***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Ok, Shouldn't we as the consumers have a choice between the two products though? That would seem the most reasonable way to go. Put it out there for us to decide.

In a perfect world yes. But these are big and stubborn corporations that are butting heads in this situation.

Our two sources' leaked information about the google wallet and isis being the conflict keeping the phone back is starting to go viral. :D

You saw it here first, friends. :D

I think what Verizon is trying to do by actually blocking Google Wallet is the problem. They would be ok if they just didn't include it but to block it from what I can tell will probably get them in trouble with antitrust laws. Blocking Google Wallet while allowing ISIS is specifically anti-competetive and would invoke the antitrust laws on top of what rules that the FCC imposed on the spectrum Verizon uses for LTE.

Remember all the stink and trouble Microsoft got into by including Internet Explorer in Windows? They were only skirting the antitrust laws since they didn't block you from installing a competing browser. In my opinion Verizon has gone too far in trying to control what payment app and service we have available on the phone and is probably scrambling now to certify Google Wallet to their satisfaction when they never even bothered to test it before because they were never going to allow it in the first place.

Thing is ISIS may end up being the dominant payment system anyway but that is for the open market to decide not for Verizon to try and force it down our throats.

I've come to the conclusion: The Nexus is NOT a Unicorn!

I went into my local Radioshack and they had a single Gnex! They let me see the box and let me play with it off; I snapped two pics but I won't put them up unless anyone really wants to see them b/c we've alllll seen it before lol! But yeah, he put a post it with my name and cell # on it so when he can sell it it's mine! I can't wait, my faith in this phone is renewed!

Just buy the phone and activate it on any line you want to. It's your call. You can do it over the computer, by calling Verizon. Radio Shack can activate it on a certain line and you can change it. They are your phones to do with whatever you please. I hope this helps! :)

Apparently Verizon doesn't agree with this otherwise there would be no Google Wallet issue.

I have been cruising the RAZR forum just to nose around and see its Dropped to $199.99 out there. Heh , thats not a good reason to hold a release is it?

Also a good thing to lookout for is they report the music app will gobble data and CPU if the as shipped settings are left alone so you folks with limited data may want to keep on the lookout in case they are talking about the same app. POST LINK

Maybe so.

OTOH - maybe Verizon at the last minute said no Google Wallet?

I honestly don't know. I believe little of what I read until everything is corroborated and even then I remain skeptical - but that's just my nature.

I will agree that these big corporations aren't dumb but they do make decisions that seem rather stupid - and that it always takes two to tango.

I blame VZW regardless because if they had rules of the C-Block in mind when doing business they would NOT be keeping this and that off the device and asking that it be locked up in the case of non-google marketed devices through back room deals. I commend google for pushing this issue, even if it is holding it up, as I for ONE would would eventually like to own a device I ACTUALLY OWN and can MODIFY as I please as I do with any other device and still have it work on the service I pay LOTS of money for from VZW.

I personally think VZW needs to understand they are a dumb pipe and any services they want to offer to make an extra buck SHOULD have to go up against the open market of services that can be marketed against them through their dumb pipe you are probably accessing said services through. They want to be able to force their option on us through their control of the pipe though and C-Block rules were setup to try and create more competition among such internet services we might access on the open web and not get force fed the network operators option.

Remember one of our members (anonymous) who walked out of Radio Shack with a Nexus? He took a video and wanted to show you. It's very nice, expect for that wavy distortion that comes in when you shake it. A member linked us to a software that will calm it dow, I recall?

I agree, we don't know who started the 'urinating' match. I was basing that theory of the article about Google saying VZW was violation Class-C or whatever that was............ Who knows, but as you say it takes two to tango.

Good thing ICS has a feature that will show you what's using your data and can set cut-off limits! :D

Although I've got unlimited data so I will be fine.

I'm by no means a camera expert, but it looks more like he is shaking the camera to me, than any kind of problem.

Been more or less lurking for the last couple days grazing over posts just waiting for something official. I've found it hard to really become engaged in this thread lately because of the tone its taken on. It is not my place to judge or stomp in with some self-righteous rant, but I do have two questions to pose (and I'll provide my own thoughts in an answer):

Why are some folks getting worked up over semantics?
These associates have a job to do and at this point in the year it can be a tough job (I've been there, many times over many years). I think many people are genuinely interested and frustrated with the situation. But still, I think others are pushing-- thinking they hold some trump card. Hoping they rant and rave enough to get their way or back an employee in to a corner where the outcome results to their liking, regardless of the real world implications or facts. Some people here are calling out VZW, BB and RS for deceptive and unethical behavior while at the same time trying to lure employees into selling a phone that is explicitly NOT for sale, which could result in drastic consequences for the employee (whether they're aware or not). How is that ethical?

Finally; why do some act as if they are entitled to all these answers, and that VZW OWES us something-- OWES us this phone?
We are getting worked up and angry over something we're not even supposed to know! We have gone behind their backs, solicited private information, put peoples jobs/livelihoods at risk to obtain said information that was NEVER meant for public consumption. And NOW we're mad? NOW we're blasting THEM for unethical behavior?

No, there is nothing wrong with a consumer who wishes to be informed. But lets face this fact: what we know, we were never supposed to know. With out this knowledge, we would never be where we are right now-- calling out employees for saying they don't have stock, (which who knows, maybe their shipments haven't arrived), or denying they have information on the phone even though we've seen screen shots of their systems.

Again, there is nothing wrong with a consumer who wishes to be informed and gathers information. But just remember how we've obtained this information and try and exercise more reasonable judgement when calling for peoples heads. We're all frustrated, but I for one, will continue to wait as patiently as I can... and hope my current phone doesn't kick the bucket before it lands.

Totally agree and remember Verizon is the company actively fighting against net netrality so that they specifically can dictate to us what we can and can't use on their pipe.

I have both. You are going to feel a step back on camera quality going from the 4S to the GNex.

Let me clarify - I don't disagree that the camera might not be as good as some other devices. I don't think it can be classified as a bad camera and, for my purposes, it is 100% fine. I don't use a phone camera as a primary camera, it's just handy to have around in case you want to quickly shoot and send.

I was under the impression that the shutter speed was quick, no?
