***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Only $50 more than the out of contract price of VZW.

I'm not shocked at the price at all. More shocked that you can get it from Amazon already. And if this saga moves past next week, I might even go with the Note. I wish it had a notification light like the GNex (that thing is frickin' sweet) and of course ICS.

I think that's a fair price for the Note. Great looking monster of a phone.

I keep reading here and there about the low volume or weak external speaker.

This was the deal breaker for me with the Dinc2 I tried.

I do not have hearing issues but am spoiled by the OG Droid's very good speaker volume.

Do you guys think it's hardware limited or can it be tweaked with software?

Gosh with a little road noise or the phone in my pocket I want to know I have a chance to hear it ring or the navigation speaking street names and turns.

Will you guys getting your paws on the phones try out some ring tones with it turned all the way up? I know this will be the 1st thing I hit.

Sadly, I don't think there's much you can do with that. I like thin phones too, but not at the expense of poor speakers or weak vibration.

However, for many scenarios where you are in a high noise enviroment, I'd suggest a bluetooth headset.

Although I read about it earlier, I know it's only on 3G and only if the specific tower is congested. I have yet to see any affect of this in the 6 months I've been with them now. So far I am extremely happy with the service. :)

There were some cases of people with lte being throttled but that was rare.

@HanSolo Man, I am only like 20 minutes from that West Dundee store. Why did that guy say they were selling them if when you called they said they couldnt?

The funny thing is only the sprint cdma nexus s has it now yet nobody is up in arms about that?

Right, but I'm guessing Google really wants to make a push with Wallet now and Verizon will not let them. I'm just absolutely furious that a device is being delayed for no other reason than freaking corporate politics. Verizon has gone from nearly releasing the phone to denying it's existence nearly entirely. Does that not frighten anyone?

I just have a hard time seeing how canceling it makes than more profit than selling it. Even if they had to allow GW on the phone, so what? They could incentivize people to use ISIS instead.

But I have no idea how their contracts work. Maybe all that they are out is the cost of shipping and Samsung has to eat the cost of all of the devices. Who knows?

Is nfc even implemented anywhere? I live in a metropolitan area of about 8 million and Ive never seen anywhere that it's in use. I can see verizon just throwing in the towel on this if it doesn't work out. As people have said before, the segment of their customer base who are waiting for the nexus is a tiny fraction. Even if eveyone looking to buy a nexus left verizon, they wouldn't even blink. Guess we can toss all the sunday rumors, nothing is going to get settled on this over the weekend. As far as the unsold phones, I I think they could be returned back to samsung as surplus or some such for refunds by verizon.

Is no one else worried about this whole ISIS/Google Wallet dispute rumor? This has potential to not only cancel the phone entirely, but screw all future Nexus phones on Verizon. Verizon will not be pushed around and would rather cut all ties with Google than be told what to do. I for one am very scared, and no I am not exaggerating or kidding in any way. :(
My own opinion is you are severely overreacting.

Verizon and Google are very tight. You have nothing to worry about.

For what it's worth, which isn't much since everyone has an opinion and yada yada, and if you guys saw my last few posts you already knew this, but I'm not buying the Google Wallet/ISIS excuse. Unless Verizon REALLY wants Google Wallet and Google is denying them, that is the only way it makes any sense, which it makes no sense anyways because Google doesn't want to hold up it's own device any longer. Just another conspiracy theory to get everyone all riled up. I'm agreeing with P3 here....hogwash.

Yeah, I'm not sure I buy the Google Wallet vs. ISIS argument either. If it was that they could push it out as a firmware update via OTA. Why put it off for that? Nah, there's something else cooking. The phone is PRIME (sorry for the bad pun), I had NO issues with it (aside from the low volume).

hey guys, i got to play around with the phone tonight!!! OMG ITS AMAZING!! they couldnt sell it to me but il b first in line wh en they can! 4g wasn't working on the phone, maybe cause of delay???

I see that CSR must be pretty brilliant, running advanced task killer. He sure knows his Android. Classic! :p

Now will you guys believe that Verizon is an evil company who doesn't give a crap about their customers. There is serious potential that the phone could just get canceled entirely.

You know, before this ISIS/Wallet news, I really thought that wasn't even a possibility. But I'm not so sure anymore. If they cancel this phone, I'm done with VZW. I don't care if they have better coverage or LTE, I refuse to do business with a company like this. And before you say "yeah right, you're bluffing", ask my wife how many times I've been to Blockbuster since 2002 when they instituted their 1-day "back before noon" policy and then charged me $30 for a $10 DVD (hint: zero).

This makes me furious.

Oh yeah, and I like pro wrestling. Don't care if it's scripted. But you guys who say it isn't real are wrong in a sense. It is real. The people doing what you say aren't computer generated images. They are real people in a real ring. Now, they are not REALLY kicking the crap out of each other, but they are performing some amazing feats and putting on a great form of entertainment. And to let you all in on a little secret, you have to be a HELL of an athlete to do it. You guys roll your eyes and laugh at us who watch or are entertained because it is "scripted", but how is it any different than being sucked in by a good video game because it has a good story, or a movie because it has great actors and a great plot? I suspend my disbelief when I play a Final Fantasy or Halo or Metal Gear Solid or Uncharted game, even though deep down I KNOW they are just pre-programmed pixels on a screen, because I enjoy it more that way.

I guess I'm just Mr. Controversial today!

Oh yeah, and there is NO EASTER BUNNY! That guy...he's just a guy in suit!

:D

Nice, was that a Mallrats quote? Lol.

I'm assuming this doesn't apply to the earpiece volume and is just an issue with the speakerphone?

Asus has been pretty horrible on launches as well. They couldn't get out of thier own way with their other tablets.

This does remind me a lot of the Asus Transformer release. Lot's of hype, huge thread on XDA anticipating the release. When it finally came out it was like winning the lottery if you were actually able to get your order in with the limited stock that was available. Curse me and my damned unlocked Android addiction.

While a lot of you are complaining about Verizon I thought I might change up the mood here a bit and focus on everything that I like about Verizon:

  • Not AT&T ;)
Feel free to add to the list. :)

Not sure this belongs here because if verizon WAS at&t we'd already have the phone by now... or at least a release date.

75,000 Posts!!!

edit: missed :(

I can't believe that the phone still hasn't been released. Not too long ago, We were all worried we wouldn't surpass the incredible thread by the time it released.

But come on T-Love. We all know that you're a glass half empty guy. You even suspect that Verizon poisoned the water that's left.

It's OK though, we need you to balance out the optimism and keep the thread lively :)
