***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

So is nobody concerned about 10 phones per store (not sure if that's the correct #, but it doesn't sound like a lot)?

Anyone know what a typical number of phones is per store on an average new release?

Based on all of the evidence, the phone will launch this week!

UNLESS, this Google Wallet - Verizon spat escalates... oh gosh...

No worries there. Its Google that is preventing the GNex from getting the app, not Verizon (Verizon can't legally block the app from the phone, since it doesn't affect wireless service quality, they REQUESTED Google not include it, and Google complied). So at least at the moment they are in agreement on the course of action.

So, I broke down and decided to call my Corp Store and see where they were at and still nothing. She was nice enough to say that they are definitely getting it, but no date is set yet. I asked about a pre-order period and she said they didn't know. I asked if they would take my name to be contacted and she transferred me to a rep who just took my name and number down. That's all I got.

Just have to keep on keepin' on.

I got the same answer when I called a local store here in Minneapolis. The guy was really cool though and said he would call me right away if he hears anything.

Something I saw said 15 phones MINIMUM. WHich means lowest volume stores will get 15, who knows about the rest.

Not concerned at all. For the Incredible release my very local corp store had 20 as I was told. I was first that morning.

New to the Galaxy Nexus Forum, used to post on the OG Droid forum....

You guys are helping me pass the time at work. This thread is good for a laugh and even some deep thinking from time to time.

Anyway....I wanted to share my obsession with the release date:

I bought a Droid RAZR about 2 weeks ago. I have been having some issues with it, so last Friday I brought the phone into Verizon to see what could be done. I told them point-blank "I'm using this phone until the Nexus comes out." The guy told me I could only exchange my phone once, so if I wanted to stick with the RAZR he could get me another one that might fix my problems, but he said "for example, if you wanted the Nexus, you could come in next week and we could do an exchange for 35$ restocking fee" (i assume that he was just using next week as an example, not literal).

So I meet back up with my friends who were out wandering around, and we go about dissecting this comment. Did he really mean "next week" as in Friday Dec 9, or did he just use it as an example? Did he just mean sometime "next week?" I was trying to remember his tone, face, and body language when he said this. This stupid phone is making me go crazy! I'm really hoping that it does come out this week, but I have to say I'll be disappointed that this thread will probably be dead. At least there will probably be a "Why did I wait so long for this crummy phone" thread popping up sometime soon!

BB started a thread for us when this one goes dark. Great idea as I would have terrible withdrawal. Welcome.

Just called my local corporate store, salesperson understands there is alot of buzz about this phone. When asked if I could pick it up on Friday, 12/9, he said he needed to check to see if there was anything official announced yet and he said no, but they did receive stock in so he would expect it to happen any time now and will call me when he gets official word for me to go in and pick it up!

Just exciting to actually HEAR that they HAVE the phone in the store already, just waiting on the official drop date... can't come soon enough.

I think there is more to it. Wasn't there a claim that Google said Verizon requested the functionality not be included?

Unless you wait a few weeks I don't think there is anything to worry about. The vast majority of people have never even heard of the phone.

Only us super phone nerds will be going in that first day, and there aren't that many of us.

Either it's launching on the 9th, or Verizon has a thing for hiring liars.

The same can be said about the Verizon employees who are saying it's been delayed. Either way, someone is lying. That's why I'm not getting my hopes up. Until it comes from Verizon in a PR announcement and the phone is on their website, I'm still going with "later this year".

quick question / thought...

when i log into my account online, it says "eligible for discount on 12/29/2011" which i'm sure is because i got the incredible on launch day (which was 4/29/2010). i'm trying to get that moved up so i can get the nexus on friday, if that ends up being the day...

is that my NE2? or is that just the day i can upgrade at subsidized pricing? i don't remember ever using a NE2 - my first verizon phone was the old samsung alias, to which i went the samsung rogue on an annual upgrade, then went to the dinc six months later using their promotion to get people to upgrade to smartphones...

Actually, now that I think back the Dinc release went exactly the same way.

some were depressed because of being let down, but more and more "evidence" came pouring in. And finally it happened :)

i didn't really follow the DInc launch....how did they finally announce the phone and how long before it actually released?

I've got a $50 NE2 coming up too though so I don't think I'm going to be able to get customer loyalty on top of it.

I'll let you guys know if I do. That would be $100!

what the hec is the difference between ne2 adn customer loyalty? I thought they were the same? I've been waiting to use my NE2 since May

I think you are right actually.

I already have a $50 ne2 coming up so I might have missed that they merged the 2.

I might just give it one polite/calm call and see if anything happens but I doubt I'll get both.

i have the same issue. i have my unused NE2 discount ($30) on my OG, and i also got a flyer in the mail, with my specific number, saying that i have $30 in Loyalty Credit. I called customer service, and was told that they "think" those are one and the same. i was transferred to customer loyalty service, and they couldn't tell for sure. they made a note on my account, and said to just try and use the coupon when i purchase it, and see if they will give me the extra $30 or not. no promises...

I want to use this $50 Living Social, assume telesales open at 12:01 to take my order?

check the Living Social confirmation. i'm pretty sure that it only works in-store (and may actually be further limited to only VZW corporate stores, not resellers).

Looking at my Verizon acct. I have $30 loyalty toward a new phone. It seems everyone here has $50. Did I fail to negotiate something obvious with them!??

i think it depends on what kind of plan you have, and how much you spend per month. i'm grandfathered into an old, cheap, unlimited talk and data plan from Alltel, so i don't pay "VZW prices" for my plan. i think that's why i only have $30, and others have $50.
