***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I am prone to ramble and post at the same time. So, here i go again.

Why would anyone buy an iphone? It works,it works well. I prefer android, personally, but i do waste a lot of time "messing" wth it. But, the only reason i could possibly choose iphone this cycle is on principle. The principle being that apple told verizon to shove off. Originally when att had exclusive as a result, and again when vzw capitulated and iphone is now on verizon without bloat and less vzw control. Apple deserves credit for sticking to their guns in the face of big red vzw. Now, i stilll maintain my derision for apple from the 80's. But, i could be persuaded to take one for the team and reward iphone for standing up to vzw.

Razr. I like moto. Always had good performance and reliability from moto. I am "one foot on" the gnex bandwagon, waiiting to see if sammy's radio and gps are better than previous phones. If razr had a removable battery, i might already bee there. I could live with the razr for 20 months. But, that would also be a reward to vzw for their crappy business practices as is common knowledge.

ReZound? Looks lke a good phone. Same issues as razr.

So, i am just pointing out that there are ligitimate reasons for some people to choose iphone. Either holding their nose or not.

There is certainly a lot of nose holding going on for other reasons, too.

So here's my story -

Went into a Radioshack and went right to the counter and said "Do you have any Galaxy Nexus's? He tells me "I should let me go check". At this point I was flipping out. He comes back and goes "Yeah, I have one left" and brings out a Galaxy SII.

Ugh.

That is heartbreaking. Thanks for sharing - I don't know how gracefully I would have handled the point where they took the Nexus back out of your hands. :(

You know, if I didn't know the girl selling it to me (kinda in a non-extended family sort of way) I may have been a little more firm with how I handled it.

So anyways, back from my little lunch trip. I stopped by my Verizon store, and while I was waiting for a rep, I checked out the Rezound. Not bad, the screen looked beautiful of course. Then the rep came by, I told him I was interested in the Galaxy Nexus. No deer between the headlight looks, no clamming up, just sorry, it was supposed to release today, but got pushed back. I asked to take a look, and he said let me check in the back for one, and came back out. Man is it a sexy phone. The Rezound has nothing on it IMO from a feel standpoint, and the screen is gorgeous. and its so thin. Anyways, he said he didn't know a date, so I told him the forum I am on is thinking the 15th, and he smiled and nodded and said yeah I can't give out dates yet, but you should probably plan on stopping by on whatever day you think it is... haha.

And of course, I get back and see I missed a ton of news and excitement, and then dismay. Sorry OTD and Cincy! So close.

Was this at the Boro store? Im originally from Statesboro, my parents still live there. In Jackson, Wy where I live now we dont have a Corp store, just a "Premium Retailer".

Verizon can try to mislead the public all they want but the public can't be defeated.

Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

So the corporate decision not to release HAS to be due to Wallet. Verizon knows they can't legally block it, AND Google controls the OTAs AFAIK. So whenever Google decides enough is enough, Verizon can't do anything about it (other than brick every phone on the network). THe press release Verizon put out said they were still in negotiations... I think Verizon is still trying to get a revenue sharing agreement out of Google for Wallet, and they are holding the release until they get something (Because in reality, the release is the ONLY leverage they have, once its out, its Google's). JMHO.

I do not care much for the 12/15 rumor.
I will be hoping for a VZW PR today and a release on 12/12.:)

^^^^^Are there any Cheer leaders that can help with this rally?:p

Quick question and no sarcasm intended, strictly ignorance...

Does Verizon make it a habit of having more than once PR in one day? I only ask cause I was SO bummed this morning when someone posted that there was a PR today and no mention of the SGN. Thanks.

Yea, I had planned to return the Rezound today no matter what. I didn't want to get too attached to it. So when I went in this morning to Best Buy I explained that I wanted to return the phone and see about the Nexus. The manager came over and pulled out a box that literally had my name written on it in Sharpie. He pulled out the phone and let me look at it. Then he started asking me for information. I asked if he was allowed to sell it and he said, "I don't really care either way." I made it quite clear that I wasn't looking to get anyone in trouble over a phone and he replied, "There is no chance that I could get fired over something like this, so let's do it." Right after that, I posted.

The funny thing about all this tragedy is that he actually had to call Verizon because my account wasn't completely reset from the Rezound return. He gave them all the info for my account as well as every bit of information on the box of the phone and the Verizon people didn't say a word about it.

After the phone was activated and I started playing around with it he went to ring me up and that is when we hit the snag. The one thing that put a stop to everything was the phone not being in their system. Since it wasn't there they couldn't go any further. I had to give the phone back and they reset it and reactivated my Fascinate.

I will say this though, if nothing else this has made me realize how much I really want this phone. Maybe it is because this one was actually supposed to be mine, but I swear it was twice as beautiful as the demo I had handled earlier. I will have my Nexus!

The down side of technology  :( :D

You should have had them look for the Nexus Prime instead!

Ugh.

I'd settle for that if it worked on Verizon. Who would have thought this late into the year, we would still have nothing resembling a galaxy 2s but better, as Verizon unofficially promised customers.

Can we please do something together as a group? We are not representing Android Forums, but consumers who are displeased about Verizon handling the phone. Can we all band together and send 'tactful' emails to not only Verizon, but Google and Samsung, too? Put pressure on all three sides. This is ridiculous.

For some of you to be able to take the phone out of the store and have to bring it back, to activating it in the store, to some saying, "We don't know when this will be coming out," has got me livid. Now I know I've been saying, "Verizon has never officially released anything," but the fact that the phones are sitting in the stores ready to go with no pending hardware/ software issues, there is NO reason for Verizon to be doing this. We were THAT close to seeing it today, and all of a sudden, WHAM, delayed.

If I could, I'd piss in a cup and send it to the CEO of the company. This has got to be the worst phone release in the history of Android.

So, let's include some emails with the twitter campaign. Doesn't have to be "relese nexis or i's att," but im sure we are all bored enough to email some CEOs and be all "nexs plz."

No I am at work, so was the Pooler, GA store. The Boro just had their corporate store open about a year ago though. Before that was Premium IIRC.

The last time VZW released a PR on the the Gnex was about a month ago at 7:00pm est on a Friday. So who knows for sure.

i don't know. ask Carolyn:

@VZWcarolyn
Greater Chicago area
Executive Director - Public Relations for Verizon Wireless in the Midwest Area; @VZWnews for official company news

Since it sounds like the new date is the 15th, instead of asking Verizon when it's going to release we should focus our efforts on whether it'll have a pre-order. :)

soooo, i've got a work trip next week to Charlotte and Raleigh, which i will have no vehicle and will be pretty busy those days. I fly back to Tampa on the 15th around 9pm. No chance I'm getting it the 15th unless there's a store in Downtown Raleigh, I could walk to at lunch. What are the chances one will be available on the 16th if they go on sale the 15th.....

Yeah the new store is nice. Im home a couple times a year and always for one reason or another stop in a browse a bit...I guess some folks browse car dealerships, and I browse cell phone stores. Go figure:)
