Dang, "VCast Media Manager" cable... I know it means nothing besides the annoying sticker, but it's just another thing that should be untouched by Verizon :/

I will be cutting that sticker off when/if I ever get mine.

going by what i have read from various forums, twitter, fb and the like, my personal opinion is that the delay is because not everyone got their stock in time for release. i know it seems so simple that it couldnt possibly be right to many of us, but sometimes the best answer is the simplest. many reports of stores NOT having them in, some only have 1-3 while others having 30+. P3 said a while back(when he first started saying 12/9 which turned out to be correct) that they would be in port on 11/29-11/30, so with that being 10 days ago, i could see them not having gotten all of their stock out to all of their direct and indirect retailers by now

I don't really believe that is the reason. I think stores are just saying that so those of us who are calling will shut up and stop asking questions.

Just got back from a retail center that had costco, radio shack, verizon, and best buy all in the same location. Went into all the stores and all said it'll be available next week without a specific date, but only costco had the dummy device for me to hold and feel.

This is EXACTLY what was told to my buddy that is a Verizon reseller on Wednesday from one of the Verizon higher ups. He said that it had nothing to do with the LTE issues and everything to do with some software bug. Posted this awhile back.

Just because your buddy was told that, doesn't make it true. Seriously, if someone were to think about this logically, there is no way that a software bug preventing the Nexus from making calls has slipped to this point. Who really expects us to believe that with all of this "rigorous testing" Verizon has been putting this phone through, that nobody tried to make a call with it till Wednesday night. That's ludicrous to even consider as a possibility IMO.

That's not to say there isn't a software bug, but it sure as hell isn't that the phone won't make calls. Someone mentioned a bridge for sale somewhere a few pages back, for anyone that believes that tall one.

It doesn't make sense they would push back the release for that though, unless they could not get stock to all their corporate stores. If that is the case than that makes sense but if it was due to 3rd party retailers not getting stock that would give verizon a chance to sell more since the others won't have stock.

I would agree with this if I didn't have first hand experience with a "I Plead 5th" response on a stock question after claim he might be able to sell today if VZW suddenly decided to announce. That was an honest answer. It's very possible there is a lot more stock sitting around than it might seem from informal reports of "we don't have stock" claims when there is an unethical derective to deny existence of stock.

Agree, if that was the bug it would have been found way back and not gotten to stores and then they realize it cannot make calls. pretty sure the testers would be testing that since after all it is a phone. It is funny to see all the so called reasons people say or someone they know are told is cause of the delay.

well i can refute that with a certaintly. a good friend of mine is the manager of a "premium retailer" where vzw phones are sold. earlier this week when stories of the 9th started coming out, i text him and he told me that it was possible but that he hadnt received his stock of them yet. today i text him on the outside chance the he may be willing to sell me one and act like he didnt know of the delay, and he told me they still hadnt received any stock yet, but that he had gotten an email last night notifying him that the shipment was on the way and would be there monday.

OK so my wife caught me playing with it today;) Stepped out with the wife to Radio Shack for some things and I asked if they had the new Verizon phone, the nexus I think? I pretended I wasn't obsessed with the phone and knew every spec already. He says yes we do would you like to see one, I said sure and he went to the back and brought one out. I could not take pics of it but have at it. So a few observations, first it is a lot lighter in color then I expected and it wasn't much bigger then my wifes rezound but wider. It felt great in my hand but I'm a bigger guy my wife complained it was to wide for her but she like how it was lighter then her rezound. Everything else has been said, its fast, screen is beautiful but like Mr Solo I was a little underwhelmed, with that being said I am still buying it as its the best android device I have ever used.

As I mod I know who is too shy to post here much and really spends most of his time lurking has said -

Nice thing about corporate marketing - one memo spawns all of the troops repeating the story.

I would make a reference to the infamous politician that said any lie is believable if repeated often enough but I am going to deny BlueBiker the humor of a mod Godwinning a thread and not even mention it.

So, you never read this, ok?

These are the many of same people who had no idea that it was NOT called the Nexus Prime a few weeks ago and who have also said that it would come out next year in beta, etc etc etc.

But now that they say they have inside info on bugs?

No, I don't think so. I think this instead:

One memo becomes the lie re-told so often.

;)

I will say that in my town, 35k, between the premium retailer and the bestbuy there are only Nine GNexs total...4 at ther retailer and 5 at the BB...now i know it's a small town but only 9...seems a bit low...i've always thought a supply issue could definitely be the reason for the delay and VZW underestimated the demand for this device and i think they're finally realizing it

I am not really thinking they would hold it for 100% stock at all VZW retailers and I am quite sure there is BROAD availability of stock right now, even if not all premium and other 3rd parties have. Many phones lots of retailers don't get it for awhile after release.

With kind permission from OfTheDamned here are a few more photos taken by her anonymous Nexus owner. :)

Thanks
OfTheDamned and BIG THANKS to The Mystery Owner! :)

EDIT - these accompany OTD's post - had I seen it in time, I've had just added them in to yours, Red O! :P

This is by no means a negative, but the GSM version seems to have more of a curve to it. I thought the LTE version would be the same
