can you tell me the downside to going with a non corporate store?

I have always went to a non corporate store. The people that work at the corporate stores here are very rude and think they are better than everyone. I have friends that work at the store I go to so I prefer the non corporate.

Just got text from my rep at corporate store...

rep: Well Verizon has postponed the nexus launch with no ETA.

me: crap...was afraid of that...so it is for sure????

rep: For sure postponed. :(

me: ok...do you guys actually have stock now???

rep: Yup

me: cool, it sounds like they just need to get an OTA update their satisfied with, huh.

rep: more than likely.

What bites even more is that if this doesn't happen, it seems to me, I would have had the phone in my hands just after midnight tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^&%&#%$#**&**^^ :(

Come on Verizon & Google software dudes... GET URRRRR DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about the ota that is waiting once the phones get activated?Galaxy Nexus Roundup: Android OS Update on First Day, Extended Battery with NFC, and One More Spec List – Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

and if they are selling other 4g devices using the outage as a reason to delay it is BS if you can sell 1 lte device you can sell them all.

It's only a "debacle" from the perspective of the the people addicted to this thread.

From the perspective of the rest of the free world, not so much...........

I'd call it a debacle when the phone has arrived at stores and with other carriers, but their is still no launch date...pretty sure that does not satisfy sponsors of the project.

did anybody bother to convert the new date? i forgot what the format is, what site we used to convert it

I didn't see a VZW press release stating the 9th. "Leaked" documents don't count...at all...as informing the public.

Who said anything about "Leaked" documents. I stood there while a representative looked at the system and said "Yes, I see in our system that we have an official launch date of the ninth." I saw the same screen, so did thousand of people and reps yesterday. You should my post more carefully.

A TB dev had and interview with vzw corporate and they told him it was now scheduled for release on Dec 22nd. "Objection your Honor. Here say." "Objection sustained! Sit down counselor."

Ugh. My desire for this phone is waning.

That's exactly what this kind of things does to you. Having owned the Rezound, I know there's already great hardware out there and it too will soon have ICS. That total package may well turn out to be better than the GNex.

I guess kudos are due to the geniuses who predicted a 2012 release. lol, lol, lol --------> drifting into tears of anguish--------> back to lol

It all boils down to the rep you get at any particular time. All cell phone companies suck.

I was actually referring to corporate policies more than customer service, though I have to say I've been happy with the politeness and helpfulness of both.

Verizon has been installing their own customized phone operating systems and locking EVERYTHING down since before smartphones were even common, and loading excessive bloatware on devices. They ban tethering and then charge extra for it, have extremely expensive prices for what you get on their plans, etc. But, if they have coverage at my new house and T-Mobile doesn't, I may still have to switch.

One nice thing for the lucky ones. (I probably won't be one)

Is I can totally see some CSR "forgetting" about the delay, or just plain ignoring it and selling phones on Friday.

The follow is only my opinion/analysis of available info.

1. It sounds like there are significant LTE Network stability issues.

2. I "think" this the most likely reason for the delay

3. Phones HAVE been shipped and in some cases arrived at stores.

4. 12/9 WAS OFFICIALLY announced to internal employees and retailers

and here where it gets interesting :)

5. I'm willing to bet phones WILL be sold on Friday. Maybe not a lot be some CSR or re-seller will forget / wouldn't have heard / have a "friend that wants one etc."

this goes even more so for re-sellers that have promised phones to people. They'll just say it was a mistake because of last minute change in plans...

How is a delay a delay when there wasnt an announcement?
The lack of a publicly announced launch date does not mean that there is no planned date. Because a great deal of internal planning and execution must precede a product launch, there are internal dates before publicly announced dates. If that internal date has to be pushed out due to technical issues, supply issues, etc., that is a delay. The lack of a prior public announcement does not make it any less of a delay.

If your talking about "abbey" turned out "he/she" was telling a little white lie :P

Folks should keep that in mind, we are dealing in general with salespeople. I don't think I've EVER met a completely honest one. (feel free to use any variation of your favorite lawyer joke)

No, that wasn't it. Not a sales person.

Well my hopes are this, 9th was the date as of yesterday going off of the equipment guide from VZW. so the way i see it, VZW has a day and a half to resolve whatever issues have come up, which is a lot of time when it comes to a multi billion dollar company (whether this be VZW, SAMSUNG, GOOGLE that have an issue that is holding the launch) so honestly the 9th is still extremely attainable especially since shipments have gone out.

If shipments hadn't gone out at this point and there was an issue that was to get resolved by the 9th, then the shipments would still have to go out and probably wouldn't arrive until Monday or Tuesday. but at this point the issue could be resolved and VZW could start selling immediately.

TL;DR The 9th still gives plenty of time for issues to get resolved and the phone to be sold on the 9th.

sounds feasible, except I would imagine that software modifications would call for further testing before being pushed out to the devices.

Dec 12th. He doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, don't listen to him. Pyde is the only one who has called next week the entire time, he's got a ton more cred than P3 at this point.

I'm assuming there's at least a few people here that have 4G/LTE phones right? Can you confirm or deny the LTE problems in your area? Could engadget/droid-life/phandroid/someone start a poll to see how many people might be affected so we can get an idea of how widespread the issue is?

In the NY area it definitely has been wonky over the last couple of days.

wait a stinging minute
Doesn't the Droid 4 release tomorrow too? Its LTE correct? If so....lte outages can be ruled out as the reason if the D4 is coming out.

Sorry if someone ninja'd me on this.

Was thinking this.. they want to help the D4 sales so they push back the Gnex... first Razr'd then D4'd... blast

Ugh.

Text from my sister.

It's so ugly I have to hide it.

Sorry bro. Looks delayed. Don't know how long. Go for a run or something.

This sucks. Now they'll tell us Q1 or some BS like that, just wait.:mad::mad:

Does your sister have any ideas as to why?
