***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I totally get your rationalization, I tend to have a more pessimistic mindset myself but Verizon did say that The Galaxy Nexus would release later this year and since there's only 26 days left of 2011 it's bound to be here very soon, unless Verizon is flat out lying.

With that said we have the Best Buy screen shot, also there are numerous confirmations of it launching on or near the 8th. Last but definitely not least is the phone is on display the weekend before it's anticipated to launch, now even for a pessimistic person such as myself that's too much of a coincidence.

Sam, we can all agree that today, we are one day closer. :)

I'm kind of glad they don't have a Samsung Experience with an SGN on display here in Chicago.

I want my unboxing to be my very first experience. Pure, unadulterated wonder.

That's why I also haven't used an ICS theme or ROM yet on my Dinc2.

I agree wholeheartedly. That the reason I'm not dumping the boot animation or any new ICS content on my DX. I want to experience it for the first time when I power that baby on myself!

With all this talk about shipments and stock, one has to wonder why we haven't seen anything regarding the matter... you would think there would be someone who snapped pics in a warehouse or something :S

i've wondered the same thing, but in this age of highly enforced NDAs and super secrecy of tech companies like apple, sammy, and vzw - i'm really not surprised.

businessweek has a great article on apple's supply chain business strategies and sheds some light on their product launches:

At least once, the company shipped products in tomato boxes to avoid detection, says the consultant who has worked with Apple. When the iPad 2 debuted, the finished devices were packed in plain boxes and Apple employees monitored every handoff point

I remember the secrecy surrounding the iPhone 5 ....oh I mean iPhone 4s and for the life of me I don't remember anyone posting pics or even leaked info on iPhone 5's  or even iPhone 4s's in a Verizon warehouse in the days before the announcement of its availability.

Maybe I missed that but could it be Verizon has a system in place that works against such leaks?

Lol they have have their own anti leak team

I don't necessarily believe that these past things didn't pan out. I think there have been legitimate rumors and dates but Verizon is the one who made them not pan out by delaying the release. If I told you I was going to Walmart tonight at 7 and you told my wife to meet me there at 7 because I said I would be there and then I changed my mind and didn't go, does my wife have any reason to be mad at you for giving her bad information? Of course not. MY point is made.

Your wife is a good person, she'd never be mad at me. :)

Saw the phone tonight at the Columbus Circle Samsung Store. Even a reporter from Engadget was there photographing the phone. The phone is everything you want it to be.

Hoping for pre-order soon!

Now Joe, with that name are we supposed to take you seriously? :D

Not much help, but I stopped in at my local VZW to pay a bill. I asked my friend there about the Nexus, no confirmed dates, but they are hearing rumors of the 8th for a release date.

Headed back to the saumsung store for the second day in a row to check out the phone. Does this make me obsessed?

No, just being a kid. Nothing wrong with that. I would go if I could.

seriously. no problem found here by me.:o:o
If i didn't have 3 kids, a wife, a job, and if i lived closer to a GNex on display days or weeks from the widespread release, I'd friggin' camp out on the sidewalk so that every time i thought about some aspect of the phone and how it would affect my live I could just stand up and go inside to check it out....:D

Whoa... I think I'm sick...:(

at least this thread is therapeutic..

People... save yourself a lot of time and don't ask the reps at a Verizon store. It's not going to help you at all. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just trying to save you from wasting time.

And not to put down anyone that works for Verizon. They know their stuff very well. However, Verizon does not give them information on new phones.

Had to do a few things today so I couldn't be on here as much as normal. Last I left, emotions were high and most were feeling SOMETHING happening this Thursday or Friday. Are we still thinking that or has some stuff changed? Thanks.

Hi, I'm sorry. This is my second attempt at a report. The first one was from a Samsung Chrome Book and I lost all the info.

Well, I can't tell you how grateful I am to be here and to have felt and held both the GSM and the LTE Vzw branded versions of the Gnex. I started this thread three and a half months ago and thanks to God, I get to be the first to hold this phone. Also thanks to Raider for PM'ing me that the phone was in NYC.

The phone is every bit amazing as it was cracked up to be. It's not that much bigger than my Droid X, but it feels lighter and easier to weild. IMO, the Razr has a certain unweildiness to the feel that the Gnex does not.

