***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I just got off a 33 minute call (mostly waiting for a supervisor) to #611 about moving my upgrade date to the 8th from the 29th of Deember this year. I bought four Incredibles on release and the 2 years is up on the 29th of this month. All of the call was very pleasant and I never asked pressing questions about a relaase date of the Gnex, just told them I wanted the ability to walk in the store (or through telesales if absolutely necesary) on the 8th and pick up only one GNex. (requesting that only one date moved up.)

I was told by Randy CSR Rep that for a 4G phone and the Iphone there is no way in the system he can upgrade early. He can request a M2 (manager override), but he could not do it himself. He asked if I would like to speak to a supervisor who are the only ones whom can approve requesdted M2's. I said this would be great.

I spoke to supervisor James (after quite a delay) and he said that he nor any supervisor has the authority or ability to move up an upgrade date for an Iphone or 4G phone. Verizon has changed the system and this could not be done. He was aware of my interest in the GNex and wanting to upgrade as soon as it came out, but stated he does not have the authority or ability to do this.He was also aware that I have had 4 lines with them for over 10 years and my bills, which never once have been late, run just under $300 per month with data on all lines.

To end the call with James I stated that I was part of a larger forum specifically about the Galaxy Nexus phone and would post this if I heard it correct. He repeated his response about no early upgrade for 4G phones. So I took from the that the long and short of this is I will not be getting a new phone prior to Christams as an upgrade.

So sad.

By the way I nwas offered to move all four line upgrade dates to today if I wanted 3G phones.

I'm not saying that it isn't possible, but just my observations from the general tone of the CSRs I talked to. A couple legitimately had no clue about the phone and one knew about it, said they had pulled a couple of launches already, and just had a notification that they pulled this one. Who knows, could all be lying.

I am really starting to wonder if it was a management decision. Some managers told their employees, some managers are not telling (and probably following instructions from the home office to the letter). JMHO

I'm new here, but I've been following this thread and the phone since October, and before...

I've called several corporate stores in the DFW area, and they've all given me THURSDAY as the release date.

Also, the Cedar Hills, TX store guy told me he was forbidden to open the demo unit till it's checked in, but it's there and he's gonna call me when they've received it in today or tomorrow and call me to come look at the phone!!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

This is just like someone else who "almost got into a fistfight" with the store manager and said he'd be by to pick up his nexus in a few days, and then when he showed up he was, of course, pissed because they weren't there.

This isn't a confirmation. It's a "Okay, get off the phone."

LOL...if you're talking about me, that is NOT at all what happened. :) I ended up speaking with a DISTRICT manager, and he was VERY forthcoming with the 8th being the release date. This was last week, and to my knowledge, that was the beginning of this latest "release of the 8th or 9th" timeframe. He was definitely more in the know than CSR's. However, I haven't spoken with him since, but plan to call him today or tomorrow.

You guys are setting yourself up for disappointment :(

This launch was killed for me. I want the phone, but meh. I'll be happy when I get it and take it out of the box. But the launch was way to botched for me to have the same pleasure that i would have had 2 or 2 weeks ago. All these leaks are doing nothing for me

Sounds like you need to contact the executive contacts we had floating around earlier. That's not right.

My sister works for Verizon corporate, and not as a CSR or phone operator. She tells me it's releasing this week, and I still don't believe it.

Does this give you a good idea of how beat down I feel by Verizon?

the verizon corp store in my area said they were told this morning that it would launch this friday. i asked if they had any demo units and they said they should have them by tomorrow. i'll stop by tomorrow and hopefully get to check one out!

My vote for most likely.

I don't even believe Verizon knows when the launch date will be.

Hello people.

I called a few Verizon stores, two said they knew nothing one said on the 8th but didn't know whether it would be online or pre-order. She said she had none in stock. I called an authorized retailer and they said that most likely the 15th but nothing is confirmed. So same story as everyone else. I am thinking of settling for the Droid 4 if I can't get the Nexus this week. My OG Droid is on it's last leg.

I don't think that (Droid 4) is coming until later in December now.....read it some where...

Welcome to the craziest forum in crazytown! There's no guarantee the Droid 4 will be out this week either (no official Verizon announcement) and I even heard rumors of it being pushed back to Dec 22nd, so the Galaxy Nexus has a slim chance of being out before the Droid 4.

My guess is that given limited supply, some authorized retailers may get them a week later than the corporate stores.

Ok, so let me get this straight. Some people will have them @ their local stores Thursday...and some people will have them Friday. and we're "CERTAIN" of this...so i should just go check Thursday, and if nothing is there, check Friday..and i can have my phone..is that correct. Tia

Thats my battle plan!

I just got off a 33 minute call . . . . .
So sad.

That sucks. :(

If it's any consolation, there's still a 50/50 chance you'll be getting it on Launch Day anyway. :p

No....I don't think it was you. I specifically remember someone walking out the Verizon store saying "I'll see you Friday then" or something like that, and then returning to find it not available, and then getting all pissed off that they "lied to him". I don't think that was you; can't remember who it was.

A friendly and helpful CSR told me, in a lot of detail, the same thing. They said even they were not eligible to upgrade to these new devises. I don't think he said ALL 4g, but the iPhone and the RAZR he mentioned. The top tier phones were not eligible.
