Help Summary of problems for Triumph

download abjbrightness from market. go to edit and set buttons off.

Thanks, but I didn't want to download a bloated app w/ extra permission requests for something so simple. Turns out CM7's settings in display -> auto brightness -> edit other levels can do it. It also allows setting display dimmer than regular too, saving about 20 mA according to "Current Widget"

For the record, Miui does this too. You can not only customize the display, but also the backlighting for the buttons. You can even set the 'steps' that the auto brightness setting uses. I learned this today and was pretty impressed.

when you go under display setting and disable auto brightness and move the trackball left or right for the screen itself it adjust the buttons as well. cant turn them off completely this way but you can with the app adjbrightness found via market.

Oh, thanks didn't notice that :)

in miui, go to that same settings screen, but go to advanced mode under automatic brightness.

then, at the bottom of the next screen go to 'light levels' and 'use custom', then you can click on edit other levels. Lots of settings to change here. You are looking to edit the button levels for each screen brightness level.

That's nice thanks Jmelz :)

I have the light leakage too on the bottom left of the screen from the 'Menu' softkey (a real quality control issue if you ask me could have been easily prevented with a proper seal blocking the light) I'm not going to send this phone back to VM b/c everything else works.

AdjBrightness turns off the buttons light, but when I turn off the display for sleep mode, I noticed the backlight is partially lit, so I tried SuperDim, same problem, then I tried one more. "Keyboard Backlight' on the market. Very simple app from the same developer as Adj.. it has 3 options, and one locks off the softkey leds, and I don't have the partial back lighting anymore when in sleep mode. should help my battery. MIUI sounds good though I will probably use that eventually.

Does running a custom rom fix most of the issues cause im getting one soon till then my v is good :)

For myself and others, yes - on stock, my GPS was crap; on MIUI or CM7, works just great. Can't imagine that would pertain to the commonly reported light leakage issue - most people with that probably were best off exchanging for another handset. Battery life on Triumph on stock was inferior to my experience with the OV; is improved on MIUI/CM7 but by no means really awesome. Whatever you decide, test every darn thing out when/if you make your purchase and BEFORE you start a-flashin'. Good luck :)

I think we have a problem with Android Forums censoring important information. I am not sure, that is why I am asking about it. Last week I notice a user posted about a possible class action against Motorola Triumph. I contacted him, but noticed that all his post were gone shortly there after. He confirmed that Android forums had banned him for raising this important issue. So If you see this posting and then in a short time its gone you know its true.

Don't worry if I get banned because i have witnesses from a different forum that will backup and give proof of what appears to be a cover up. Is it possible that Android Forum is in bed with the cell phone makers?

I certainly hope this is not true, and one of the reasons for posting this is to allow them to openly defend themselves.

You really believe that, after being a member here for almost seven months?

He confirmed that Android forums had banned him for raising this important issue.

With all due respect, your contact is mistaken. I can categorically state that no member has ever been banned for such a reason. If someone is banned then it's because they refused to follow the Site Rules, none of which prohibit critical posts. Look around the other sections on the site and count the number of complaints. It should quickly become clear that your suggestion is unfounded.

one of the reasons for posting this is to allow them to openly defend themselves.

Again with respect, Android Forums doesn't NEED to defend itself. Its reputation does that. Secondly, as stated above there are literally tens of thousands of critical posts regarding every Android handset available for all to read. That is hardly an example of a site "in bed with the manufacturers".

I remember seeing that post too and its not there anymore, maybe he broke rules by soliciting a business, but class action lawsuits are about businesses and financial stakes.

It's also possible the person was posing as someone who posted important class action info and in reality was scamming people. Happens all the time...
If you're interested in whether class action suits exist as pertaining to a particular device or manufacturer, the information is always made public knowledge ( if a claim or claims actually exist...yet). Motorola's web site would have to have a bulletin relating to this, and would in good faith have to make viable attempts to contact all possible participants, as would any other litigant parties. If someone has a legit class action suit they want to bring about, they make efforts to find as many participants as possible - through legitimate publication means, and not usually on internet forums. I nor any other owners I know have been contacted as such, nor do I see any class action suit information on the MT through a few searches. That does not mean that such a suit does not exist - it could be that some legal entity is gathering the necessary information to contact possible participants and has not done so successfully. Or, just as likely: someone could be yanking your chain. Please remember: just because someone claims to be a member of the legal community, the sad fact of the matter is that there are those that would prey on the uniformed.
I have been involved in many class action suits, both personally and professionally. They take YEARS to orchestrate. If you're eager to find more info, start a thread on just such a topic (while adhering to forum rules, of course) and get in contact with a knowledgeable attorney. Good luck :)

Wow......sorry but I just had to ask......where you buy your koolaid, cause there is a little something extra in it you should be careful of. And I want to be sure I don't shop at that store.

Correct. It's called the trashcan.
