I can't help but wonder with all the anger going around on here directed at Verizon what would happen if they were to release a phone with a fairly serious problem?

When you're talking about sales of a particular model that can approach a million, hearing from this or that blogger that a phone runs well is just anecdotal evidence of stability. A failure rate of just 0.1 percent would mean a thousand people with issues! Trust me, Verizon wants to take your money for this phone! That said, they have a hard and fast rule: protect the Network.

How?

I really thought that I was going to hit Powerball 2 weeks ago - my wife even agreed. The store clerk said, "Good Luck - that one's a winner" and everything. I didn't win.

I'm blaming the store clerk. He really dropped the ball on that one!!

Michael Bolton: That's the worst analogy I've ever heard in my life, bnace.
Samir: Yes, this is horrible, this idea.

Called My Costco Wireles Advocates Kiosk guy and he told me less than 2 minutes ago,

"It was announced to us just today by our offices it will be available on the 9th". I asked, of December? He said "Yes Friday".

Yeh, I come off and numb and condescending, but I am human eh?

I hope for the sake of discrediting those blogs it does.

Hmmm.... be my first stop Friday AM :-)

IF it is LTE issues, how much longer do you think it could be? and I thought the LTE issues were only for the RAZR...

If the 9th is off, that's certainly disappointing, but let's put things in perspective. We know we are very, very close to the launch of this phone: employees have been trained, systems have been updated, and stacks of these phones are sitting in store stockrooms right now.

If Verizon decides they need to delay the launch to resolve a network issue, it won't be a long delay. There is no way they're going to let a bunch of unsold inventory sit in their storerooms for days on end.

Compare where we are today to where we are a week ago. We are much closer to a release. It might not happen on Friday, it might not happen on Monday. But it's almost here. I really can't believe that anyone who has waited this long would bail now.

The incipio case I just picked up is smaller then the rezound in otterbox case.

Im excited. Lol

Sent from my rezound stuck on 3g in Maryland

I don't think Verizon has ever released a completely bug free Android device...plus the have had plenty of time to test!

LTE issues? Although I can understand if that were the reason, it's pretty frustrating they couldn't just release the darn thing with a disclaimer ("Large segments of our LTE networks are currently experiencing outages, please bear with us as we resolve the issue"). If nothing is wrong with the equipment itself...

nj02, I suppose you can start the 100 thanks now. No reason to postpone.

I am sorry, my friend. But that's the way the dice came up.

I take no pleasure in receiving them.

I agree if it is another software issue I may pass. The Razr and Rezound are looking like good alternatives. Gingerbread is just fine for me.

The phone has been out for a while, sure there are going to be some differences on Verizon, but it's basically the same phone that has been reviewed already, and otherwise, it's probably Verizon's own changes that cause issues.

Now there have been bugs with the phone, but not an unusual amount you would see when a phone with a new OS is releases.

Very well said.

I believe Verizon knows they have a difficult situation on their hands... the GN rollout and a big expansion of the LTE network. If they put two and two together and get three, the general public will know that they messed up. And that's the last thing they want.

At this point, the phone had better be FLAWLESS! The repeated delays(perceived or not, releasing a month after the rest of the world is a delay) are supposedly for "testing" and getting "bugs" "fixed". If this phone is anything less than perfect at this point, people are going to be even more upset that Verizon has had this much time to work everything out and still released an inferior product in terms of QA. At this point, they're screwed either way. Had they released it at day 1 with the rest of the world, then they would have an excuse and could say they tried to give us what we wanted as soon as possible and to be patient with OTA bug fixes. Now they've waited and waited and if a bug comes up after release, all hell is going to break loose on them, and it's on no one but THEM.

Maybe if the testers didn't spend all of their time checking this forum waiting for the Nexus to come out, maybe the testing process wouldn't take 5 days.

I'm SHOCKED!

but really though, after calling corporate store the past 2 days and they've said they do not have the phone yet or any information on the phone until a day or 2 before release..i stopped in at a non corporate store today and they put me on a list saying the 9th is the day. haha yeah ok.. then come home and read this stuff. i thought for sure everything was confirmed. was in the thread title and everything. we jump the gun because we are fiending for this phone. stupid vz.

Okay guys, just got a text from my sister:
I think they just need to release on the 9th with a form we have to sign which says we accept a beta product, which will have bugs, and we wont blame them on the network or Verizon. Who else would do that with me?
If BB and Radioshack are getting stock I may be tempted to take my money elsewhere if they ignore what the corp stores are doing with their stock. Why sit on them if you can pretend you just didnt see that memo come into your inbox and make yourself some commission.

Okay guys, just got a text from my sister:

Heard bugs have come up. Tried to get a fix for OTA update when you activate it, but don't know if they were able. Don't know if 9 is still good. I'm still asking around. :-(

This is exactly what I feared.

Verizon heard an outcry created over a bad USB cable being wrongly attributed to the update and now the pointy heads, without full facts in hand, are withdrawing to cover their butts until they hear 8 times that there is no reason to panic.

PS to all - snark over mod PSAs isn't really polite. Did I really have to explain that?
