***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Like someone else mentioned, it feels like there IS some sort of date floating around but perhaps store managers are telling people to keep their lips sealed after a couple of CSRs let it slip to several customers. Could explain the discrepancies..

How much you want to bet they'll announce the Droid 4 before the Nexus?

I'm new to this forum and have been lurking for a week now. Just seems that no matter what is said/speculated the day will not get here any faster. Hoping for an early Christmas too.

Why does the title of this thread say confirmed? Am I missing the press release from the big V? Me thinks someone keeps jumping the gun when updating the OP with things like "confirmed" and "significant chats" and so on.

[Hide]You're doing it again.[/Hide]

That being said, he's partially right. You guys really need to check your emotions, just because you called 6 stores and 1 of them said it would be in on Thursday doesn't make it so. In fact, that lends more credibility to it NOT being in. I'm not saying it still couldn't happen, but I don't want to go through the 10 more pages of depression that will happen if Thursday/Friday come and go with nothing.

You guys are setting yourself up for disappointment :(

This launch was killed for me. I want the phone, but meh. I'll be happy when I get it and take it out of the box. But the launch was way to botched for me to have the same pleasure that i would have had 2 or 2 weeks ago. All these leaks are doing nothing for me

Although my viewpoint isn't as extreme as this, I agree with the sentiment. The excitement is starting to wear off, regardless of when it comes out. I'm serious about postponing it for myself if it goes past this week. The TP looks awesome, and if the difference in release date is only a couple of days, I'll probably jump on that and keep the Dinc2 til the SGN goes on sale or until the quad cores come out next Spring.

Verizon really does know how to suck the fun out of everything.

Morons.

I'm probably going to join in and call Verizon later today (after work) and see if they say anything about when I can get the Galaxy Nexus, I'll ask the rep when I can come up and give him my money and see if that gets me anywhere. :)

I will take your lost excitement and add it to mine. One of the perks to being perpetually young at heart. I CAN"T F'N WAIT!!!

I just got off a 33 minute call (mostly waiting for a supervisor) to #611 about moving my upgrade date to the 8th from the 29th of Deember this year. I bought four Incredibles on release and the 2 years is up on the 29th of this month. All of the call was very pleasant and I never asked pressing questions about a relaase date of the Gnex, just told them I wanted the ability to walk in the store (or through telesales if absolutely necesary) on the 8th and pick up only one GNex. (requesting that only one date moved up.)

I was told by Randy CSR Rep that for a 4G phone and the Iphone there is no way in the system he can upgrade early. He can request a M2 (manager override), but he could not do it himself. He asked if I would like to speak to a supervisor who are the only ones whom can approve requesdted M2's. I said this would be great.

I spoke to supervisor James (after quite a delay) and he said that he nor any supervisor has the authority or ability to move up an upgrade date for an Iphone or 4G phone. Verizon has changed the system and this could not be done. He was aware of my interest in the GNex and wanting to upgrade as soon as it came out, but stated he does not have the authority or ability to do this.He was also aware that I have had 4 lines with them for over 10 years and my bills, which never once have been late, run just under $300 per month with data on all lines.

To end the call with James I stated that I was part of a larger forum specifically about the Galaxy Nexus phone and would post this if I heard it correct. He repeated his response about no early upgrade for 4G phones. So I took from the that the long and short of this is I will not be getting a new phone prior to Christams as an upgrade.

So sad.

By the way I nwas offered to move all four line upgrade dates to today if I wanted 3G phones.

Call a different *611. Several of us on here have done that and have had it bumped up or notes put on our account that it can be bumped up when the GNex comes out. That's the nature of the beast of Verizon. If you don't like the answer given, call, call, call again until you get the one that will give you what you want.

Eventually, you can get to a retention specialist and they will do most any reasonable thing to keep your business.

I'm new here, but I've been following this thread and the phone since October, and before...

I've called several corporate stores in the DFW area, and they've all given me THURSDAY as the release date.

Also, the Cedar Hills, TX store guy told me he was forbidden to open the demo unit till it's checked in, but it's there and he's gonna call me when they've received it in today or tomorrow and call me to come look at the phone!!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Welcome to the show! :)

I haven't been to a corp store since this began and inquired about the GN. I did just a few minutes ago it was very amusing. I am picking a 2nd one up for the wife and told the sales rep I needed the latest greatest for a gift. He said oh you need the Nexus Prime .....

Whatcha got for me Anti?

Who botched what? I hate to break the news to everyone, but Verizon is doing exactly what they said they would do; Launching the phone before the end of the year.