The screen is beautiful. I watched a few youtubes and they stretched out to cover up the on screen buttons. (Note to Phases.. please tell him about this report: the on screen buttons are the same on the VZ branded phone as they are on the GSM. White. There was a grayish look in the VZ photo. It's not accurate. :))

The thing is fast and pops. I took a picture of the samsung galaxy nexus sign over and over again.. POP POP POP! No delay. :) I can't upload that to you because the phones were not operating on a network, just on wifi.

I do have a picture of me with the gnex that I will upload later. My DX is low on power. Sorry.

Yeah, I did get emotional holding the thing. What a relief. It does not feeeeeel like a big phone and whereas it is plastic, it does not have the cheap-y feel to it. I love the grid on the back. It gives a good grippy feeling.

The screen. Oh my the screen. I have to be the first to say it. When you are watching a video, it really looks like a small tablet that you are watching. The clarity, the colors. Oh my.

The resolution is crystal clear. I didn't need my reading glasses to see the smaller font. Beautiful.

I'm with my friend in NYC, and am being rude writing this, so I should go.. Please leave me a list of questions you might have and I'll try to answer it late tonight or tomorrow. My phone is out of power now, so I'm not going to be able to communicate much more until I get to a computer.

Early, Please tell the writers of this post and also update the OP to point to this post with an explanation that I have held the phone and have some words about it. TIA. :)

Make me a list and I'll get to it asap. YAAAAAY!!!!!

Ooooooh my. What a phone. I did get a lump in my throat and choked up when I held it. This IS my next phone. Definitely. No reservations. Nupe. Nuh uh.

Ttyl!!!!!

Your humble servant,

Steven

I'm stoked for this phone, I'm coming from the Droid milestone....been holding out for over a year, was thinking bionic but when it was delayed I decided to wait for the nexus.

Went and ordered a case and screen cover while Christmas shopping online at Amazon tonight, never used such things in the past but I looked at my Droid and couldn't bare to think of the nexus ending up looking like that one day.

Talked to my son tonight about the ordering process, I'll be in surgery all week and Thursday is one of my busiest days so I was concerned. He said if it was available in retail stores Thursday morning then I could get up early....5am and order it for overnight delivery and have it on Friday.

I must admit this process has been challenging at times but well worth it, as I said I'm very stoked for the Nexus and I'm ready for the device to finally become reality.

Looks like misordered priorities, it should be phone first patients second. ;)

FWIW, Apple did the launch event, not Verizon, Sprint or AT&T.

There were some leaked info and pics of the iP4S before the event, although it was hard to tell any info because it looks just like an iP4.

Still the biggest counterpoint was that there were no pics of phones in warehouses, nor were there any confirmation of shipments to stores......simply because of the fact that not a single phone went to AT&T, Verizon or Sprint before the event. Apple does thier launch event, details all the specs and gives a release date. At that time, Apple has the phones shipped from Foxconn to the carriers warehouses and then the carriers to stores.

So that's why you'll never see leaked photos of store shipments, because by the time they show up to stores, it's not a secret anymore. My only question is why Apple is given a pass for thier secrecy, yet Verizon is flogged for it.

Because they officially announced the phone months ago, and I know they said before the end of the year, but them sitting back while it is available over seas is something they should look at. The iPhone was never available overseas first so there wasn't so much need for information on when it would release here.

If they would've released the SGSII, there's a good chance, I'd have that phone and be happy. I loved the T-Mobile phone, just not the network. They said they passed to get something better and then won't say when it's coming.

I plan to open a new line, purchase the Nexus and then swap the Nexus with my phone on the two lines. Given this scenario, is it possible:
A) to get the new phone without having the VZW associate open the box and activate the phone on site?
B) Can I just open a new line and take the new, boxed phone home and then deactivate my phone and reactivate both on their respective lines?
C) Can I bypass the activation fee(s) by doing this?

I agree with past comments that I hate not being the first one to touch MY new phone, but after buying the OG Droid and the X2, it never occurred to me that I could walk out of the store with a unopened box.

You have a valid point, Vette. But I think it must be conceded that this Launch is the worst-kept secret in cell phone history. At what point should VZW have just come out and said "Yeah, okay, you got us. You all know anyway but Launch Day for Nexus is ________"?

Instead, they're keeping this thing secret until the day it launches? Makes little sense to me, but then I'm not sitting in the boardroom.
