I wasn't fully satisfied, so I changed the lanyard and made a sheath from the same materials as the handle.

Also, I'm loving the insanely positive turn this thread has taken. Keep it up!

Wow! You should make props for Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit"...make sure to put the Nexus symbol on the blade.

Don't stress out about it. We know you are not lying. Who knows - maybe the CSRs are all reading the forums and talking to one another about it :)

You may know but I do not. Not saying he is just seems strange he is the only one and that is all that shows from the convo, not to mention he got it twice when many other members have been doing it with no luck....

I thought we've been over this.... CSR's know NOTHING. Stop pestering them. The ones that are saying Wednesday pre-order are either guessing or are breaking the rules by actually saying something.

what were there names? I just tried it and they gave me the "we have no information" issue

Use this exact verbiage as your first question:

"Hi I was in the Samsung store in New York and I tried out the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It had a Verizon logo on the back and I asked the rep. there when it was coming out and he said in a few days. Can I preorder this device now?"

That's how I got the information the first time. Like I said, I've been trying throughout the day to get it again. I must've had about 5 times where they didn't give me any information and then I got the right CSR and they said Wednesday again about a few hours ago. Everyone who wants to try using the verbiage that I used and see where that gets you!

Hey guys, just checking in. Sorry I haven't been posting much in the last few days, it's been really busy.

Still have the 8th marked on my calendar. THIS IS IT GUYS! (no MJ reference intended)
Hey, I've been gone for a bit here too.
My students had recital yesterday! The eighth does sound like it's shaping up..I'm hearing that online preorder may beat in store. Does this mean we might get a press release by Verizon tonight??

As for rooting, it was said earlier that rooting does not wipe your phone. For those folks who are saying that, have you read the instructions for rooting a GNex? To root it you unlock the bootloader which wipes your phone as clearly stated in the instructions. The DX's root method didn't but that appears to have no bearing on the GNex.

At this time, I couldn't care less about unlocking my bootloader. I'm getting the first ICS phone for a reason and don't see loading ROMs as compatible with experiencing ICS. I DO want to root it so I can do proper backups with TiBackup and tweak the little things root provides. I also assume Windbag's tweaks require root.

Seems like a good strategy is to mess with the phone for a bit to ensure it's for you, knowing anthing you do is temporary. As soon as you know it's a keeper, root that pig, thus wiping the phone THEN start installing and tweaking with gusto!

At least that's the strategy I'm planning on using,

Right now, to get root it may be required to unlock the bootloader, which entails a wipe. But the root method itself doesn't wipe the phone, though. It may be semantics, but it's an important distinction. If you plan to root, the first thing you should do out of the box is unlock the bootloader. But you can unlock the bootloader, and root later at any time. The root process will NOT wipe the phone.

However, there may be future exploits that can root the device with a one click method with no bootloader unlocking necessary. Your hedging your bets against that exploit discovery though. And I don't think too many devs are going to go looking for an easy way when we can unlock the bootloader so easily.

Okay another question about rooting the GNex. If you root, how do you get the OTA updates from Google? I'm assuming most of you will want to receive many of those updates and am I correct in saying that you won't receive the OTA updates if you root? So how do you update?

I beg to. Differ alot of dev will look for a one clickethod to. Help out. The.noobs... So don't worry about it will be there soon

For those of you that are questioning his integrity or implying that he is lying - you should probably take a step back from the keyboard for a while. That is not what we are here for. Everyone play nice:)

I hope you are right on this.

Lots of Devs will have thier hands on this phone, that's for sure. Hopefully we'll get a one click method quickly. But......as I said, you are hedging your bets that this will happen. If you have any plan to root, just unlock it from the beginning and be done.

Thanks, I'll give this a try tonight. I initiate chat by logging in to MyVerizon pretending to upgrade my current phone, right?

Rooting does not change a thing about your phone. AT ALL. You will still get updates. You will still do everything you want to do.

If you install a custom ROM (or operating system), THEN OTAs may be disabled. But simply having access to the phone's forbidden system files will not block them.

If the soonest the pre-order can happen is Wednesday, then why keep quarreling out information today with each other or CSRs.

The statements have been made. Believe them or don't.

It's not a nuclear weapons release, we're not going to 1SQ, we don't need to go all Crimson Tide on authentication of the CSR message reports.

Yes?
