From what I understand, quad cores on mobile devices aren't about having 4 monster cores, but rather having more efficient use of the processor in addition to having a low power consumption core.
Wish I had links, but anyone else that did feel free to post them...

I agree with you...............
From what i understand the quad core phones have a "5th" core that does everyday tasks and the only time the phone uses the quads is when they are needed.
This allows the phone to not use too much power. Open to correction.....:):):)

Hey everyone. First post! So I have been following this thread for a few days now and decided to not be shy and register :D .

Anyways, my original Droid's screen has been going ballistic the last 2 days, and once I unlock the screen it starts pressing so many random buttons, so it is rather annoying.

Long story short, I am PRAYING that the Nexus gets released Thursday because I basically don't have a phone at the moment. :(

Anyways, I'm glad I finally joined this forum :)
Welcome! We're glad to have you here. :)

I feel your pain - my Droid has completely stopped notifying me of received text messages, and also is refusing to put through about half of the ones that I send out.

I currently have a nokia phone from 2005 running verizon backup assistant.

When I get my galaxy nexus, it will immediately import my gmail contacts, correct?

Will I then need to use verizon backup assistant to import my current contacts?

Will they replace my gmail contacts? Will they all automatically be added (creating hordes of repeats)?

DL says Costco on the 15th!

"As early as..." is vague, and probably purposely so.

Welcome to the final stretch (I hope it is anyways!)

At least your not stuck like me, shut down my Nexus One and switched my family to Verizon in anticipation for the Nexus.

That was a few weeks ago now and I have been stuck using a BB Bold. It is such a bad OS.

I feel your pain, I'm using a $10 Go-Phone :D

Loving the customization already: [ROM] 13 Dec Ir5 / pre-Ir6 (kitchen): MCR (new: Facebook contact sync + more!) - xda-developers

13 Dec 14:00 (pre Ir6)
  • Added initial support for contact sync via the Facebook app. Further enhancements to follow, but basically functionality should now be working.
  • Replaced 'patched TweetDeck with 'TweakDeck'.

I want to root this phone prior to setup but . . . it doesn't look as easy as "unrevoked forever". When I rooted MY Dinc, I had to do it the hard way so I'm not averse to it but when I rooted my wife and friend's Dinc I found the Unrevoked method much easier. Anyone know of the easiest way?

Sure I know about THIS THREAD and also THIS THREAD .

EDIT*** Actually the Superboot method looks pretty easy.

I had the same thing happen. Watch for random Facebook postings and text messages.

I have seen a lot of people ordering the Diztronic/TPU case. Does this case allow you to use the docks with case on? Was just curious why it is so popular?

I have yet to post anything regards a date as I know so many are puked out over dates by now. At any rate, I am retired so I sleep when I feel like it (which is nice) but you do miss stuff.

The manager from the Corp VZW store I use had texted me at 9:33pm last night to call him. I didn't wake til 3:30am so I couldn't call til just now (his personal cell). I had had an appointment for Thursday morning so I was relatively sure it was bad news.

But I just got off the phone with him (yes, early I know but we are friends of many years). It seems the big focus now is to make 100% sure or as close as possible that all phones properly released are updated with their "new" update immediately.

That said, he had to push my appointment to Friday the 16th. He stated that was based on information he and other area managers received last evening about the OTA update not being ready for a Thursday morning release. In his words, they were told it was only a matter of hours difference and the "okay" could still come during the day Thursday.

The sales material for the in-store advertising and such wont be put up until Thursday after close and the first true sales day not actually begin until Friday. At any rate, take it with the normal grain of salt of course.

He summarized by saying that it was going to be a "soft" launch initially and that whatever the delay was from the 9th was being taken care of with the now almost frantic "must be updated" on activation. I am East coast and haven't read any of the 20th rumors so if true, that information wouldn't be available to him until he get's to his store.

Long shot... but do you think Verizon is trying to rebrand it the Nexus Prime just like the "Droid" line?
I wouldn't mind that at all, I like "Nexus Prime" much better than "Galaxy Nexus," but it's far too late to change the phone's name now. Nexus Prime was likely Google's internal name for the phone before Galaxy Nexus became official, someone at Google probably goofed and left "Nexus Prime" in the text of one of the updates sent out.

I just realised something...didn't most of the relevant PR updates from Verizon go out to various other websites way before they appeared on Verizon's? Aren't we more likely to hear news on the Phandroid front page (or BGR or DL or whoever) before it pops up on the Verizon PR page?
