Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

Hi Bloodawn,

Will SetCPU work with this mod? Or is it a waste of time considering all of the tweaks you have done? Just curious... and I appreciate your work. I hope you got my donation, albeit small, it was what I can afford.

You can't change the clock speed of the prevail's processor. It's basically hardwired. Also post 1001! that's reply #1000!

as Kouma said, you cant change the clock speed

Yes i got it, Thank you man!

Yes, I do read the posts, and I was 999... just waiting for Bloodawn's reply to make it 1000. Spoilsports! I should have been more clear in my question. SetCPU has some settings for adjusting and lowering the throttle (not overclocking) in various modes... like when the the screen shuts down (underclocking?). There are other options too. It supposedly lowers the the speed to save battery. That is what I was curious about. If ctmod already does this, I didn't want to install it. Thanks.

As a side note: With all of the tweaks you guys are doing, would it be wise for me to start a thread on what apps you DON'T need to install (more like purchase... Setcpu, Titanium, Root Explorer, sd booster, certain scripts, etc...) with some of these tweaks and mods? I say tweak, but I realize it is much more than that. Might save some money (for us) that could be diverted to you.

i don't think bloodawn added any cpu govenor/cpu frequency changes or scripts in his rom. i believe the cpu runs on demand with a min cpu frequency at 245mhz and 800mhz max.

Hey everyone i'm trying to set my default camera to Camera Zoom FX but I am unable to do so.

Anyone have an idea how I can enable it to be my default camera as opposed to Miui Camera? I already set Camera Zoom FX to be my default camera but whenever I press the Camera button on my phone it launches Miui Camera instead

theres nothing you can do to change the default camera, I had to modify MIUI Camera to even get it to work

It's so weird. I was doing a lot of reading because I want to learn to make my own apps. Here's a basic rundown of how I understand it should work:

New APK is discovered in one of the app directories > APK is opened and AndroidManifest.xml is read, finding what actions are defined (camera apps probably have something like android.intent.something.CAMERA somewhere in there) to tell the system that they are a receiver for camera events, like the camera button.

If more than 1 app is defined as the receiver for an event, Android is supposed to pop up a dialog when the event occurs asking the user which app they want to use for it (and to use it as default if applicable).

You can see this behave correctly when you go into Settings > Sound Settings > Phone ringtone. CTmod provides 2 options out of the box, Music and Android System.

The same thing should happen when you press the camera button from the home screen when you have multiple camera apps installed. It doesn't.

IIRC, Blood had to make changes to MIUI camera to make it respond to teh name of the default camera for it to work

the only bootloops that have been reported were from people trying to flash the rom over froyo

a apk shouldn't cause a bootloop anyway, what changes have you made? you remove anything?

only got rid of zeam and quickpic. replaced with launcher 7 and gallery

you installed launcher 7 before removing zeam right? that wouldnt cause a bootloop anyway tho, your screen would just be black.

was your phone vibrating alot on the boot animation?

yeah i installed L7 first. It was not vibrating. All i did was replace those two apps then installed my apps back. Still had 91mb free and restarted the phone. It didnt happen until then. I restarted it once before installing a majority of the apps and it started back up fine.

if you made it to the boot animation but you werent vibrating then you werent bootlooping

did you install alot of apps then clear dalvik cache or something? can take forever to boot when you do that

Just a(nother) thank you for this rom. To all who contributed.

It's wicked fast. Much more responsive. Looks great too. Altogether like a new phone. Love all the extra internal space as that's this phone's achilles heal.

:D

I love the CTMod! However, it appears to me that download/upload arrows are reversed (most of the time I see the up arrow to be active vs. the download arrow), I could be wrong though, anyone noticed that?
