I just came back from a crazy scene at my local Verizon Wireless. I walked in to inquire about the Galaxy Nexus and I see Shawn Michaels in the store doing the very same thing! His convo with the VZW salesman went like this.

SM: Any solid date on when the Galaxy Nexus will be out?

VZW: We haven't heard anything concrete yet unfortunately, we have the same info you do from the internet.

SM: Really brother, I've been waiting for this phone for 2 months and your company hasn't said a damn thing.

VZW: I was waiting too, I feel your pain. I actually got a Droid Razr, which is an exceptional phone. Can I interest you in one?

SM: I'm just a Nexi Boy

Me in background: Nexi Boooooooooooyyyyyyyy

SM: Don't want no Droid Toy

Me in background: Droid Toooooooooyyyyyyyyy

He then proceeded to Sweet Chin Music the salesman, walk into the back (Where they already had the Nexus in stock), and forced him to ring up the sale which half conscious. I reached my hand out, asking if I could see Shawn's phone before he walked out and he said "Hands of the merchandise". He then left the store. I then talked to the Salesman, who gave me the same pitch he gave Shawn about getting a Razr.

I replied: I am a Galaxy Nexican, I'll wait till the 9th like every man.

Early Upgrade Customers!

So I'm trying to get a Nexus on Friday with an early upgrade, has anyone else been successful in trying to get this arranged with the store manager so it's already ready to go on your account?

My upgrade is on January 28th so it's not too far.

I had two stores turn me down and say they can't do it for the Nexus but could for any other phone, and the other store the manager took my name and number and said "If it comes out on Friday, we could probably do that" so who knows what that means.

use upgrade for rezound. return during exchange period for nexus. profit.

I'm surprised how many people got to actually try the phone in a store tonight :O Seems like some employees aren't following the whole "don't let customers see the phone until 12/9" thing...

Lol my guy couldn't care less, and the rest of the store is behind him. The manager was playing with it when I walked in and handed it to me, probably safe from getting in trouble.

Phone felt absolutely amazing in the hand, it's hefty enough to feel quality and the back is contoured perfect. Felt big for sure, but definitely better than the RAZR or X/X2 and much less like a brick (a la Rezound/Tbolt). Screen blew me away. Literally thought it was a high def picture pasted on the front, it's that clear. Photos weren't WOW amazing, but definitely better than the blogs have said and WAY more than I will ever need out of a phone. I can't wait for Friday.


PS: Rep said they have NO confirmation of pricing but have heard $199 thrown around, take it FWIW. I'm personally going to plan on $299 and be excited as heck if it comes as $199.

Aww, well where in North Jersey are ya? I also called the Verizon Corporate store at the Garden State Mall, and they stated that they will have it on the 9th as well. So if you're anywhere near there, then you could go over there. That's what I'm going to do, as I am more familiar with the Garden State Mall than Paramus.

I definitely plan to have my GNEX in the nude. I don't like cases you really miss out on the feel of the device.

Meanwhile, at on-topic headquarters, if I have a buddy who works at a verizon corporate store, but in another state, is there any way I can walk into a store in my state, tell the folks there his employee number so he gets the credit for the nexus sale, but I get to walk out with an SGN without waiting for shipping?

Ok i've seen alot of posts about this but the thread moves so fast I have yet to get an answer. If I buy my phone at a corp. store is there any way I can get an unopened box or do they have to open/activate the phone for me.

I wanna be the first one to touch........

Ok i've seen alot of posts about this but the thread moves so fast I have yet to get an answer. If I buy my phone at a corp. store is there any way I can get an unopened box or do they have to open/activate the phone for me.

They;ll open and activate it for you.

They have to put all the phone info into the computer on your account. Seriously though, ask them, they might let you touch it first.

It's your phone that you bought. I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to have that happen.
