I managed to have a guy CSR note on my account that I was eligible for the 100$ discount. Another member here posted that he had his account credited 100$ since he upgraded his wife's line. Hes in Iowa (Midwest), im in NC.

Since I was already lucky enough to sneak by a CSR and have them note it on my account that I was eligible I figured it would be a piece of cake to get my already upgraded Rezound credited.

I spent maybe 20 mins talking with the woman on the phone saying she saw the promotions but they were for people in the "Midwest". So I tried by saying well my main account was already eligible and noted.

She wants me to fax her the promotion I got in the mail showing how much. Since shes seeing two different promotions.

Would it be wrong of me to photoshop? lol http://cdn.droid-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/01.jpg

Hugely wrong.

Honesty is the best policy. Faking stuff like this may catch up to you, the charges will come back and you could lose someone their job.

Moreover -

I've been watching these promo deal talks go down all day.

At first I (and other mods) were concerned, but then it quickly appeared that there was honest confusion at VZW and we've stood back, to let community help community.

HOWEVER - openly working to defraud a carrier is not something that we can allow at AndroidForums.com.

If things continue along that line, we'll have to constrain matters severely.

So, please - Honesty is the best policy.

Cheers, thank you.

My attempt at an answer with an online CSR...
Tom: Yeah, I see that some people are receiving a flyer that has to do with a $100 off promotion if you upgrade your 3g smartphone to a 4g smartphone..I have been a customer with Verizon for 8 years and didn't receive this flyer, but I do have the information about the promotion. I was told it is in the doorways system, and the promo code is CH4GE
Tom: I believe it is actually called "3g to 4g smartphone promo"
Matt: I'll check on that right now.
Tom: Thank you.
Matt: My pleasure!
Matt: Thanks for your patience. That promotion is offered to select customers, based on certain eligibility criteria. If you qualify, you'll receive notice.
Tom: Could you tell me the eligibility criteria? Is it for corporate accounts only or something?
Matt: I don't have any information on that, which is why offers like these are only marketed to customers who are targeted by the offer, to avoid confusion.
Matt: I'd also recommend calling our customer care department at 800-922-0204, as they may be able to help you with current promotions.

Then I tried the STDNE2 promo and he shot that down as well...

Add me to the list of success stories!! :D It finally worked once I followed these instructions. Note to everyone that has been rejected so far: The first few times that I called, I was told that the promotion only would work if I purchased the Thunderbolt, Revolution, Bionic, Charge, or Breakout. However, the CSR tried a mock order with the RAZR and it still worked! So please let whoever you speak to know, if they try to tell you this, that the promotion will still work with a phone besides those five.

Now, I was unable to convince the rep to let me get another $100 off with the CH4GE mailer code. She seemed to think that it was the same thing as the 3G to 4G promo; however, as we have noticed, the wording on the mailer is very open-ended and does not include any language that restricts it or otherwise notes that it cannot be combined with other offers. When I pointed this out to the CSR, she made a new claim that she was unable to look up the mailer without a barcode, which I recognize was probably bullcrap, but she agreed that I should still bring the mailer in with me to the corporate store when I purchase a new phone, which I fully intend to do. If I can get $200 off this phone, I will be a very happy man indeed. :D

"Whose house?? Run's house!! I said whose house?? RUN'S HOUSE!!" :D

So they applied it to your account somehow? I have called twice and both reps seemed to think I should qualify, but both said there is no way they can instate it to my account or anything and that I would just have to ask for it when purchasing my phone and probably could NOT get it with an online sale like my NE2 that just shows up as $50 off any phone I add to my cart.

bad news guys, csr said i wasn't eligable for the promotion cuz my phone wasn't technically a 3g SMARTPHONE.

and more important news.

when i asked him about the possible release for the 15th, he said that they would have gotten email notification by now and he had no info making the release on the 15th highly unlikely. kinda a bummer, but im not surprissed.

I am almost 99.9% positive Verizon released an email notifying every person, from corporate down the janitor, that no one is speak a word of the Galaxy Nexus. No hints of having it in stock, no dummy models, and when asked when it will be released to make it vague. There are some reps following this and some who are not. Just today, someone had 3 reps read to them the email corporate sent about the phone releasing on the 15th.

As someone said earlier, Verizon was made a fool last week due to several highly-confidential internal leaks when there was no promise of the 9th coming from the horse's mouth. In order to prevent that, I assume a, "Cease or be fired," email made its rounds promptly after corporate caught word of said leaks.

I doubt every date until Verizon puts the phone on their site. Until then, none of these dates matter one bit. One of these days I will be pleasantly surprised, but until then I don't expect to see the phone anytime soon. We are supposedly a little over 2 days out from one of the biggest Android releases the US has ever seen and we've not heard one thing from Verizon about it, forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical.

