so can anyone tell me what is to stop radio shack or BB or costco for just selling the thing even if verizon says no? I mean they have it sitting there on the stockroom floor....

Yeah I didn't take it personally. Plus, I was only relaying information I was given and being my optimistic self. Seems like people on Reddit don't like my sense of hope and promise.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. I've been on Reddit too and the sub-reddits I've visited seem like there are some really negative people on that site!

Okay so I need to tend to the girlfriend as she is not feeling well.

I am back in full posting capacity so I will see you all bright and early tomorrow morning hoping for some PR from Big Read about a Friday release.

Fingers crossed. Good night my felling Nexicans!

Goodnight...hope your girlfriend feels better

Yes. It is called a street date/embargo. They could get fined (quite heavily sometimes) if they break said date/embargo.

Calculus, Physics and EE finals await me next week. Verizon, please give me something to play with during my down time!

So you are going to leave to go to a carrier with a worse network because the phone may be pushed back a few days? That is stupid IMO. Never pick a carrier based on a phone since no matter how good the phone is, if the network is awful the phone is useless.

i agree mostly with this... but i honestly have a hard time claiming that vzw has the best network with the LTE outages. i wonder what it's been like since they've launched. but with the network handoffs being unreliable and frequent outages... vzw may claim to have the largest and fastest growing LTE network, but it's hardly the best or most reliable as they've been able to claim with 3G.

If they aren't in vzw's system and are locked esn wise no matter who has the phones until verizon unlocks the esn the phones will not be able to be activated.

So after talking to my rep at the corporate store and the guy who has sold me 2 phones early in the past at an authorized retailer I kind of gave up today..

But.. with all of the talk of people still getting info I called the other authorized retailer who has a rep I visited on Sunday and luckily he was there. (AZ time, they close at 9 so I just caught him)

He said I can either come in Friday or come in tomorrow and he will pre-order it through VZW and it will ship to the store.. Now how in the heck would he know that for sure if he called customer service for me, tomorrow, that I could get it done. Seems like VZW, with all of their cracking down on leaks and threatening people's jobs has gotten through but I just think its to much of a coincidence that..

1. Meeting in the morning at all corporate stores
2. Employees are taking Galaxy's home (that means they are getting familiar with the phone so they can show clients the features and is a regular practice)
3. Stores have stock
4. Stores have accessories
5. Rep's are telling people and hinting at Friday
6. We've heard the soft launch ideas (including the poster on reddit who claimed this long before our "delay" today and was the 1st time I heard the idea)
7. People are walking into corporate stores and letting customers see and hold the device

I could probably keep going but im just trying to go off of factual events and information people are posting. It really does seem like, with Verizon's silence and all the things pointing to an end of the week "silent" release that we just might be able to walk in on Friday and buy it without a big press release or anything. Or maybe the morning of we see an official announcement on the site but people were even saying a couple weeks ago that there would be no preorder and no advertising really.

It looks like Verizon is doing just what they wanted to accomplish and have a "soft launch". Just my 2 cents and really trying to put together all the information I have gathered from this thread and other sites throughout the past couple weeks.

I've been saying this all day. ^+1000. Took Friday off from work to get to know my new Nexus.

To prepare for my Dinc which was my first smartphone I sorted all of my contacts, imported them into Gmail, and put photos with them. To prepare for my Nexus I've uploaded all of my music to Google music. 18,000+ songs for my listening pleasure on ,my screaming fast 4G Galaxy Nexus on Friday.

Will the big red do this to us again tonight?

from what i've read... they may be able to sell it but until VZW directly enables them to activate it, you're left with a dud phone. and it appeasr they get hit with a heavy penalty.

trying to find the article...

Clearly it isn't but right now it is the largest and they are working to update the towers so this does not happen. What is to say the same won't happen with at&t since they just started their lte network? Every network has outages that still does not change the fact that if you cannot use your phone no matter what phone it is because the network is dropping calls all the time the phone is useless. At least verizon still has their cdma for coverage pretty much everywhere if their lte goes down.

If a 'soft launch' does happen, what are the odds of the CSR's who have taken our numbers letting us know? I'd like to think they would give us a heads up over the randoms that walk in since we've been the ones pestering them.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I need my Nexus
Verizon shame on you

Hey guys, i've been lurking here for the last month and a half. Great thread, guys!
Just wanted to share some info, went to costco today and saw a dummy Nexus on display. Talked with the guy, asked when it's coming out, he said friday and was quite sure of it.
Also price is 289. The costco package includes, if i remember correctly, all the standard crap and a screen protector.

Please don't scream at me if this info is already known :)

I can confirm that this is exactly what my Costco rep told me earlier today. I would have put it in my earlier post but in my dotage, I am positively losing it.

Besides what others have mentioned, would you want to risk your job to make a bunch of anonymous internet posters happy?
