Root [Recovery] [ClockworkMod] Touch recovery 5.8.0.1

Thanks, I wish they'd focus on fixing our wiping problems with that recovery rather than making it touchscreen.

I'll stick with Amon Ra until i hear otherwise.

That's interesting but is it possible to still use the volume and power keys? I remember when I screwed up my touchscreen on MIUI and wasn't able to use the touchscreen til I got another ROM/backup.

I'm sort of with Rupert. I'm still using Amon-Ra and its still great.

I would imagine the volume rocker and power button still function as before. I am using Amon RA 3.11 and they still work even with the buttons on the bottom being functional.

Yeah they would have to do something completely amazing to make me give up amon ra besides team win has already done this so no biggie I know amon isn't going to leave me helpless

Still doesn't appear to handle the sd-ext partition correctly. Someone already posted an issue with restoring data from there using the new recovery. RA is definitely still the recovery to use on the OG.

Isn't this still in beta? Hopefully this will be ironed out in a stable release. The touch recovery is the future of recoveries for phones and tablets, might as well get used to it now

Yeah...although this is really cool, I'm sure that it will have some major bugs somewhere in it. This is best used for those who don't use their recovery much or the truly advanced users who can fix the issue each time it arises.

I always wondered why recoveries for Android touch devices never had touch capabilities but it makes total sense when seeing it from my angle. I'd like to see this get ported over to Amon-Ra and other recoveries just to see what kinds of things could be done differently.

Out of curiosity, do you use a touch keyboard like how you would type a command into Command Prompt or does it just enable you to select the options available with your fingers?

I cannot trust this recovery whatsoever, the backup feature is a joke in my opinion and deleted my InfectedROM Sense 3.5 backup as soon as it finished backing up. Also it can have lots of md5 errors when restoring even though the hashes match perfectly. Back to AmonRA 2.3 for me.

Although I stand by Amon-RA, I must say that some versions of CWM are better than others. So it really depends on what version you tried. When i first started out, people warned me to not try the latest version but version x.x because it had less bugs. I just wanted to throw that out there that it's not a completely garbage recovery altogether.

Agreed...if it ain't broke....

There just isnt much of a need for a different recovery on the evo

well i learned the hard way to stay away from new recoveries until all of the bugs have been worked out. my evo is still feeling the effects of twrp 2.0 rco1 which is still stuck in froyo land with no sd card. i really have not the time to play with of late and see if i can fix it. i should have stayed with amon ra 2.3 and still have a working evo. oh well you live and learn.

i still never trust clockwork mod recoveries. and i mean no disrespect to the team pf devs that work on it.

I think that's fixable. I rescued my EVO from a similar situation. Though mine really hasn't been the same since either . . .. We'll have to get you up and running, when you have some time ;).
