Dissapointed with the Extended Battery

Here is today so far. Granted pretty light day of browsing and texting; But for all that have had issues with battery, ouch! And for all you isheep lurkers-suck it:cool: Last night at work party had co-workers husband who is an obvious sheep sit on the pedestal and look down frowning on android and saying that if android could fix battery issues would be a good product. (At the same time when I showed him this screen displaying the battery discharge rate his jaw about dropped to the floor. Maybe IOS6 can rip this off too and claim it their own!)This is through 3 full discharges on standard battery. Nothing turned off other than NFC as I cannot use currently and on 4G the entire time-again granted pretty light use today:D. Getting my hopes up when extended comes in next week.

I think they may have some apps that don't play well with ICS AND the phone is still new so people are playing with it a lot more. Heck I know I am picking mine up more than usual.
 
Forgot to add that according to my battery info app I still have 7-8 more hours left on my stock battery.
 
I just put my phone on the charger at 4% battery left. It went about 13-14 hours today on some 3G/Wifi.

I was looking at the battery stats and noticed that Screen took up most of my battery aat 47% and when I clicked on it my screen on time was like 3 hours 1 min...lol

So yea...I can't complain about the extended battery. Probably gave me an extra hour of use tonight out of it. If they can figure out why that Android OS is consuming so much battery from the awake time, then we will really be in business.

Tonight will be my 4th full cycle charge of the battery.
 
does anybody with the extended battery have the otterbox case? does it fit?

i have the defender case and was wondering if purchasing the extended case would make sense.

True, and that is why I think a lot of peeps need to lighten up on battery issues and wait to complain until the new year hah
 
Run it til its dead, fully charge it while its OFF. Repeat 4-5 times. See " the secret to battery life" thread i created.
 
Purchased the extended battery yesterday and installed it today. For those of you wondering the STOCK COVER DOES NOT FIT WELL with the extended battery installed. Some people might have been able to wedge it on (i finally was able to get it to close all around), but when you attempt to take it off it practically jumps off from all of the tension. I would suggest using the cover that came with the extended battery. Like someone posted before "it's there for a reason". And remember the ones who tried using a stock cover on extended Droid X battery and ended up ruining their screens.
 
Does anyone know of an app that automatically toggles LTE on/off when I fire up the web browser. I'd really only want 4G speeds when I'm surfing or watching a video. Does Tasker do this?
 
What are you people doing to drain these batteries so fast? I am getting great battery life with this phone - 17-22 hrs with normal use. Are you playing like a game for an hour or something? If so, then sure I would expect poor life but with normal use this phone seems good.

I'd have to disagree. I definitely noticed a weight difference, as the phone carries more weight towards the bottom, now. It feels more "solid", but overall, I still wouldn't call it heavy.

That said, I handed the phone to a friend who wanted to try it out, and they commented on how light it was (the person came from an original Droid). I informed them that I had the slightly heavier extended battery in it, so if they picked up a normal phone, it would be even lighter, to which they were pleasantly surprised.

This. It IS only 15% greater so you'll get maybe 2-3 hours longer than stock. I would have loved to see a 3000 mAh battery and bring it to the thickness of the stock Bionic and that would have been just fine.

At this point battery tech just needs to be improved. Supposedly there's a new tech/breakthrough that allows for charging within 30 minutes what would take hours, and then it doesn't really matter too much if you only get "a day" out of your battery.
 
Also here are some tips that have helped me since day one with the OG Droid, the Droid-X, X-2, the Bionic and the Thunderbolt:

-Keep WiFi off when not in use or in areas where there are many WiFi signals. It will constantly be searching for a network it "remembers"
-If you CAN use WiFi instead of the 3g/LTE do!
-Disable LTE if you're not using it. (On my Bionic and Thunderbolt with extended batteries this added SEVERAL hours to my battery life)
-TURN THAT SCREEN BRIGHTNESS DOWN to as low as you can stand it! (People who have the brightness on max and complain the battery sucks...I don't know what to tell you lol)
-Turn off Bluetooth if you're not using it. (I love Tasker or other apps that put your phone on a schedule so if you know you'll be at work and WANT Wifi on or bluetooth off etc it works well)
-Going to be somewhere where you won't have signal or won't be using it for a few hours? Airplane mode the sucker

I recommend BatteryTime Pro and Battery Info Pro widgets they're both amazing for tracking the usage as well as estimates of remaining time, remaining time doing certain activities (such as 3d gaming, phone call etc) AND remaining CHARGE time, which was indispensable for me.

Tasker could probably do this, although I don't think it's compatible with ICS yet. It does have the ability to change a setting based on the context of launching an app though, so it would make sense.

Tasker's not compatible yet but I'm sure the dev is hard at work on it!
 
My 2 cents about the stock battery. I took it off the charger fully charged at 8:30 AM, played Pandora for 30 mins, sent some texts, streamed Jackass 3D from netflix for 30 mins, played Collapse for 15-20 mins, and checked some emails. Battery is 10% dead 2 hours later, I'm quite happy with my battery life. I only lose 4G service in NYC when I go into the subway for 15 mins so I basically always have a signal.

My brigthness is on Auto as well.

I have a similar question, wondering if anyone has the incipio feather and the extended battery cover? I'm assuming that the feather wouldn't fit, but if the extended cover doesn't add much thickness, maybe there's a possibility. The back of the Nexus, while 'rubberized' is just a tad to slick for me.

Defender case DOES work with the extended battery. I have one on mine I just wish it wasn't so bulky. I may get a Toughcase or Commuter instead.
 
Just want to let you guys know the weights of the batteries I have.
1850 mAh = 39.19g or 1.38oz
2100 mAh = 43.60g or 1.53oz