The only thing that was botched here was everyone getting their hopes up that their phone would be out on xx or yy date after obsessing over a photo of a fedex truck backed up to a verizon store... (was that a corporate store?)

My sister works for Verizon corporate, and not as a CSR or phone operator. She tells me it's releasing this week, and I still don't believe it.

Does this give you a good idea of how beat down I feel by Verizon?

Han dunno if your sister happens to know if there will be an online sale? Pre order etc?

I still can't help but think that they'll want to do a big marketing push with the GN and Dec 15th, the 1 year anniversary of their LTE. However, it wouldn't surprise me if they do a 'soft release' this week, but still do their marketing blitz beginning next week to coincide with their 4G network. ICS has some very market-friendly things that would be great on TV (i.e. see the Samsung ad on YouTube.)

This is what im doing. The hype is gone for me. I'll deal with my T-bolt with cracked screen.

Uh-oh...this sort of scares me. I plan on using an ALTERNATE upgrade for the Gnex (another line on my plan). Anyone think this will be a problem?

One question about discounts with Verizon (I know there's a thread about discounts, but it hardly gets views):

When I purchase the phone from, say, LetsTalk, would I be able to use my NE2 discount on top of the purchase?

I'm with ya. I'm going on the assumption that nothing will happen this week until Verizon says otherwise. I'm just sitting back and waiting for the inevitable "It's been delayed another 2 weeks headlines to spread like wildfire."

It is, what you make of it.

Hello people.

I called a few Verizon stores, two said they knew nothing one said on the 8th but didn't know whether it would be online or pre-order. She said she had none in stock. I called an authorized retailer and they said that most likely the 15th but nothing is confirmed. So same story as everyone else. I am thinking of settling for the Droid 4 if I can't get the Nexus this week. My OG Droid is on it's last leg.

Hello and welcome here!

I was offered a note to my account approving an early upgrade. But I was later told that when I go to upgrade, if it is for an Iphone or 4G phone it will not work.

i don't believe that at all. when you go to upgrade your device online, it says "eligible for upgrade on..." NOT "eligible for upgrade to certain phones but not others on..."

i'm pretty sure there's just one upgrade date. i chatted with an online CSR yesterday, specifically mentioned the nexus, and he told me that if i call 611 or go into a store they should have no problem moving my upgrade date since it's only 3 weeks away. i could see them hassling you if it's a few months, but for those of us who have had the incredible since day one and are only a few weeks out, it shouldn't be an issue...

This is what im doing. The hype is gone for me. I'll deal with my T-bolt with cracked screen.

I notice you are a fellow Buffalonian. Have you happened to call any local stores to see if they say anything of interest? I plan on doing this after work myself...

Haha, Nada. "We don't have any information about the Galaxy Nexus release date at this time".

Hey all, this has probably been posted already:

Verizon Galaxy Nexus accessories (with pricing) pictured [from the forums] | Android Central

The "Power and Protection Package" seems silly (YMMV if you like cases), but I think the "Spare Battery Charging Kit" is a GREAT deal. For $40, you get an extra battery and the equipment to charge two batteries at the same time. Further, I think the micro-USB Y-cable could actually have other uses too. This might be a question for someone like EarlyMon to answer fully, but it would seem like with the Y-cable, you could attach two micro-USB inputs (ie. an MHL-HDMI adapter and a HID controller); I applied my super awesome art skills and tossed together a diagram in Paint. Someone please tell me if I'm way off here; if not, this could be a very useful thing to have, especially for gamers.

I'm skeptical that MHL wiring/signaling would allow that.

However - I think you'll find the new Bluetooth game controllers are likely to be supported and that will solve the problem.

One way is with OnLive (there used to be a great show of this on the web with the Evo 4G playing to an HDTV, but thank goodness Google now thinks I'm either interested in an Evo online or the Incredible when I search).

Welcome to OnLive

If you don't like OnLive, other options keep popping up.

Ingenu was promising us the Easymote, a BT NES controller, but scrapped that when costs hit $78.

And there is a Wii-like solution for the Photon 4G.

And there is this -

Droid Den GameTel Game Controller Accessory Coming to Android

And a few others floating about.

Point is - I think if you want gaming on your Nexus and you're going to wire it to an HDTV, your best bet may be a wireless controller option.

No....I don't think it was you. I specifically remember someone walking out the Verizon store saying "I'll see you Friday then" or something like that, and then returning to find it not available, and then getting all pissed off that they "lied to him". I don't think that was you; can't remember who it was.

LOL...ok. I left that day, but pleased, with an appointment for Thursday to pick up my GN, but who knows? I called just now, got the Store Manager, she played dumb, just like the other day (when her boss completely contradicted her.)
