I inquired again about the release date and s/he was adamant that it was going to be the 12th. Take it for what it's worth ... tired from my 13 hour day ... goodnight friends and enjoy!

This is just like someone else who "almost got into a fistfight" with the store manager and said he'd be by to pick up his nexus in a few days, and then when he showed up he was, of course, pissed because they weren't there.

This isn't a confirmation. It's a "Okay, get off the phone."

I have an appointment with a corporate Verizon store for Friday, Dec 9th at 10AM Central. They said they would have one for me. Until I hear different from them I choose to believe I will be getting a Nexus in 3 days.

Absolutely nothing, by themselves. Couple them with what store reps are now consistently saying, and the pics of actual boxes upon boxes of SGN's, and it looks promising.
 
Wow, what is with all the negativity all of the sudden?

CSRs are relevant, because we have probably upwards of 40 confirmations of the 8th or 9th. There is too much message discipline for this to be made up. Nobody is saying this is official, but this type of info is what this thread is all about. Sure Verizon could put a halt to it all, but its really not very likely at this point.
 
So if Verizon is currently in discussions with Google over the wallet issue, could thus be the cause of the delay ?

Recent reports that Verizon is blocking Google Wallet on our devices are false. Verizon does not block applications.

Google Wallet is different from other widely-available m-commerce services. Google Wallet does not simply access the operating system and basic hardware of our phones like thousands of other applications. Instead, in order to work as architected by Google, Google Wallet needs to be integrated into a new, secure and proprietary hardware element in our phones.

We are continuing our commercial discussions with Google on this issue.

Interesting the WAY that's worded, could mean they consider the NFC chip in the Nexus isn't secure?

I'd be interested in finding out the difference between the Nexus NFC chip and the chip used in that sprint phone that can do google wallet.
 
So idk if anybody remembers yesterday but I called a Verizon store in Philly two separate times and two different guys confirmed they had the Nexus in store..


Today I called back and a girl picked up and I asked about info regarding a release date and she told me she hasnt heard anything.. so I asked if they had any in store.. she told me no

It does not matter to me. I at least know that I can save $50 at the store.

If these rumors are true, the one concern is that each store doesn't seem to be getting very many. Having only 10 pieces on hand is not very much.

Yeah, they'll be a product page for sure that you can just add to your cart or when you upgrade.
 
The fact that most stores are still tight lipped or know nothing about this phone and I got a rep to say they had them but they had just pulled the Friday launch earlier this morning, leads me to believe this phone will not launch this week. Still possible, but evidence is mounting.
 
Obviously all of us and dl/ac/phandroid/etc got Verizon's attention somehow that they were probably FORCED to release some sort of statement about NFC and Google Wallet. Now only if it worked for a release date too. :)

Thank you EarlyMon. You're right, that dog don't hunt (I like that one). I am being narcissistic. And I have seen the responses to my posts. I guess it's silly of me to think that it will stop all the speculation and stuff that still goes about. That's the 'fun' of a pre-release thread.

So, we'll see what happens by friday, eh?