Like I said, this Verizon Company store manager who I've been dealing with for a couple of years(my company has a business account with numerous lines) told me today it is definitely this Thursday and that the hold up was because of the 4g network problem, not Google wallet.

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO TELL THE CSR

search "3g to 4g smartphone promo" in the "doorways" system.
This is how the rep said he found it. I talked to 2 other CSRs in the past who had no idea what I was talking about. Below is a screenshot of the text the rep sent to me. From what he told me, this seems to be something they are running for most everyone. Also I was told that it expires on the 31st, not the 25th

This works!

And I'm in NY. (Which isn't really very close to the midwest :p )

Just got it notated to my account, and she said it should be no problem getting the discount at the corporate store!

Come on Thursday!!

So... those of you making multiple calls... do you think Verizon CSRs add a note to your account every time you call? Like, your 5th call, the guy/girl answers, pulls up your file, and sees a note from your other 4 calls for the day?

Just curious, seems like they would keep a record, if for nothing else than to make sure that they have some info on the call without having to pull up a recording or something.

Is anyone else having trouble with VerizonWireless.com? When I try to sign in to check my account bill it keeps timing out and I get a "webpage cannot be displayed error in my browser".

Ok I tried an on line chat with a CSR no luck with the $100 credit but, I did get a confirmed price (upgrade) of $299 with out any discounts. This is a first for me apparently the phone is showing up in there system now.... I asked about a preorder and got the regular no information available but the price confirmation is something.

Maybe it means there will be a midnight pre-order if they are seeing a price in there system!

Well looks like I'm staying up till midnight........

We should change the name of this thread to the 3g to 4g promo thread, cause thats all anybody is talking about!

I don't even want to think about upgrading costs at this point, because I have no confidence the nexus is going to be released anytime soon. It jinxes things more if you ask me.

That would be AWESOME. But like I said, until it's official, it's not official.

Oh boy I'm on hold. She says its only chicago. What do I do???

Move to Chicago?

It's a great City, I could live there. Probably not worth $100, but, wouldn't be a bad place to live.

EDIT: Sorry, way too sarcastic. I just saw that was your first post. Welcome aboard, sorry for the harsh response, I've gotten too comfortable here. Some are having luck with the deal outside of chicago, but, its taking multiple calls...

From NY: just called and said I wanted to add the 3g to 4g promo code to the notes on my main line for when I upgrade to the g nexus. He asked for any other info on the flier and I just said the CH4GE is the code. He said its noted on the account.

He didn't check anything, just added the note.

Edit: few have actually gotten the discount so I'm preparing for the case that the *note* doesn't actually work...

I GOT IT!!! He may have been the coolest CSR I've ever dealt with! Verizon is actually winning me back today...DAMN THEM!!

$150 off my Nexus! Maybe even $180 if they honor that loyalty ON TOP of the promo/living social...

Okay so the girl I spoke with said the 3g to 4g is a Chicago only discount that applies to people working in certain companies. She talked to her supervisor who said there is no way I can get it.
I guess I will have to try calling again.

Called Verizon yesterday to see if they'd bump up my upgrade date from the end of April to now. To my surprise, the rep. checked with his manager, and got approval--on the condition that I picked a phone then and there, because there was no guarantee that another rep would be able to get approval. In spite of screwing up the Gnex release in every possible way, I have to give Verizon kudos for: Saving me $350, moving my upgrade date up by over 5 months, and appeasing my Gnex anxiety.

In any event, I ended up "Renting a Rezound," and I'll have the phone by Wednesday night. Here's to hoping that I won't even have to take the phone out of the box, because it's going right back to a Verizon store for a Nexus!

I just had the rep place a note in my account that I qualified for the promotion. The in-store people have access to the same system and will see it when I go to buy the phone when it launches.

This is pretty much exactly what I said after they asked what they could do for me.

"I'm calling about the $100 promotion that is available when you upgrade from a 3G to a 4G phone, my friend got a post card in the mail with the information and the code CH4GE on it, I didn't get one and would like to see if I'm eligible since I'm upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus once it comes out."

She didn't even put me on hold, she just typed it in and said that I'm eligible and could use it when the phone comes out. I then asked her if she could note it on my account so that I don't have any issues when I go to upgrade and use the discount. She then made the note on my account.
No go on the discount for me...the CSR was very polite and looked through "doorways" as suggested for CH4GE and was unable to find anything. He also looked up promo for "3g to 4g" with no success. Good thing is that I am eligible for upgrade for both phones...plus I have a $50 NE2 discount (I just found out) that hasn't been used on my account (plus the living social coupon)...so that is better than nothing. No luck on the CH4GE.

Yeah my sister works in a call center and I'm pretty sure they know how many times you call in because the previous rep has to pull up your account each time, and it says who you talked to
