Hey All...
...been lurking here for information since October. I didn't plan to join, but then realized that I need to become a part of the community so I can keep up with all of the ways that you use your phone and possibilities! Unfortunately, by lurking, I feel like I know you all and it's been fun reading...a lot of good humor here :) Anyway, I've been through most of the posts on here since I found this thread and have been up and down with you all. I have Thursday off of work and am still optimistic about the 8th (obviously my dog learns faster than me!) I have an OG and my wife has the Eris...we have been waiting since 7/5 for the Bionic, which had it's own rollercoaster ride...only to end with the cars coming off of the track into a pile of rubble. Luckily, I got off in time and focused on this phone. So...6 months isn't too long of a wait (ugh!)

One last comment...TheRoosevelt's Hitler vid was hilarious!!! (We don't even get T-Mobile here!) haha!

Han...don't give up on the Nexus! You owe it to Hanette!! How could you put her through all of that only to pass on it when finally released!?!? :)

Welcome!

You guys are setting yourself up for disappointment :(

This launch was killed for me. I want the phone, but meh. I'll be happy when I get it and take it out of the box. But the launch was way to botched for me to have the same pleasure that i would have had 2 or 2 weeks ago. All these leaks are doing nothing for me

I know exactly how you feel. You're almost better off not reading all this stuff. But it does, at least for me, detract from the whole 'experience'. :(

Looking at my Verizon acct. I have $30 loyalty toward a new phone. It seems everyone here has $50. Did I fail to negotiate something obvious with them!??

Regarding stock shortage, Verizon most likely has delayed this phone almost a month from their intended release date. I would have they have improved their stock situation since then. If they are still having stock issues now, a launch in mid November would have been disasterous.

Yeah, I know.

I just got the confirmation I have been waiting on. Trusted source for many years, Phones in, launch Friday.

Nope, not gonna say more. Dont care if you believe me.

I will have one Friday, unless vzw corp changes the game again.

I have a similar situation that I was alluding to yesterday when I said my rep was being "coy" and not actually confirming the date but gave me hints to confirm the date. The date which I forgot to mention in that post was Friday. I trust her.

I don't care if you believe me or not either...but I trust her.

So ... those of you who have gotten NE2 discounts pushed earlier, just how much earlier are they willing to go?

I have a NE2 in May. Five months seems far enough out that it isn't reasonable to even think about it. Or is it?

The customer service guy on the phone said to me "I can get an upgrade approved almost 100% of the time up to 6 months in advance, anything past that and it's up to the managers"

Like others have said it ALL depends on the CSR you hit. I heard rumors of 6 + months for the Dinc. launch.

the CSR I talked to a couple weeks ago said they can do 1 or 1-1/2 months without a issue, over that gets difficult.

BE NICE, BE NICE, and polite :P Having a large account and long history help :) but the best thing to do is be nice and hope you get lucky.

We tend to think of VZW as one entity but that's not really the case, its more like a country where the directive at the top can get modified depending on regional or even local practices.

how is it possible that with ALL the users on here, not one is a verizon employee that can give us the real gritty news

if they work for VZW, and have any info on the release, they don't need to come in here looking for rumor, speculation, or confirmation. as to why they might not share that info, well, they're probably worried about their job...

Hey I never said the phone would be bug free, only that we would have it by now. Obviously they would want their flagship phone in the hands of Americans by now, but since they can't provide cell phone service (yet) that's not possible, other than through unlocked devices.

That's the point -

Verizon is in the business of selling cellphone service - if they can't do that reliably they might as well close up shop.

Google sells ads via their search engine, making John Q. Public think that they are getting the BEST results when, in fact, you are getting the results that pay the most in ad fees.

All this other stuff they do is just play time with Android being a way to get their ad business in your hands 24x7

I didn't seen any "Demands" but I've also yet to see any word from vzw on the release. Sure I'm trying to believe the 8th...or 9th..or whatever we have "confirmed" here...but after many, many leaks..that haven't panned out..just sucks getting let down. Idk why anyone would question the thread title! k

Apparently more are arriving in stores.

Either he's got small hands or that phone is growing. :)

Based on all of the evidence, the phone will launch this week!

UNLESS, this Google Wallet - Verizon spat escalates... oh gosh...

Actually, now that I think back the Dinc release went exactly the same way.

some were depressed because of being let down, but more and more "evidence" came pouring in. And finally it happened :)

I think the spat should be more about Verizon treating their flagship ICS phone like the ugly big red headed stepchild of their product line.

Some of you will be siting in front of your computers with your arms crossed shaking your heads saying "it's never gonna come!" while us crazy optimistic bunch are customizing our phones.

So, I broke down and decided to call my Corp Store and see where they were at and still nothing. She was nice enough to say that they are definitely getting it, but no date is set yet. I asked about a pre-order period and she said they didn't know. I asked if they would take my name to be contacted and she transferred me to a rep who just took my name and number down. That's all I got.

Just have to keep on keepin' on.

New to the Galaxy Nexus Forum, used to post on the OG Droid forum....

You guys are helping me pass the time at work. This thread is good for a laugh and even some deep thinking from time to time.

Anyway....I wanted to share my obsession with the release date:

I bought a Droid RAZR about 2 weeks ago. I have been having some issues with it, so last Friday I brought the phone into Verizon to see what could be done. I told them point-blank "I'm using this phone until the Nexus comes out." The guy told me I could only exchange my phone once, so if I wanted to stick with the RAZR he could get me another one that might fix my problems, but he said "for example, if you wanted the Nexus, you could come in next week and we could do an exchange for 35$ restocking fee" (i assume that he was just using next week as an example, not literal).

So I meet back up with my friends who were out wandering around, and we go about dissecting this comment. Did he really mean "next week" as in Friday Dec 9, or did he just use it as an example? Did he just mean sometime "next week?" I was trying to remember his tone, face, and body language when he said this. This stupid phone is making me go crazy! I'm really hoping that it does come out this week, but I have to say I'll be disappointed that this thread will probably be dead. At least there will probably be a "Why did I wait so long for this crummy phone" thread popping up sometime soon!
