Eris to v2.x, when?

Just updated, love it. My only disappointments thus far:

Lock screen remained the same

Even after updating the maps app, I don't seem to have pinch-to-zoom. Anybody else notice this, or am I just missing something really obvious?

Thanx for the speedy reply.

Kind of a bummer about the no landscape home screen, but no biggie. I AM glad about retaining 7 home screens in sense tho. I like to space my apps/widgets out over certain screens for certain functions (like I have one page with gps/outdoors related things on em: hiking GPS apps, maps, googlesky, weatherbug). I don't like cramming a bunch of apps/widgets to one screen because it just looks too busy, and makes it too hard to enjoy the nice wallpaper behind em.

Also dumbfounded by the no pinch to zoom we've been hearing so much about.

No pinch to zoom, though I got update for 4.0 Also, under settings there are lab settings, which is nice. Only problem i'm getting is having to resign into google every boot. And I can't remove facebook contact pics. Oh, also I can't select to sync only My Contacts. Instead, it pulls everyone i've emailed. On 1.5 I could do these things.
 
I have moved the file to my sd card and followed the directions, but I am not given an option to select hboot??? Can someone help me out?
 
Power off. Then hold Send and End key, will boot up to the white screen with text. Press Volume Down. Use trackball to select. Let it run its course.
 
ok, i powered the phone up by pressing the "power" and "call" button like thekrtek said..

i press volume down to get to hboot and a green list of words quickly appears and disappears, and then nothing...

i've tried pressing the trackball and send/power button in both hboot and fastboot and nothing happens. i just tried recovery, and all i get is the triangle/exclamation image. i'm using the stock sd card that came with the phone, btw.

any help?

Thanks for the quick reply. I followed the above directions, but when I press the power and send key and the white screen comes up, the only options that it gives me to highlight are: bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader, and power down. What do I choose?
 
I tried downloading google earth from market. It installed, but when I try to open it nothing happens. Has anyone else tried it? Same result?
 
Everything is a hell of a lot snappier... only issue so far is that the facebook -> contact linking isn't working. Try to look up the facebook contact to link and nothing is listed.

Anyone else seeing that?

Whoo! Lovin' the 2.1 otherwise, though!

I never had it with 1.5
But, ill check on 2.1 when my phone gets a second to rest :)

As long as you downloaded the file, dropped it in the SD card, didnt rename it, all should work :confused:

I had to go under the settings and accounts sync then facebook and select sync contacts. If you can find a way to remove facebook pics as contact icons I would love you forever.

ffuuuu

i just realized i downloaded 2 copies of the file, with the second one being the patched version, which of course downloaded as PB00IMG(2). that's the one i put in the sd card........
 
robo i had same problem, if ur using astro manager, copy the zip file, then hit the folder with the arrow up so the top of astro says /sdcard, then past into there, should be good to go from there

Hmm I didn't know you could do that even on 1.5! Hah guess I should've looked into that, my contact list seemed a bit laggy because of all the names I had to go through, but I guess it's just even more of a problem now that there's no way to fix it on here. Hope theres a solution or it gets updated in official 2.1 release.

dirty, but it should work.

Settings - Social Networks - Click Facebook to log out - log back in - go back to People/Contacts and slide over to the pictures where they should show up as Link to Facebook profile or whatever, and then deselect the use profile picture

Thanks for the help. I did place it where it says /sdcard, but let me go ahead and copy and repaste it in and see if that works. Thanks for the help!!

Ok. I'm biting the bullet....if anyone cares...

They really sound optimistic there about a root within the next week. Looks like all we needed was this to jumpstart interest again. Nice.
