Root 2.6.35.14 kernel for cm7

It's possible that a factory wipe would fix the issue .
I always go in to CWM and clear the cache and fix permissions . It's just a habit I've gotten in to .
There was also one issue I was having when I flashed the DATA2EXT kernel that I didn't mention . When I flashed , I had absolutely no data or radio signal . The Boost Network was completely down . I don't think that had anything to do with me having to re-enable data but I thought that it needed to be mentioned . You would know better than I .

are you still running the test kernel, and are you getting signal now ?

I'm running CM7 beta 5 with 263514_CM7_B45_KRN no issues so far.i'm not running any extra scrips on my prevail. did a fresh install if CM7 beta 5 then installed the kernal. im not using Pure App2SD. i don't really have the need for it.

I applied 263514_CM7_B45_KRN.zip to my CM7B4HF3 install and on first reboot everything appeared fine. Then on 2nd reboot, and every second reboot thereafter, all personalized settings (wallpaper, launcher settings, etc) were lost. It appears very similar to problems reported on CM7, Beta 5 where launcher icons were "lost" and "recovered" randomly upon reboot.

In my current experience with this kernel, when the settings were lost, what apparently happened was that /data was being mounted to the SD-Ext partition, which strikes me as very odd since this version of the kernel is not supposed to have that functionality enabled.

Sorry that I have been out of the loop on this, but been pretty busy lately for a newly unemployed bum.

I flashed the sd-ext version of this kernel and have been running with it since Biker told me about it.

I was using CTMOD 2.5 at the time just because I had lost touch with that ROM since 2.3 and wanted to compare. Both Excellent Roms. But this is the one. Until the next one

Anyway, I did a Factory Reset and restored my CWM backup of Beta 5. It had the original kernel that got this whole data 2 SD thing started. The solution.

Booted it up and used Root Explorer to clear Dalvik. Then shut down to Recovery.

Flashed new sd-ext kernel. Rebooted.

Seems to run fine. I noticed a few times when 3g was not kicking in.

I had an unusual number of long phone calls today and after those ended 3g was a little sluggish to come back. Reminded me of Juice Defender in Extreme Mode.

I have a notification screen widget to Toggle 3g. I used it once or twice to jump start it. Which worked.

But it was not consistently slow to turn on 3g. After a couple of hours, it seems to have quit being stubborn.

Works fine as far as I can tell now. Been pretty busy using it so have had not had time to test. Lol.

I think the 1x usually means text messaging. I Have had no problems with that either.

Edit:
The notification screen lock up problem happened today too, but I guess that is not caused by the kernel.

I had the trouble with this zip : 263514_CM7_B45_KRN.zip

The DT2EXT version is working great . I'm going to test it for a little while longer tonight then put it through it's paces tomorrow .

As for 3g , I waited about 5 minutes after flashing the DT2EXT to see if it would come on but it was a no go . I went in to settings and sure enough , 3g was disabled .

Just installed, my 3g seems ok Ian on my phone right now,

Yes, I'm running Beta 5 with ThemeChooser added and the new DAT2EXT kernel. I've been running it since yesterday evening and found nothing wrong with it so far. I just had to enable 3g after flashing. No biggie. Boost towers were only down for approx an hour. I know the loss of signal was a Boost issue because two phones in the bouse lost data and radio signal at the same time . All apps are working normally. Going to try a Bluetooth transfer in a minute. I know it's going to work but I still need to test it. :D

Edit: just needed to clarify one thing . When I say everything is running as it should, I mean no NEW issues. I figured that I need to post this in case a noob reads it then starts screaming about issues already mentioned in the original CM7 thread. :p

I am starting to get confused with the plethora of Roms and Kernels we are fortunate to be working with.

I suggest we post a screen shot of About Phone when asking a question. Or at least provide this info.

Hey If you want to you may think about a kernel that will help battery charging, as well as life.

I read in the evo forums about the sbc=superior battery charging kernels.
I also find they work very very well.

the bulk of what they do is let the battery charge fully, I dont know about you but I find it annoying as can be when I pull the prevail off the charger and within minutes it drops 6-12% from 100%

If you are interested in looking over the evo kernel for that I will post one here

Every thing seems to be working fine to me..

EDIT:
Phone definitely seems to boot faster... between this kernel and the new ramscript in b5 the previal seems to have taken flight.

Hey Hroark
I wanted to try and helpful so I took the phone back to stock and loaded cm7 ver5 then I flashed both test ker and dtkern . Im running around 30 apps.
So,I did a couple of re boots and ran speed test!
The phone seems alot more responsive and apps don't disappear after reboot and 3g consistently!
Could only add one att
Also test scores up more then what I had.
Hope this helps!

i think the whole thing with apps disapearing was that we were using both mounts lines to kind of have a fail over, and maybe the sd-card just was not quick enough at times, so it mounted the internal

that is why on this kernel i made 2 versions

will post quadrant standard when i find version everyone else is using... New one goes super slow for me and results are much less impressive <~1400 - ~1550> (even before i tried 'the solution')

that must be why my results are crap. ohh well. my phones running good. havent seen any problems so i would consider this stable. going back to testing prl's cause of my crap speeds.

its with the newest from the market, vers 2.0. idk why its so slow. i think it did the same with cm7v5 kernel but i didnt pay much attention

i mean i posted a link to the apk file, if you want, you can download it and install it and then do another test

well, so far everything seems to be running just fine... haven't noticed anything doing anything funky... runnin a fresh CM7beta5 CM7_B45_KRN_DT2EXT without anything else... also, I didn't experience the 3G issue that some others were having... as you said... smooth...
