OT but I just got back from Gamestop after playing around with the ASUS Transformer Prime and I gotta say it's awesome! Unfortunately, the display model was amethyst grey (I've preordered the champagne gold) but I was pleasantly surprised at how sleek and sexy it was. Also, the brushed metal on the back wasn't a huge fingerprint magnet as I thought it would be in that color, especially.

My Amazon order was cancelled but then I went to Best Buy and ordered there. Seems like I'll have one after all. Glad it seemed cool. Between that and the Nexus, I'm going to be a happy camper.

I am rooting ASAP mainly for free WiFi tether.

THis brings up a great question that I have had for a while but have forgotten to ask... Will we really have to use a tethering app to wirelesly tether this phone or since it is an open Google phone will WiFi tether work free out of the box? If anyone knows FOR SURE please chime in.

I found it's always nice to have an extended USB cord so when I get a new phone I can play with it without feeling like I have to be 3 feet from a wall.

I hate that they skimp on the length of charging cords. I miss when they were long

This is something that Verizon charges for. So chances of getting it free are slim to none.

Thanks for the comments on the lines (or lack thereof) at VZW corporate stores on launch day. I live in NYC, so I am worried about lines basically everywhere I go :)

Perhaps I'll go north to Westchester to reduce the potential risk of crowds.

I need some sympathy... I broke my Droid Eris and I've stuck using my LG dare for a month and a half now:/ this thing needs to come out soon.

Makers cooperate with carriers.

Expect free wireless tethering to not work because it's a violation of your Verizon terms of service.

And for that same reason, AndroidForums.com can't support threads on HOW to get free wireless tethering when the time comes - new policy.

Nobody was really asking how to get it pretty much everyone knows root does that so I wouldn't say this thread is supporting telling people how to by any means.

We are coming up on one of the most interesting week the GN has seen. What's everyone's take? Does it get released this week? Do we go to pre-order? Does this week end in all of us lining up on the proverbial bridge?

What's the consensus?

Off-Topic, Transformer Prime/tablet talk:

I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1, which I love, despite the fact that it isn't perfect. I was lusting over the Transformer Prime for about a week, until I reasoned that the Tab does everything I want it to do already. All of the hands-on impressions noted that the quadcore doesn't really do anything besides gaming any better than the dual core models, for example, web browsing and general tab use remained the same. So while all of the new gaming functions will be awesome, I decided to wait another 2 months and pick up the Playstation Vita instead. It's also quad core, and while the screen is smaller, it will have better A+ software support from first and third party developers, nice controls, and will cost half of what the Prime costs. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry, no new news about the Nexus during my chat with a Verizon rep, but I did get information on pre-orders:

Me: For a new phone release, am I more likely to get a phone sooner by pre-order online or by waiting until they go on sale in the store?
Me: (Can you tell I am realy looking forward to the Nexus?) =)
Latrice: If a new device is set to be pre-ordered , ordering online, when it is first set for pre-order will ensure your device delivery before released in store
Latrice: I can feel your excitement
She also mentioned that online orders are currently offered with free activation (for new lines) and the phone is shipped new-in-box without being touched by a VZW rep first. Looks like I will be keeping an eye out for pre-order. ;)

When do you think those of us that signed up for email news from Verizon will finally hear something? I haven't been this excited about a phone since the weeks leading up to the original Droid!
