IMO, the issue of out-posting the Dinc thread is a joke. This thread is so much more off-topic and contains so many "filler" posts that its volume as regards any other thread is irrelevant. Not criticizing OT posts, I am criticizing the "filler." Quantity for quantity's sake has no value. It would be much more significant if this were to be known as the most helpful thread, or the friendliest thread, or the thread demonstrating the most interest in a compelling cellular product.

Have to disagree. Ask anyone who participated in the dinc thread (members/mods) etc. This thread is WAY more on topic

jersey is taking over! ha

in that case peace, I'm out

While interesting, I'd at least hide that conversation if I were you. The mods have all said that we shouldn't be posting those conversations here as they are generally fruitless.

To clarify (for myself and others), I was under the impression that conversations that were fruitless or whose sole aim was harassing a CSR were not to be posted. Conversations that were genial and from which new or interesting information was derived were ok.

In my opinion, the aforementioned conversation falls under the interesting category, as it is odd that a CSR would lie and then hold position that a phone was discontinued but also not in their system (I thought all phones they ever sold were there for support purposes, with an (obvious) inability to actually sell the model). My (old, now backup phone) BB pearl is in their system, yet it has been discontinued.

Perhaps you should go read the DINC thread. I think you may be idealizing it just a bit. ;):D It was much more off topic than this thread.

Does anyone know why when i try to order a smart phone full retail off verizon's site it try's to get me to select a plan? I wanna keep the plan i'm on, just upgrade my phone. I'm just feeling the water for when ordering starts ;)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I ran the numbers and we've still got a ways to go to break the DINC thread record.

The DINC thread ran for 1939.82 hours. 47,904 posts/1939.82 hours = 24.70 posts/hour. 592.68 posts/day.

This thread has been running for 2481.18 hours. 61,083 posts/2481.18 hours = 24.62 posts/hour. 590.84 posts/day.

Y'all best pick it up before the end of the week :D!!!

Really? That's crazy. Why was the DINC so anticipated? I had zero interest in it...

The DINC was essentially Verizon's version of the Nexus (with some better HW specs and the addition of sense). I think it was clearly their best phone at the time.

I did go back and read it, and you know what there is an amazing shortage of? Posts about beating the Dinc thread.

We all will.
But wait? If its release is actually friday from verizon (and the 11th for BB) wouldn't the 2 day shipping mean it would be actually Wednesday we get an online order option (as in no pre-order just a throw-it-up-and-buy-now option)?

Someone mentioned they have done silent releases with no pre-order or prior announcement?

Also yes I am asking like others have for the millionth time, would it be better to do in-store or do the order thing? Would I be able to go into a store say tuesday or wednesday and confirm they will have units to sell or would they just BS me?

Well, I will be doing in store. I like to get my grubby hands on a purchase right away if possible. I have people at both a VZW Corporate store and a VZ+ store that will hold phones for me.

I first will try the VZ+ store. I am buying 2 of these (one for me and one for my brother for Xmas) and they allow me to put it on my VZ FIOS bill and spread over 8 months (though I'll probably do 3 months). Sometimes though, they don't get phones on launch (50/50 from what I've seen). If they don't have it, I'll buy them at the VZW Corporate store and put them on my bill and pay over 2 months.

Online ordering has it's perks as well if you are going to pay up front. You get your phone without having to go anywhere and sometimes you get the phone sooner than it is available in store (if there is a preorder).

If it's Wednesday, I'm assuming they will be shipped by Friday or Saturday at the latest.
Personally I'm waiting it out, calling a VZW rep when the pre-order page is up (whenever that is) and asking them what they think the best option is, and when it will be in store.
I think Pre-ordering might be best, because it saves the drive, the chance of an employee opening the box for you, and guarantees you a device on the day of launch or before:D

For the record, I asked a Rep at best buy tonight about the nexus...he said he believes they will have them on the 8th but had no concrete info. Take that for what its worth...

i live in NYC i stopped by the Samsung place today couldn't take pics or anything was very busy and had a time limit to see the device but i can say very smooth and fast screen is beautiful one of the workers there owned the gsm version honestly u cant tell the difference

only issue is of coarse no flash for now also no Facebook sync and the Facebook app doesn't work completely there is no menu button yet Facebook has to update there app

there is a slight lag/delay when rotating the screen but i was told its because it is not sensitive to accidentally rotate and the the delay is to make sure that's where u want it so basically the device makes sure u want to hold it like that

also as far as tethering there is USB, WiFi and Bluetooth options we'll have to see what Verizon is going to do with this

now that i played with it i want it more
