fwiw, no stock yet here either @ corp. store. said don't have any release date information and normally don't get that til a day or 2 before available.

Also, the Cedar Hills, TX store guy told me he was forbidden to open the demo unit till it's checked in, but it's there and he's gonna call me when they've received it in today or tomorrow and call me to come look at the phone!!

Anyway....I wanted to share my obsession with the release date:

I bought a Droid RAZR about 2 weeks ago. I have been having some issues with it, so last Friday I brought the phone into Verizon to see what could be done. I told them point-blank "I'm using this phone until the Nexus comes out." The guy told me I could only exchange my phone once, so if I wanted to stick with the RAZR he could get me another one that might fix my problems, but he said "for example, if you wanted the Nexus, you could come in next week and we could do an exchange for 35$ restocking fee" (i assume that he was just using next week as an example, not literal).

So I meet back up with my friends who were out wandering around, and we go about dissecting this comment. Did he really mean "next week" as in Friday Dec 9, or did he just use it as an example? Did he just mean sometime "next week?" I was trying to remember his tone, face, and body language when he said this. This stupid phone is making me go crazy! I'm really hoping that it does come out this week, but I have to say I'll be disappointed that this thread will probably be dead. At least there will probably be a "Why did I wait so long for this crummy phone" thread popping up sometime soon!

Yeah, I was just pointing out that it seems we're gonna get even less build up to release than we had for the Dinc. The Dinc launch date was announced 2 weeks before release with a 10 day preorder.

If the overwhelming rumors are right, it's going to be a very different launch. Even with the Dinc I don't believe they had a strong advertising campaign until weeks after launch. This was probably due to the fact of supply issues, but who knows.

I still believe 9th is our date, with a sliver of hope for purchase by request only on the 8th.

Right, Verizon REQUESTED Google not include Wallet. Google complied. But it is in no way a demand, or term of contract (If a term of a contract is illegal, either the individual term, or the entire contract, is invalid). So if Google decides they don't want to hold the functionality back anymore, I don't think there is anything Verizon can do about it. Kind of makes you think back to the whole Google/Verizon clash we heard about from The Source. If Verizon knew when they were agreeing to carry this phone that they wouldn't be able to prevent Google from allowing Wallet on the phone, I can see them passing on it, with as much money as they have tied up with Isis.

I also have just a $30 discount and was curious... here's what I found on one of VZWs support forums:

This is what's called the NE2 discount. If you are the primary line on the account, with a calling plan of $39.99/month or higher (I believe this is the amount) you are eligible for an extra discount at 20 months into your 2 year contract.

If you signed your last contract with Verizon before Feb. 14, 2009, with a calling plan of $39.99-$74.98/month you will get $50 off.

If you have that same calling plan but signed a contract after Feb 15th, 2009, you will get $30 off.

If you signed a contract before Feb. 14th 2009 with a calling plan of $79.99 and up, you will get $100 discount.

If you have the calling plan of $79.99 and up, but signed a contract after Feb 15, 2009, you will get the $50 off.

the NE2 is an additional discount, the date is when your eligible for the "discount" prices listed on the site for signing a new 2 year contract.

That said they 'can't" move your date up, they can override the date to let you order the phone early, but that can't be down till you can actually order the phone. Some people (I have) called and had notes put on our accounts saying we can upgrade.


Disclaimer: this is for most phones on VZW, iPhones generally can't be upgraded, they is some speculation the GN will fall into this catagory(I personally don't think so)


Disclaimer 2: ALL of this can change depending on which human being you hit and what mood their in. Most of the "rules" can be bent or even broken by the right people at VZW

Called 2 stores in the Western Chicago suburbs. 1st store told me " It will for sure be by the end of this week" but was waiting confirmation on pricing. He then told me I couldn't come in and buy it off contract/full retail which I thought was weird.

2nd store spent 5 minutes on the phone with while he dug around for information. He told me if I was eligible for an upgrade he would be able to order it for me. He said he can only provide an unofficial date of the 8th or 15th at this time. He said there would be no issues with me coming in to buy off contact/full retail.

What's funny is I forgot that in the Dinc launch, their staging site was found on the 13th, preorder announced on the 14th, preorder started 19th, launched 29th, with some preorders being received early on the 28th.


I got mine on the 28th :D

2 years ago, verizon announced (promised me) my nexus phone. Now I might actually be getting it; unless they change their mind again like they did two years ago.
