***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Called My Costco Wireles Advocates Kiosk guy and he told me less than 2 minutes ago,

"It was announced to us just today by our offices it will be available on the 9th". I asked, of December? He said "Yes Friday".

Yeh, I come off and numb and condescending, but I am human eh?

I hope for the sake of discrediting those blogs it does.

Delay rumors make no sense. Phones were shipped to stores, they were told not to sell until the 9th. Verizon knew when they gave this operation the OK that there's no turning back. They wouldn't have initiated this operation if they were'nt 100% ready to sell.

My local Corp story... (happened before the 9th cancellation story broke)

Store said they didn't have a firm release date. They only know of rumors, heard the 11th. (Really?!? The eleventh? Have you confused yourself with Best Buy?) Then he said, "Honestly man, if you're seeing a lot of rumors about the 8th, it's very likely to be true." But they did say they have everything in stock already, phone & accessories. (Everything? Including the supposed unavailable docks? IDK, I didn't ask for specifics) But they said everything. They went ahead and allowed me to set up a meeting 9am Friday. The girl (switched to a different salesmen) said "Alright if It does in fact release on Friday, I'll be here ready to help you."

Now I get off the phone and read the 9th has been canceled..... I should take a carton of eggs and a flaming bag of dog **** and let em have it once I leave with my new phone :D

So log on for the first time this morning and wow the mood is way different then yesterday. This swing is due to one person and his 'sources' saying not happening Friday? I swear we need a mood barometer on the OP.

Anyone think that maybe VZW has gotten an earful from their employees about all the calls they are fielding for a device they haven't announced and this is just some misinformation. The web has been lit up like a Christmas tree the last few days and damn it I wouldn't want anyone to steal my PR thunder. Misinformation is an effective tool.

I was told the 9th is a go at my local corporate store last night.

He told me I shouldn't bother making an appointment and just come in Friday morning/whenever and I should be just fine.

I remember his name.

Guess what?

I'll be in there Friday morning looking to buy my Nexus, if I get ran around.. I'll have a nice few choice words for the manager.

I would say send them an email but they would never see it. I'm not sure what the best avenue to voice displeasure is that might actually reach the people who have some measure of power to affect it.

The problem is, what are you going to tell them your upset about? A Phone they said they would release by the end of the year, that seemingly will release by the end of the year?

"Lack of communication" about a device that is the same as their communication on essentially every non-Droid named device?

Thanks, and I would just like an update of any sorts, they haven't said anything official in months now, and have let the rumors run wild, if they just came out and just reassured us it'll release this year I would calm down more.

This is the text from the article:

It seems that the update is just an add-on that corroborates the story, not the one piece of evidence he's hanging his hat on.

Still doesn't look good to me.

I took it to mean that multiple sources sent him the new Equip. Guide screen, since that is accessible by every Verizon Wireless employee, including in-store sales people.

If he had some other form of proof, like a different screen or an e-mail that says "it is NOT launching the 9th", my guess is he would have posted it along with article...

Either way, we have no confirmation of anything at the moment so it is best not to assume the 9th is definitely not happening. We only have a line that was REMOVED from the Equipment Guide, not something that inexplicably states "the 9th launch is NO LONGER happening". HUGE difference IMO.

This was the SAME thing that happened with the "16/32GB" deal a few weeks back btw.

Simply repeating as I said I would.

For those that missed the update on the story -

The screen going nuts on the Nexus after the update was traced to a bad USB cable.

Many of you with other phones may have experienced the same issues when cheap cables are used without shielding/wiring.

~~~~~~
Droid-Life reported that the launch may be delayed, but that this might be rumor and that it was best to keep that idea on the down low.
They have not updated their article.
Nonetheless, other blogs are running it as fact.
~~~~~~~~

Some here are reporting that their local stores are pulling back on the release date of the 9th.

The facts on this are still emerging.

It's a tough beginning to the day, and I'm proud of everyone who keeps their language in check and doesn't succumb to going after each other's throats now.

The full facts here will reveal themselves shortly - as they always have.

Meanwhile, to get to the facts ourselves, I am asking that if you have been confirmation of your Friday purchase, if you want to contact anyone, please contact only that store. Flooding all stores with calls will simply rob others of their ability to buy a phone easily - not everyone wants or can afford the Nexus and they deserve service today as much as you do.

So, I'm asking - please call just your store if you were promised Friday and report back on your results.

It'll be a rough day for a while, but I'm counting on everyone here to pull together as a team. I know you all can, I've seen you do it - we need that now more than ever.

Thank you!

This announcement may repeat on upcoming pages until we know more or until the wrong info sparked by a bad USB cable dies out.

Phil had this to say at Android Central
Not to wade too deep into the cesspool that's become the Verizon Galaxy Nexus rumor mill but, yes, we've gotten numerous tips that the unofficial Dec. 9 date has been taken off the table.

We just got off the phone with Verizon, who reiterated to us that "We haven't announced an official date for it yet." So that's that.

Not sure if it has anything to do with the localized LTE problems we've been hearing about -- Verizon didn't really comment on that either. But think back to the messy launch of the HTC ThunderBolt, which was delayed after a major LTE outage.

Also, I got an out-of-office message from our usual corporate PR contact, who's gone through that supposed Dec. 9 date. Hard to imagine a launch without the head PR contact being available, no? (That's my speculation though.) I'm not going to give the contact's due back, though. Will cause unwarranted speculation.

Anyway, that's where we stand. Let's keep the roaring to a minimum.

:(

I have an appointment tomorrow morning (supposedly) to get my GN. I hope I'm not disappointed and they tell me to come back on Friday. I will probably call to confirm....but also considering just showing up...they may have sympathy for me and let me get it early! (or not) :)

I find the whole Thursday or Friday situation very odd. Multiple users have reported that they are getting one tomorrow and others are saying Friday. Seems strange to me, and perhaps is just more proof that no one knows what the hell is going on.....:(

If this really is a delay (and let's be honest, it sure feels like one), I wonder if it has anything to do with Google Wallet. Yesterday Google basically put all the blame for Verizon's G-Nex not getting Wallet onto Verizon. Verizon obviously felt the heat of this blame because they shortly retaliated with a PR of their own stating some really confusing mubo-jumbo of how they aren't blocking this app, what they're really doing is blocking this app but for good technical reasons.... Now, they decide to stick it to Google by throwing the launch in hiatus. This has to be very last minute based on all of the leaks we got confirming the 9th as a launch day.

Verizon knew that the equipment screen would get leaked. They knew 12/9/11 would be plastered all over the internet.

I'm not holding this to any of the blogs that leaked the information because by now Verizon should have known better. If the phone is in fact delayed again, I'm treating it as Verizon delayed the phone after announcing the phones release date.

Ok, got confirmation. Corporate store DID recieve an email cancelling the 9th as the launch date, I talked to the same manager that set my appt up last night. He said I could come check out the phone, because they did recieve them in the store last night. Also he would call me as soon as he got new info.

Sorry folks.

Verizon has really botched this one.

How?

I really thought that I was going to hit Powerball 2 weeks ago - my wife even agreed. The store clerk said, "Good Luck - that one's a winner" and everything. I didn't win.

I'm blaming the store clerk. He really dropped the ball on that one!!
