exactly. I'll be keeping a close eye on the XDA forums after the 8th! :)

Anybody else share my theory that we have Hanette to thank for moving the release date up from 12/31 to 12/8? I imagine the scenario going something like this:

Hanette is working away when a gaggle of VZW executives walk by discussing their evil plot to hold out on the release until 12/31...or later. Hanette hears this, and panics. She runs after the executives, throws herself on the floor, grabbing one of them by the ankles and cries "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can't take it anymore! Please, for the love of all that is holy, release the phone so my brother will get a life and leave me alone!" Fearing that Hanette will become suicidal - or worse, homicidal - the executives decide that keeping their faithful employee sane is more important than their silly little prank, and set the date for 12/8.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Hmm, "Covert" themes. Interesting. Really works well with the AMOLED screen I bet.

Han I am so glad that your back with us again! This made me LOL thanks so much for keeping us up-to-date with info from your sis. The friendly characteristically sibling banter between the two of you is always a pleasure to read on top of the fact that it always itches by nexus bug ;)

I turned my Thunderbolt off last night before bed. Just turned it on. It booted in less than 5 seconds. Weird. Usually takes a good 40secs. or more
