So, who here hasn't held a mock or running GNEX?

Checked one out today at a VZW store. It felt smaller than it looks in videos. Felt very fast and fluid. Tried the face unlock and it worked the first time (held to manager's face and it didn't unlock). Loved the labs function in the browser.

Went to Costco too and the lady said they won't know what's in the bundle until they get their GNEX shipment. The samsung phones normally don't come with anything special, just the motorolas come with dock, etc. It will most likely have a leather case, screen prot., and car charger. Sorry if this has been beaten to death.
 
I have a little different of a story to tell.

So Bought my wife a HTC Rezound about a month ago. I recently got a TXT message telling me if I didn't activate the phone I was going to be charged $400 dollars :eek:. Of course this was a mistake as you can't walk out of a store without them activating a 4G phone (at least around here). So I called and they fixed my account issue but the girl CSR refused to change my other line's NE2 date as the company can no longer do so(so she said). After the phone call, I wrote an email saying the CSR was awesome for going to the big lengths to fix my account issues but that as a customer I was surprised for the first time I asked to be compensated for one of their many mistakes they told me to pound salt.

The next day I got a call from Texas (one of there headquarters?) and it was a higher rep. She said they were very sorry for the way I was treated and that my 10+ years of business and three lines were appreciated. She would move my NE2 up so I could purchase the Nexus. Only problem was that they pulled the Nexus for internal issues (not phone issues as I asked but this is all I got) and had no internal firm release date. She said she would call me and place an order for me as soon as she got the ok (I can't go to the store and get one so I am stuck with her I guess). I lied and told her that the local corporate branch manager told me it would be released on the 15th and she said "we can only hope so".

So as soon as I get this phone call it will mean its officially happening! It's the closes I can come to inside information.

I had a very similar conversation with Verizon's executive management team. long story short: i bought a droid 2 global last year, my dad took over the account to get a better discount, i returned the D2G and got a droid incredible via third party a few days after that, and up until Friday morning, my account (my fathers in technical terms) still had shown that the "upgrade" date was aug/2012 while the contract date ended at the end of this month (12/29/2011).

she was kind enough to first, offer me an account credit of $50 for all my troubles, of which I won't go into details unless its asked of me, and then she proceeded to reset my contract "end-date" to today 12/09, and also threw the now-deceased New-Every-Two program discount ($30 in my case) onto this account as well. I said that sounds wonderful. I truly am glad to be a verizon wireless customer in the long run.

not to second guess her generosity, but just to see it with my own eyes, i logged out of myverizon.com and then logged back in. low and behold, my account went from "upgrade at full price!" to "upgrade discount available!" in the space of a few short minutes.


the moral of the story is there is so much more to the truth than what the front-line VZW representatives will tell you about upgrade dates and whatnot. I am not saying that its possible to get your upgrade date changed just because you contacted the VZW executive management team, but in the event that VZW has grievously wronged you or in some other way fubar'ed your account, try contacting this executive management team. it will be worth your while :)

I completely cannot stand the lack of mutual respect in the relationship that is a customer and a company. In this situation, it's no secret that the Galaxy Nexus is the phone people are excited for. I don't think it's too hard for Verizon to at least come out and just be straight with us. It won't stop me from buying it. In fact, i'll appreciate the candid approach to me as I'm about to drop 300+ whatever I pay per month just for the 2 year service.

Look, I completely understand business today and mass productivity + max output. I understand management styles and everything. I get the numbers. Heck, it's my daily job from 8:30-5. I just really wish we'd all have some mutual respect. That customers understood good solid businesses and didn't look to sue after every mishap. I want the business to be upfront with the customer and be honorable. Better communication with both parties respecting one another. Instead we get "Look we are on twitter and facebook interacting with our customers!" No you aren't. You are still hiding the same question we've had since November. We have to find leaks and whatever we can to stay on top.

That might be too much to ask nowadays.

I haven't. I haven't had a chance with work! :/
 
My town is on the map too with 35K...but i'm from houston which the population is 6.3million...there is a difference in the way ppl handle things...most folk here think i'm paranoid when i lock my car when i go into the gas station to just buy a drink...just saying big city ppl are a lot less trustworthy than small town folks...i've gotten full disclosure where i'm at...if i went back to houston i KNOW they wouldn't be so forthcoming!!! IMO

Yep i'm in Houston and agree with everything you just said.(I have gotten 0 info from the stores around my house)

I know right. It seems to be their new line they were fed by the higher ups. It used to just be we have no new info at this time no matter how hard i pushed(except for one rep who knew about this forum, if ur reading this: u were very helpful)
 
Thanks, you were not Ninja'd. I agree that no matter what Verizon will eventually sell the devices that were already made. But I guess for bargaining power, with products like phones that have a relatively small window in which they are "hot," Verizon could turn the screws on Google if Verizon's commitment is smaller than the number Google thinks it can sell. Anyway, here's hoping they work out whatever issues they may be having ASAP because I'm dying for a new phone and the Rezound looks tempting, even though I think I'd end up with buyer's remorse.

I haven't. No one had it when I went asking and now that they do, I doubt they'll let me play
 
With all the reports from tech sites & news sites it would leave me to believe Verizon is a little embarrassed of this whole fiasco, IMHO they wouldn't want to risk anymore bad PR with a new strongly rumoured date out there. I think (for prides sake) they will have to commit to this one.

I don't think they give a [fill in what ever you want here]. They know they will keep their subscribers b/c of grandfathered unlimited data, best LTE network, best coverage,etc.

Anyone else think the "Thanks" button should be changed to a "Like" button? It seems weird to thank some posts when you merely agree with them or find them funny. Just a thought :)

I think there should be a like button in addition. Some instructive posts a thanks is more appropriate.

from what i've seen/heard VZW wants this thing out ASAP...personally i beleive the GW vs ISIS thing was worked out already if it was ever really an issue...IMO the issue has always been connectivity problems as reported for build 4.0.1 and 4.0.2...from what i've heard 4.1 fixes this but i am not sure how long it's been tested and if it's fully ready to go

That would get pretty complicated though; when does one use the Thanks button vs. the Like button?

"Like" is pretty universal, "Thanks" is more specific, like if someone posted some helpful info or a new source.
