My brother sent me this this morning:

IMAG0339.jpg

"Look what button showed up yesterday morning in the system."

Edit: I forgot I have to be specific: He works for Verizon. He works in the call center. Did not describe what the button does, but the phone is now 'in the system' whatever that means.

Ah!

The "prompt" button!

I swear, this thread reminds me of Cheers. We have our own regulars who could be our Sam, Norm, Cliff, Frazier, Diane, Rebecca, Carla, etc, and hilarity always ensues in this place. All we need is a bar and the theme music. Naturally, I expect someone will post a link to the Cheers opening theme after this.

So, who do we nominate to be Norm? :p

Steven is totally Frasier.

Dogma is also a classic, one of my favorite movies of all time. Jay and Silent Bob are the best two characters in the movie, IMO.

Motion hereby seconded. :D

I would start it but I'm on the app and it's a pain in the arse from here.
And thanks for the movie tip!

What's the advantage of purchasing the phone through a third party retailer rather than through Verizon? I've heard some stuff about warranties that places like BB will give you, but I think the price will be the same. Can anyone enlighten me?

Not too many.

Some like buying through 3rd parties because they may have coupons and discounts that aren't available at the Verizon corporate store. Imagine having $100 of Best Buy reward dollars that could go towards the phone, for example.

3rd parties often give lower prices, but only after the phone has been on sale for a while. They may also bundle more things.

But one severe drawback (for me at least) is that currently, I'm only up for an early upgrade. Only Verizon can do an early upgrade, not 3rd parties, so I'm stuck getting it from a corporate store or online from Verizon.

I say once the phone is released and the thread is closed we have a local meetup thread for people who want to go to the bar with fellows geeks in the local area :)

That could be fun - especially after realizing how many people from Michigan there are when college sports came up. ;)

We should defintly set something up..like a huge list of local threads..I know I've seen fellow North Jersians on here plenty of times! Sometimes I like coming out of my cave and meeting new people

Costco will usually sell at the same price as VZW, but usually includes around $100 worth of OEM accessories; plus I believe they have a much longer return window.

I hope none of you guys pre-ordered your Transformer Primes' from Amazon. They are canceling orders......:mad::mad:

This always got me. This time I have a $100 vzw gift card and $50 living social voucher, so won't be so bad.

I agree. At this point I've purchased from everywhere for various reasons. Last two phones for myself were at Best Buy for a few reasons. Most recently it was for the Buy Back program because I knew I wouldn't be keeping this DCharge. Which means I have to get my Gnex there. I got my Mom's Rezound on Amazon for the penny deal. and I got my boyfriend's iphone 4 at the VZW corporate store because we were doing some crazy transfer of liability and adding a new line all at once buncha bs because of my ex kind of stuff.

Any retailer has their benefits and drawbacks depending on your own situation.

sort of a hybrid of F5 and refresh arrow
cr-48-post-016new-gal.jpg

since I'm browsing on a CR-48

I didn't know anyone still uses the CR-48. I have one, I just never use it because it has way too many bugs, it's slow, and it's heavier than my macbook air. :D

I can't imagine the chrome books lasting much longer since they are not selling and they can only sell to a special niche that are not buying them. The cloud is not quite there yet.

I do love that keyboard though. :p
Have a lot of the bugs for it been fixed?

I'm a pretty casual user. Haven't really run into many bugs. I run the dev channel, for some reason, I don't really remember, now. It's fun to play with, but really I just use it for general web browsing. Like everyone else, I wasn't even expecting it when it showed up, but it gave us another machine to use, and since my girlfriend and I were already sharing our macbook pro, it helped us avoid some anxiety. It's lighter than the macbook, but definitely a little slower.

Um, I feel like I need to add something on-topic... so, my four years of high school Latin is long-since faded. What's the proper plural of Nexus?

I have a rock I come out from under sometimes. I know I'll need to to find people to actually Beam with.
or Bump, depending on the circumstances. ;)

Really? I think EarlyMon is Frasier. I'd say Steven is Sam, runs the place and generally keeps everyone in line. :)

Haha, all the Jersey people would love that!

Sure thing. You'll love Dogma, I know it.
