OH MY GOD
I go to school and come back and pictures of THE ACTUAL PHONE IN THE BOX leak? Today is a good day :D
Tomorrow (night) will be better I hope :)

BTW, if I tried calling some local Verizon stores what are the chances that they will have the phone in stock as well? Or was this picture taken in a warehouse or something?

I think there is a reason some reps are confirming the 9th per internal systems and others are saying that have no clue. The internal systems are usually hard to navigate and understand. This was the case when I use to work at bank of America. One employee might give the wrong info out because he Didn't know how to navigate the system correctly. Usually I would have to answer my coworkers questions because some of them didn't know how to access/navigate through the system. Just my 2 cents

Just got off the phone with a rep and they told me that 12/9 is the date for new contracts while 12/8 is the date for upgrades. I guess Verizon is doing something special for current customers to ensure those of us who currently are customers are basically guaranteed we will get it the day it becomes available.

You can call my store: (815) 756-2355

This lines up with what I was told. I was told they usually have meetings on Fridays but have been moved to Thursday.

Now that is pretty interesting. I'd been kind of wondering why the rumors seem to be about 50% for the 8th and 50% for the 9th. That would explain it: *both* dates might be correct.

Or might be wrong. 50% is poor math. Care to figure in those that say "we dont know/ have any info/ can't say etc."? It's more like- 50% this week, 50% later. Just as it has been since mid Nov.

called one of my local stores and the guy was well aware of the gnex. he joked around a bit told me he didnt know anything but he was first in line haha. he took my name and number down and will let me know when he hears anything. I could tell he was hiding something, especially when he said he would be fired if he told me anything else (joking around still). But it sounded like end of this week would be a stretch, probably next week.

also, hi everyone from the incredible forums that remembers me.

Hey man I remember you from the Incredible forums. You were always active in the wallpaper thread!

Cheers!

Stopped by my local Verizon corporate store and popped the obligatory "Do you guys know when the Nexus is going to be released?" questions and they said that it's release is "right around the corner". I looked around the corners of the store and around one corner was a Zaxby's and around the other was a Sprint store. Sprint is getting the Nexus, not Verizon!!

So here is a thought about the difference between the 8th and the 9th. Perhaps on the 8th, CSRs are not allowed to make appts for phones. It is all first come first served that day. Since they want the sale, they are setting up appts on the 9th and saying that is the release date.

I was going to call my local store (Folsom, CA), but then I remembered the last 3 times I've called or stopped by and the annoyed (sick of being asked) or amused (want it also, but have no clue) looks I've gotten every time. :/

I would say there's almost no chance this is accurate. Are they really going to hand one customer the phone and then turn around and tell another that they can't have it yet? There's just no way they would set themselves up for that kind of customer service drama.

Haha, nice! And Welcome!

That makes perfect sense to do it that way... Thanks for the tip!

According to my friend who works at a corporate store in the upper Midwest, VZW corporate stores receive updates to their internal systems by region. That seems strange to me, but I've known this guy for years and I trust him. That might explain why some stores (like the store here in Shreveport) have the GNex in their system and some don't.

How are Bank of America and VerizonWireless the same? Their internal systems are likely very different...

Pardon me for saying this, but it seems as if you are really going out of your way to discredit every possible piece of info we get. I understand that some people have the mentality of, "I'll believe it when I see it/when Verizon says so.", and you have every right to think that way and also to express your skepticism, but at this point it's like every post from you is "Nope, not gonna happen, wrong, you don't know anything, nobody knows anything."

Why go out of your way to do that? Why not chime in when you have something productive to contribute? It's like you live to tell people "NUH UH YOU'RE STUPID!!!" And quite frankly it's annoying and rude. You've made your point, several times over several days. Let other people think/believe what they want.

Of course the content and purpose of the systems are different, but I believe the OP meant that the complexity was likely very similar. Nationwide service, millions of customers, thousands of employees, etc...

Very easy to get things mixed up. And then add humans to the mix...

Edit: Ninja'd

I know the excitement is high and we are all anticipating the phone, but I'm dialing my expectation down and telling myself we won't get this until on or after the 15th just to save myself the trouble of getting upset over Internet rumors. We've been on this ride for a long time now. We ought to know better. If by tomorrow evening/ early Wednesday we hear nothing, we should start looking at the 15th.

Nice bogus account. Yep, the real guy is REALLY going to want to help us now. :rolleyes:

Watch out guys:

Fake = openlyourleyes
Real = open1your1eyes

I think we need to start thinking that they are both fake. The original guy went out on a limb with the statement that the photo from xda came from the Samsung Experience in NYC, which was completely disproved by the photographer himself.
