Dissapointed with the Extended Battery

Stock cover will fit over it ;)

Is this true or are you messing around? I've heard reports that the extended battery fits underneath the stock cover, but then comes with a separate cover which is weird if that was the case.

I'm wondering because I will eventually get a Seidio surface case for it and if it wont work with the extended battery I'll just grab an extra standard one.

I actually like the curves of the phone better with the extended cover on. I have a very hard time seeing the difference affecting a case. Also I am using my phone in a normal fashion and at 10 hours with 43% remaining. But that is on wifi.

No I'm not messing around it will fit, its a tight fit but it fits.

That's pretty phenomenal battery life. I don't mind it being thicker except it may mean the Seidio surface won't fit on the phone.

I got my Gnex today with the extended baterry. I installed the battery, plugged in the charger, the battery charge indicator showed up at the center of the screen for about 10 seconds and then the screen went blank.

It hase been plugged in for some 3 hours now and I dont know how far along the charge is. The screen remains off. Is this normal? Will the phone notify me that the initial charge is complete?

I am using plug charger, not USB.

Try turning the phone on :D

I bought the extended battery and i cant tell the difference in thickness. I am liking how much battery life I am getting out of it. I charged it up to 100% and its been off the charger for 7 hours and still at 68% battery life. I've only been texting, checking emails, and looking on the app market a few times (also i turn off 4g in my house because my house doesn't get it usually, 1 bar at most, not worth killing the battery over)

All in all, I'm loving my Nexus (droid 2 was ass)

You will absolutely notice a weight difference. It makes it heavier. Those of you who complain about samsungs "cheap" feel will find the phone to feel more "premium". Those who like a lighter phone like myself will be slightly disappointed.

Stock battery fully charged and got a full 8 hours with 30% left. I used it as normally as I used my Dinc in the past. All of it on wifi.

Always remember that we tend to spaz out using a new shiny object... Battery life will hurt on any phone with the use that we are putting these things right now. That said, turning on the LTE radio only when you really want it should help a lot. There just isn't much we can do about the wattage hungry LTE radios right now... It isn't just a Nexus thing...

I'm at 7 hours and 55% with the extended battery right now. At my current rate, I should get about 14 hours, which is more than acceptable. This is with brightness turned up and on 4G the whole time. However, the phone was in my pocket idle about half that time. The other half I was using it for email, browsing, etc.

At $25, the extended battery is a no-brainer!

Anyone try the Seidio surface case with the extended battery in yet? It sounds like it doesn't add a ton of thickness, so I'm hoping it will still fit.

what is everyone doing on their Nexus to help extend the battery life? My extended battery sucks. 4G is off, syncs are off...any other advice? thanks.

the OS definitely needs to learn a new battery. I charged mine last night to 100%, and let it run down until it shut itself off (took about 5 hours), turned the phone right back on and it read 50% life. That new found life only lasted another hour - but its proof the system needs to learn.

Give it a couple days.

It won't help as much as the syncs and 4G being off, but being on wifi will help. Fewer widgets, lower screen brightness, use a darker or black wallpaper. Hope this helps.

Some comments one battery life.

It does take a few days for the software to predict battery life. Its not an exact science. Best to do full charge, full discharge a few times. Still, the standard battery isn't going to be great.

Second, and this is more encouraging, some folks at XDA found that there is a process that's killing the battery. A kernel flash helps immensely. So I expect this to be a temporary situation.

Well even with the extended, I was getting a max of five hours.

I always have brightness turned all the way up, and I don't want to change that.

Heading to the store to just get an extra battery + charger combo.

I didn't want to have to swap both a battery AND a battery door.

I don't think you need to change the door . The extended battery fits under the stock cover and obviously visa verse

Today was a day with light use, probably average for me. Mine is doing fine, the peak is where I shut down and installed the Skinomi screen protector and rebooted. It's kind of interesting how it peaked and came back down. Either way, this thing didn't touch a charger all day and was in 4G all day.

I tried that, but was a little too tight for me. I was worried about the tabs getting strained.

Plus I like the idea of charging the second battery while not in use.

:)
