I heard those commercials too...

Any luck with any stores in the Buffalo area?

I called three stores. The one closest to me (niag. falls blvd.) was rude and just said they had no info.

The one on walden just said it was going to be soon but they didn't know when, and had no stock.

The one on transit was slightly more helpful, but maybe mis-informed. He assured me it would be within a week, they didn't have any stock or accessories. I asked if there would be a pre-order and he put me on hold for 5 minutes and came back and said "I've been told there WILL be a pre-order".

I felt really left out with everyone else getting confirmations from their stores...

good morning everyone! this thread sure has taken a positive turn lol :) anyway, guess ill give it until about lunch and ill start trying the 12 stores i got no from yesterday all over again.... or maybe vzw will wise up and put out a PR this morning :D

Gooooooood morning sexy Nexies! I'm still not expecting anything from Verizon today but I do believe we will have our phones on Friday.
I BELIEVE!! I BELIEVE!!

Haha me too! The one bad thing about all of this is this week is going slow because of the GNex, and next week is going to be slow because it will be my last week before I take my two week Christmas vacation.

PS How do you get by on so little sleep?!

PPS in honor of my 3000th thank, I just want to say how awesome everyone is here. I'm honored you feel my posts are worthy of your thanks.

I went to the Walden store last night and I asked a rep who had to ask someone else, it almost sounded like she knew something but couldn't say, anyways the dude she asked comes over almost yelling, "We don't know anything, we don't have any information".
Verizon is handling this release horrendously.

I'm on hold right now with a csr, she didn't mention the nexus at all as far as phones i'm eligible to buy. So i mentioned it. ( as if i don't know much about the phone :) and she looks it up and says. " oh, that is available now" then she studdered and said let me check"

Agreed. I got that same feeling when I talked to the Walden store last night. When he told me it was within a week he had an odd tone of voice. IDK, maybe he was just tired of everyone asking. Lol

OT:

Just saw an article about VZW and Microsoft WP7 and LTE support, all microsoft would say is its on the "roadmap"

ROFL

It's sad to see MS drop the ball so badly AGAIN, their desperate to re-gain market share and blow such a good chance to encourage folks to switch. OMG 4G I WANT, would have been such a good opportunity, now we're on basically the second gen. android(LTE) phones and they don't even have anything close...

It's too bad that they are tired of everyone asking...

If Verizon would just put out a press release then maybe their employees wouldn't have to deal with it.

She said its "coming soon" which she said means it will release in a day or two usually.

Now i asked about the 3G to 4G $100 coupon. Smh. "Only in the mid west"

Well sucks i'm in the 757 and not eligible for that huge discount. But i can say i'm confident the phone will release this week, not monday. Especially with verizon launching phones typically on thursdays... aw sheit. Its too early to be this excited. I'm about to explode in my pants

in the accessory leaks i haven't seen the landscape home dock, has anyone else? I want to pick up that and the car dock at launch, but it looks like that might not be the case...

Yeah not really sure what their justification for waiting is anymore. I have a feeling they changed the date to coming soon in that one system specifically to stem the tide of appts being set for Friday, since that is where I imagine most CSRs were getting the date from. Kind of silly at this point. The cats out of the bag verizon. Get with it.

You would think America's largest wireless provider would know what they are doing...

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the open-adventure that comes with an Android platform, but the polish & fluidity of WP7 on MEH hardware makes Android look silly. I guess that's what you can do if you control every aspect of the hardware and software (ala iOS?)

Gooooooooood Moooooorrrnniiing GNexers! (in my best Robin Williams impression.) wow we were busy last night, I came back to over 500 posts to catch up on. I am thinking today will be the last day we are all in the same boat. With all the stores getting them, there has to be one that will break the rules tomorrow... Anyone else think with all the reps confirming the ninth for release, and we are going to see a press release finally today?
I'm hoping I can get one to break the rules. Yesterday I called my nearest store and explained that I lived 90 minutes away and asked if there was any way I could pick up the phone Thursday.

The agent was really nice and said I shouldn't make the trip just to buy the phone, but if I was in town feel free to drop by and check.

Maybe if I promise not to activate it until the 9th? :D

So after seeing online how stores were getting the Galaxy Nexus in already I called two local stores here in Wichita Kansas. I asked both if they had got the Nexus in yet.........one store said no and would say nothing else. The other store was more helpful.......the lady said yes but there was no release date, I asked when is the soonest I could pick one up........put me on hold and said she is not sure yet. So she took my number and said she would call me as soon as she could. She said they have received some calls about the phone already from other geeks like me.

Well THEY know what they are doing but it sure ain't making much sense to those of us watching. Seriously I think the execs have their fingers in their ears going "lalalala I can't hear you! "

To play devils advocate, maybe they know exactly what they are doing. We have to assume they delayed due to a software issue that did not pass their testing. Now, for us this could have been a very minor bug, but to VZ anything minor could hold up a release for them. I don't think the fact that it doesn't have bloat and it's not a moto device has any bearing on them releasing this phone, and I can't see them holding back this to sell more razr's. It just doesn't make sense.

During the delay, they see an EXTREME demand for the phone. I think the number of people anticipating this phone has grown quite a bit during that delay, and perhaps VZ sees that as a good thing. The less information they release, the more we are clamoring for this thing. They have put out ZERO advertising, yet still have thousands of sales guaranteed for the first day. If they were smart, they would LEAK their own information, to pick up even more steam before offering it for sale officially.

Now, that being said, I really do wish they had treated this differently and release the phone a month ago and let an OTA fix whatever the bug was.

That was kinda of my point, WP7 is functionally competitive with Android and iOS. The issue is convincing people to give it a shot.

4G could have been that "shiny" thing to encourage folks to look at it, and they blew it.

WP7 is indeed pretty slick. However, that slickness comes at the cost of a lot of features missing, and it does look pretty ugly.

Sadly, you can't sell a product without some good specs behind it. Even Apple tends to play that game somewhat. If MS got thier act together and released on current hardware (no 4G and no dual core is unforgivable at this juncture), added some of the features that other handsets have (Mango was a huge step forward), then WP7 could be a serious alternative.

Homescreen still looks ugly as dirt though. Let us customize it.
