Root Sprint telling me I can't activate a rooted phone?

ok you have to be careful what you read. that thread was from the motorolla droid forum. they are completely different phones.

so this is what i would do first i would copy the content of your card to your computer and then format the card. this will delete your cards content. once formatted then you can copy the card's content back to the card and then try again.

Where should I put the content of the card on my computer? Just make a new folder and put it on my desktop for easy access once I'm done formatting the card.

One more question, I still have the MIKG rom on my SD card, I still want to try out cm7 for a while. Should I get MikG off my SD card before rebooting it up again? So it doesn't run that ROM?

it will not run that way. to get roms installed you need to flash them in recovery. once they are flashed then the file on the card is not needed. so yes you can delete it. it is just taking up space. and the same goes for cm7. when you are done with it, you can delete it as well.
 
Found the problem, was using a sd slot with a micro sd adaptor. Found my USB micro sd reader. Sure enough... it worked. Figures. alright, here I go again! lol.
 
okay got all files and the gapps onto the SD card. Now what do I do to get the gapps on there, I need to get to the boot screen right? I forgot the procedure, was it hold volume up and power button? (that just gives me 3 vibrations). I forgot.

ok to go into recovery it is power+vol down.

and in recovery make sure to wipe dalvik cache(found in advanced) and cache then flash the gapps file.

Must not be doing it right..... Volume down button and holding the power button down at the same time.... get nothing.... and a couple accidental start ups.

are you on cm7 now? if not then power up the phone go into settings/apps/uncheck fastboot. now you should be able to get into recovery.
 
Got it, got pissed after trying to hard... all I had to do was press it down really hard... my down volume button sucks lol
 
Wallah! You are a savior! I now have Visual Voicemail. But here's the kicker... that I need help with. Everytime I restart my phone it says at the top I have a voicemail (via the traditional voicemail not vvm.... and I also get a text message or two right away from 9106 telling me I have a voicemail as well from android saying "provisional successful" and "android has sent you a sprint voicemail". Will these go away once I set up VVM?

well i use go sms and you could just add the 9016 text to the blacklist and you will not see that message again.
 
Restarted again, the traditional voicemail still comes up saying I have a voicemail, when I really don't. Shouldn't it recognize I'm using VVM now?

go into vvm and compose a message to yourself. it should provision your vvm and you should be good to go.
 
Yep the VVM provisioned itself after your tip. I don't mind the stock SMS program on here, but it will probably get really annoying every time I get a voicemail to get 2 text messages from "Android" telling me I have a voicemail. I'll have to try "go SMS" and blacklist it if there is no other way to stop it. Any cool things about GO SMS compared to the stock messaging program?

you should try go sms i really like it. but if not then you can also use this app BlackList

Okay. I thought I had the new voicemail provisioned, but I guess not. The traditional voicemail still comes up after restart saying I have a voicemail, even though I have none at all. The message to myself though went through VVM, so I know at least that part of it is set. But it's bugging me that the Traditional voicemail still comes up after every restart. :( Any advice to get rid of it?
