***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Hey guys, I just want to say, I am just as frustrated as yall, but no amount of yelling, kicking, screaming, cussing, or whatever else you feel like doing to or at VZW is going to change their mind on this. Whatever popped up yesterday is serious enough to cancel launch in VZWs eyes, and no outpouring of rage will change their mind. And it is just a phone after all. A peice of metal, plastic, silicone, and glass. Not something to let your blood pressure rise even a little.

Looks like I'm out of getting the GN then. Just spoke to Verizon and in order to get the Holiday return policy it has to be a non activated phone. My OG died so I have no back up to return to. I'm stuck with the Bionic unless I can find a old phone to use and return this one.

That sucks!!

Just got off the phone with my local corporate store, he said they were told yesterday that Friday was indeed the launch date, and they were just told about a half hour ago that it will be pushed back "a few days" due to LTE issues. He gave me his name and number and said I can contact him anytime about the issues and release date.

And although that may provide comfort to some, it scares the HELL out of me. Why? Because as I've said several times before, this is, without a doubt, the one thing I'm most concerned about in the GNex...Samsung's radio.

So if this is now the 'latest issue', it's very concerning to me. I know others feel differently, but they never had the Charge.

I don't think Verizon has ever released a completely bug free Android device...plus the have had plenty of time to test!

Software is never bug-free. That's an unreasonable standard; it's basically impossible. That doesn't mean testing is pointless. You want the product to be as good as you can reasonably make it. And releasing a product with known serious problems that you can easily fix would be irresponsible.

My sister called and said that the info she received over "bugs" came from a person who isn't working today and talked to her by cell phone from home.

So the info might be a bit old.

She is still going to ask around, but she says she is really swamped today and has a few meetings throughout.

Two press releases so far today, both about expansion of 4G networks.

Welcome To Verizon Wireless

Yay! one of those talks about a Dec 15th intro in the NY Mid-Hudson Valley (Poughkeepsie-Kingston)!

The 4G LTE network is currently available in more than 179 cities, including Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, Orange County and the New York City area. It will be available in the Poughkeepsie-Kingston area on December 15.

An even BETTER reason for me to get my Nexus! :)

....if it ever comes out, that is. :mad:

sorry to hear the news guys and gals :(

longest rollercoaster ever... for real

hopefully these latest rumours are BS and even if they aint, hopefully you can sneak some from resellers. ah, i don't know...wth

Yesterday, it was the Rezound being all crappy because of the bad LTE radio.

Verizon had a large-scale service problem within the last 36 hours.

It had zero to do with phone models.

When phones reported reliably to work suddenly fail based on region - it's the carrier.

Very well said.

I believe Verizon knows they have a difficult situation on their hands... the GN rollout and a big expansion of the LTE network. If they put two and two together and get three, the general public will know that they messed up. And that's the last thing they want.

I think we over-inflate the hype of this phone...most normal Android users couldn't care less that this is a Nexus device or that it's running Ice Cream Sandwich.

This is an Android enthusiast's dream phone...to the general public it's just another phone.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it probably won't sell as well as most people in this forum think it will.

I really want this phone, but if they're going to only delay it a couple of days I can live with that. As long as it's released before the 27th when I need to return my Droid RAZR I'll be golden!

This is exactly what I feared.

Verizon heard an outcry created over a bad USB cable being wrongly attributed to the update and now the pointy heads, without full facts in hand, are withdrawing to cover their butts until they hear 8 times that there is no reason to panic.

~~~~~~~
PS to all - snark over mod PSAs isn't really polite. Did I really have to explain that?
Early, I would HOPE Verizon would have done a quick verification of the isolated incident before pulling a launch. And I would also hope at least ONE VZW tech employee is smart enough to see what you did.
On the bright side, it won't take but a couple hours to confirm it was an isolated incident, maybe they re-instate the 9th...
The phone has been out for a while, sure there are going to be some differences on Verizon, but it's basically the same phone that has been reviewed already, and otherwise, it's probably Verizon's own changes that cause issues.
Now there have been bugs with the phone, but not an unusual amount you would see when a phone with a new OS is releases.
What's different with this phone? Think LTE radio...think LTE radio. I hope I'm wrong.
You have been told incorrect information. You can return a activated phone. Search this forum and there are at least 100 posts about it. The rep you were talking to was clueless.
I'll be picking my Nexus up in Kingston. :D ..............if it ever comes out.
Also getting LTE in dinky towns like Staatsburgh and Rhinebeck. I wasn't expecting that until after 2013.
Steven's gonna have a ball reading all this, I imagine. I'm shocked I haven't yet seen 30 posts begging him to ask his source yet (unless he's been PM'ed). Let's just not even bother since we know he looks out for us already and will likely either 1) do so on his own or 2) wait to see if more facts emerge and this dies down first. Back away from the edge of the cliff, people. The monsters are not, in fact, due on Maple Street, so let's not start running around with pitchforks, torches, and shotguns.
I'm sorry but I don't buy the "bugs" thing. Every single smart phone Verizon has ever released has had bugs. Han, I'm sure your sister is telling the truth, but the higher ups are a bunch of liars.
Something else is going on here. Maybe Razr/Rezound/iP4S sales are not meeting their expectations and they need to unload inventory before bringing out another "flagship".
Maybe they're trying to spread the high end phones out because of a lack of new devices for Q1.
Maybe there's an issue with the LTE network.
Who knows, but it's not because of "bugs" specific to this device.
Lol @ everyone was all happy and celebrating yesterday..now doldrums.
the funniest was the store meet up threads. people better pack some lunch, might be there a few days past the 8th/9th.
sure i'm still hoping for the 8th/9th..and any leaks from any sources isn't going to change anything. the only official confirmation we get will be from vzw. It Was Almost There yesterday. waiting, just waiting.
The "usb cable" bug is ridiculous reporting. Plug any android phone into a non-oem charger and watch what happens. My Droid and Thunderbolt screens both did the exact same thing shown in the GNex video when plugged into my car charger. This is not a defect, or a fault of the phone, just don't use cheap chargers. There, problem solved.
:confused:
This sort of thing has never happened with the iPhone...Apple says it is being released on whatever date and it is released on THAT date.
