Well this kinda makes me happy but like others said the blank front is a little odd...Hmmm maybe....um....they put stickers on the box when it gets to the corporate store to avoid any damage? LOL wishful thinking I'm afraid

Is it possible that VZW is setting up a PR at the NY Samsung store for this evening? That my explain why the Nexus was out for display and not today.

Incorrect. You can return within the 14 day window and pay the $35 restocking fee as many times as you want. I double and triple checked with 611 csr reps and store personell. The common mistake made about the 1 return is that you are only allowed 1 exchange when you are outside the 14 day window.

Correct! I've checked the same policy out as I'm now using a Rezound. It is not meant to be a rental, I am legitimately giving the phone a shot and I love the screen.

To clarify: everything INSIDE the box appears in order. But a plain white box leads me to believe this is NOT NOT a pic from a VZW store. Not retail. Perhaps a review/ test unit. The only time I've seen a plain white box for a phone was either in those instances or when I received a replacement phone on Insurance claim. Even then, it had a Verizon brand logo on the top. Some hopeful folks a grasping.g at straws here. Me? I'll remain patient and realistic by waiting for VZW to spill the beans.

AY AY EVERYONE LOOK AT THIS FROM A VERIZON PR:

Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Facts

  • 200 million Americans covered with 4G LTE (as of Dec. 15)
  • 190 Markets covered (as of Dec. 15)
  • 16 Devices currently available, including eight smartphones
  • Two hot new Xyboard DROID tablets from Motorola coming out this month
  • One anxiously awaited GALAXY Nexus smartphone running Android™ 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, from Samsung, coming soon

WHY ARE THEY SCREWING WITH US

All this back and forth and lack of concrete info is why In picked up my Rezound in the first place. While I'm cautiously optimistic for at least an announcement this week, if not an actual launch, at least it's given me time to put a Rezound through its paces and be able to do a real comparison when the GNex lands in a store. I'm not going to go through pre-order hell because noone's ever home when FedEx comes anyway since my current residence doesn't hold packages for me like my last apartment. Whatever day it's in-store, I'm going to bring all the packing material from my Rezound with me, examine the GNex, then make my exchange on the spot if I'm completely satisfied (which I assume I will be since more people have been saying that the build quality is acceptable). I do wonder if that HD version of the RAZR will land here anytime soon since that would be impressive, but GNex still wins as far as having a swappable battery. Plus, no matter what phone I end up keeping, I'm never going to hook it up to a tv or a laptop dock, so those extra ports and features would be wasted on my anyhow. (I've got 4-5 computers to take care of stuff like that not counting game consoles, and even then I don't take advantage of it.) The phone in and of itself has to be the complete experience for me. And, much as I love my Rezound, as a first-time sense user, I feel as if it's "in my way", for lack of a better term, having come from a Droid 1 and 2. In that respect, I've been waiting for the kind of experience the GNex will provide with timely updates. The question for me will be how long I'll have to wait for all the app developers to make their apps fully ICS supported. Frankly, my Transformer Prime and GNex fun will be a bit limited if half my apps don't even display or run correctly. But, hey, I'm a cutting edge person about to run Windows 8 regularly (along with my Amiga 4000 system and other boxes), so I'm used to growing pains.

Our phones will come. We just need to find something to achieve a bit a tranquility in the interim. :)

It could have a slip cover..

I would have felt better if the boxes were covered with UPC codes, although I understand why they wouldn't want to post pictures of the UPCs. I do find it a little hard to believe a plain white box. My guess is this is a picture of the pre-production packaging and is real. But I bet we get ours with a little more graphics.

On a personal note, I don't care about the packaging. Wrap it up in a brown paper bag for all I care. But I do find a plain white box suspect.

On another note, I think people need to stop obsessing over the lack of news today. if we get anything.......it will start tomorrow afternoon for a Wed pre-order. If no pre-order, then it will be the afternoon before the rumored release date (either 8th or 9th), just like the Bionic got announced the day before. So lets not panic today.

I just called the Samsung Store at Columbus Circle NYC, They confirmed that the phone was pulled off the display this morning, by request. I asked who requested this? He stammered, I said was it Verizon? He said Uuuuuuuuhhhhhhh I am not allowed to give that info, but you know the answer,I said thank you. I know its a CSR?.....Take it FWIW,I am not gonna interogate anyone when I am off duty.

I'm really glad I went to check it out on Sunday. It was around 2:00 and there were tons of people waiting around it to play with it. The screen and camera shutter speed are things that really impressed me the most. Definitely hope this thing comes out within the extended return window that Verizon is offering, as I plan on returning the Rezound I purchased to replace my OG Droid.

They probably took it down to temper internet rumors. How many blog articles came from it being there only for a weekend. VZW probably told them to remove it to cool down the Rumor Blogs, and it'd easier for Samsung to remove the entire display instead of showing a phone that they can't get now (GSM Version) and won't be available right away when the LTE version arrives.

I doubt that VZW had anything to do with Samsung taking down the displays. Having it up for the weekend before the assumed release of Dec 8 makes perfect sense. They put it up to create some buzz and then took it down, no big deal. Remember this is Samsungs phone just as much as VZWs and any PR they can create is good for their sales. If all of the rumors are true this makes perfect sense as we should see it on display in VZW stores on wed when the phones are rumored to be arriving in the store and when the preoder is rumored to be starting. As for not showing the GSM version; It probably has to do with what ever exclusivity the LTE model has. Even if the no other carrier has the nexus right when the phones VZW exclusivity ends I expect them to put up GSM models along with the LTE ones in the Samsung store so that people on other carriers can pick up their goody.

BTW for those on ATT this is just my guess but I would think you will be stuck waiting longer than you may think for this phone as I would expect ATT to want to have the Nexus supporting their new LTE network. Meaning some changes and another trip to the FCC. I just cant see them trying to push LTE like they are and releasing a high end handset that is HSPA+ only.

Maybe Verizon CSRs have just been instructed to write "Galaxy Nexus" in big black magic marker on the box.
