I dunno guys. To be honest, I am thinking of waiting on getting one now. Im hearing things about build quality etc again, and it has me a bit concerned. May just bow out of this game and get a Razr.

Ultimately, I want a Nexus, but would prefer one built by Motorola.

You're right. I don't think you pull a launch at the last minute like that over just corporate crap either. I do think however you do pull a launch at the last minute if the problems are corporate legal liability issues. Something like maybe the FCC contacted them stating that they are in violation of the spectrum rules by blocking Google Wallet and if they don't fix it right away they will be hit with penalties.

I think since the release was all set to go that Google had actually agreed to let Google Wallet be blocked just to get the phone released finally but I think the FCC or someone else stepped in to say that wasn't OK and violated the rules. Maybe Google agreed and then filed complaint with the FCC to spur them into action. Who knows but this thing was ready to go and something happened at the last minute that stopped it.

I know, I know, millions all over the world love and cannot live without FB.

If you want to have your business spread out all over the world or easily accessible to those with time and reason, start doing stuff like that on Face Book. I shutter when I hear about contacts of any kind being worked with on FB.

There are so many angles of attack provided on FB it's enumerable.

You guys know what I do and I work with some of the best computer forensics folks in the bizz and We Just Love Face Book! Them selves and all of their family members and friends that trust them will never have a FB account.

Ever notice how when you login the Stay logged box is already checked? That is just one tiny bit of a sign of the mentality of FB.

Do you ever wonder why there is no fee for using FB? Do you think they are operating all those servers at a huge expense so you can FB out of the kindness of their heart?

Guess no one saw my post earlier about Horizontal Leather cases...

Anyone have any recommendations? Horizontal, non-swivel belt clip to fit a Nexus.

I'd love to see the thing go on sale tomorrow. My Steelers already played. I just don't think a Sunday release ever happens.

Best Buy will push it back just like everyone else has.
 
Well I just stopped at a local Radio Shack. They did know that they could not sell the phone. They did not know when they could.
My big question was whether they honored the discounts that Verizon placed on my account.
According to the rep they don't, but other had according to this rep RS would be selling it for $299 and that they are a couple hundred dollars cheaper than corporate stores, that at a corporate store I would be looking at four or five hundred plus mail in rebates for the phone.

Uh-yeah, I don't think so.

I won't be coming back to Radio Shack to by the phone.

The service would be just fine but I work in a building in Chantilly. Tmobile and ATT don't work at all inside. Verizon and Sprint are the way to go but make full use of the 14 day return window to go to as many of the places that you normally frequent to get a good estimate. I have only used tT-mobile's 3g so not a clue about their 4g offerings. Hope this helped :)

BIG help! Thanks SO much. I'm just stuck with with the iPhone right now and have been dying to get the Nexus for so long that I'm actually considering the "sell iphone, buy global nexus, drop Verizon, get T-Mobile or AT&T" route. Crazy? Probably, but then again, aren't we all dying to get our hands on this phone? :-)

In my county (Bergen, NJ) its the law to have any retail store (or any store for that matter besides grocery/food) CLOSED on Sunday's. I also live in a prime location, 15 mins away from NYC, and one of the first places to have 4G. I don't think I've ever seen a Sunday release.

I agree with your assessment. I dont think GW is holding this up. You dont have phones sitting in stockrooms and pull the plug because of last minute arguments over GW. Google and Verizon will settle their differences over GW in time. Just my my $0.02.

sorry, but i haven't used a belt clip since my Star Tac - don't believe in them... hope someone else can help.
 
BTW - I think Phases said that OT stuff was fine outside of hide tags, but that it would be a courtesy to put an OT stuff sort of text marker at the top to help people skip over non-Nexus stuff.

I think we're getting a little slack on a Saturday - but I also think it's best we follow Phases' guidelines.

Agreed Kate. They don't owe us THE PHONE though. I don't think its unreasonable to wish VZW was more forthcoming with information regarding the release. I've long believed that a statement just saying basically; "We are as excited as you are for the SGN yadayadayada. We understand your concern as we continue to finish preparing this phone for launch. Please wait with us as we prepare this incredible phone for launch."

I think that would have appeased many people to some degree. We pay for their data network. We don't pay them to release phones. And I don't think our written contracts are made to guarantee the disclosure of company information. It sucks. We all wish we knew more from VZW, but this is the way it works. Oh the things I could tell you about the airline business- but I can't and wont.

But, yes, this Google Wallet stuff is out of control. Verizon hasn't blocked any non-tethering apps on the Android Market, even things like Google Navigation and Amazon MP3 and such that compete with VZW's own services. Google Wallet is the exception only because there probably is a major security concern and when it is handled it will be reenabled on the Market.

Also, don't go by whatever sales reps (even VZW corp store reps). They know as much as we do - literally. They search the interweb and Android forums/blogs for leaks and give the same reasons for delays and such as we do. Because Phandroid has a huge headline about Google Wallet being the cause of delay, RadioShack, Costco, Best Buy, and even some VZW corp store reps will tell you that Google Wallet is the reason for the delay because they don't know themselves.

The issue is clearly LTE-specific and is hopefully going to be fixed with this new OTA for a Thursday 12/15 release. This is the same issue, unfortunately, with every LTE phone Verizon has released so far and will continue being an issue until the OEMs have finally figured out how best to program the LTE radio firmware for their devices. We may not see a smooth VZW LTE phone launch for a few more months just because the tech is so new for so many manufacturers.

This is exactly right, Verizon wouldn't have spent the time and financial resources to get to this point with this phone if there were ANY lingering legal issues with Google OR Samsung for that matter. The LTE issue really spooked them and they DID NOT want to launch a VERY high visibility phone on their network when it was sputtering only to cause a backlash of epic proportions. Therefore they pulled back and decided to get the LTE network fixed and stable for a few days so they would have confidence that the phone would be able to perform as advertised. This is the most logical and sensible explanation given the factors that we know.

Holy monkey O_o And I thought my city was coming out of the dark ages when we finally started allowing alcohol sales on Sundays! No shopping at ALL on Sunday? I don't even know what to say to that!

A Motorola Nexus device would be awesome in my opinion. I love their build quality and their radios are just great.

i'm not there yet. BUT, if this thing gets delayed until after xmas, or even into early Jan, i am definitely going to wait and see what offerings come out of CES (which is Jan 9, i believe) before buying.
 
Yup, thats the reaction I usually get. The surprising thing is that I'm not too far from NYC- so its not like I'm in some bumble_ _ _ _ ghost town lol. No shopping at all, unless you want some milk/groceries!

And yet, they launched the xyBoard LTE tablet with no such concerns during this same time -

I just don't believe that anything about this is being done for our good or to protect the wonderfulness image of the Nexus or reduce customer complaints.

Ive thought of that as well, but need a better phone sooner than later. I really hope/wish that Moto builds the next Nexus. Sammy has had the last two, time for a change imho.

Im sure its going to be a great phone, but build quality and radio are not as good as the Nexus. This coming to me from folks who have both. Its a serious consideration for me now to just get a Razr. Will let you all know.
