I must respectfully disagree. It's not like the phone is useless. It's not 4G or nothing. It'd be like buying a gorgeous HD tv, but the cable guy calls and says he has to cancel until Monday. But in the meantime you can use the HD antenna that came with your set.

Better than nothing.
Exactly. Example: Look at all the store locations not operating in 4G locations. And do they sell 4G phones? You bet your arse they do.

@HanSolo,

At the rate we're going, the serial killer is going to take victim #3 an entire month later...Man I wanted you to be right.......

Steven: Can you do me a favor?
VZW: Sure, what?
Steven: Well, to tell you the truth, I'm the mod and OP of that famous Gnex thread on AF? Right?
VZW: Oh! Oh! Ok.. Wow. I read your stuff. Nice to meet you. I'm honored to meet you! :)
Steven: Yeah, right, whatever, kid.
VZW: (nervous laugh)
Steven: Listen, you need to me a favor.
VZW: Sure, Mr.58. Anything.
Steven: I have this mega thread on Android Forums, right?
Vzw: Um Hm.
Steven: I need you to delay or make a bogus rumor about there being a delay to up my thread post count, so no one can break my record. Can you do that?
VZW: Yessir, right away sir.
Steven: Thanks, kid.

You understand if this happens, we're taking the thread from you.

Just so we're clear. :p

I had an interesting afternoon. My daughter needed a new car battery, so off to Costco we went. Of course, what's a trip to the big C without a little visit to the phone kiosk? So we walk up to the gal, and she's holding a a brand new phone, with a freshly opened box on the counter. Before I could blurt it out, my daughter says "What phone is that?" She replies "a Galaxy Prime!" Momentarily stunned, I quickly recovered with "Can I see it?" She says sure, and hands it to me. I asked her a question about it, and she told me she literally just got it 30 seconds ago. We asked her if it would be available Friday, and she said she thought so. Nothing ground-breaking here, but it was nice to get a feel for the size of the thing and how solid it was. Alas, it was a dummy phone, so we couldn't play with it, but we got to hold it!

After we got home and installed the new car battery, we decided to take a trip to the friendly VZW store, mainly to ask questions about discounts and such, but also to see if the Sales Consultant would be forthcoming with any info. When I said I was interested in the SGN, his face kind of lit up. "That's an awesome phone" he offered, but that ended the info spill right there. After some playful banter about "what if a phone just happened to be laying on the counter" he laughed and said, "yeah, but it's not supposed to be. I could get fired for releasing any info." I told him I understood and figured that was that.

But then, to my amazement, he said "hang on a sec", so we waited as he talked to his manager, disappeared into the back room, and emerged with the holy grail. It was really funny, first how we caught the Costco gal at the exact right moment, and then caught the V guy at a time when he was feeling generous.

So, long story short (too late?) we got to play with the thing, get a feel for the beauty of the display, the speed of the shutter, the accuracy of the keyboard. This thing is definitely worth the wait. And to top it off, I think my daughter is now leaning towards this phone instead of the 4S. My gosh, the 4S just looks like an ancient brick next to the Nexus.

I know a lot of people out there are upset about this, but I'm in a good place. I put a new rom on my OG Droid, and it will get me by until this thing is released. Hopefully, very soon...I can't imagine them sitting on stock for very long.

Peace.

what a lot of people seem to fail to realize is what releasing a phone in which one of its MAJOR features isnt working properly, and 4g LTE is a big deal on this phone. do you know how many people(regular joes not tech forum folks) would simply walk away from it if they said "yea, well, its supposed to be 4g lte but its broken right now" or how bad that would look on verizon as a company. and with the extra attention this phone in particular is getting, it would only be magnified to be worse. not to mention the inevitable morons who, even if they bought knowing 4g was down, would start blowing up their tech support lines and clog them up . theres a lot more to this than some of us want to realize

I talked about it earlier but an update.

My rezound is still on 3g since yesterday afternoon. My wifes rezound has been on 4g. About 30 mins ago she's asking for router password. I asked why and she said she dropped to 1X.

I live in probably one of the strongest 4G areas with Baltimore MD and Washington DC towers overlapping where i live.

So people need to realize its something serious with their network.

So my mobile data doesn't work at all, except 1x. If I try to turn mobile data on, it just sits there. Something bad is wrong.

On the Thunderbolt?

I've been reading that in the Rezound thread.

SVDO radio ops kick in and your 3G goes down to 1x while the same radio supports simultaneous voice - typical SVDO.

That's how I got on to the whole Verizon LTE thing yesterday.

Thunderbolt is SVDO.

But didn't they sell the Bionic, which had widespread issues switching from 3G to 4G, and all they said was "Eh, we'll get to you in November."

Didn't seem to hurt their profit line at all.

They don't care that much, to not sell you a phone if they think you'll be dissatisfied. They'll sell it to you anyway. Something else is up, and I doubt we'll ever know what it really was.

I had class this morning and had fine 4G here at Towson University, go home for lunch (few miles north, no 4g coverage), come back for an afternoon class and I'm stuck on 1x.

Hell, maybe we're about to be attacked by invading aliens and they're knocking out our communications.

At least sell us the damn phone, Verizon, so we can take super fast pictures of the space ships.

I thought verizon was the alien overlords? We were invaded by more? Geez is earth on an interstellar interchange or something? ;)

Except 3G isn't working right right now either. A few of my friends with iPhones have confirmed not having service most of the day up in the northeast.

Then there is yet another issue or the problem is getting worse, because VZW, Droid Life, Twitter accts, and Me will confirm 3G works for at least some folks. It is possible that the problem is worsening... anyone contact The United States Defense Dept or US-CERT yet? China has been actin' awful fishing lately... ;)
