Rooted and cwm recovery

here is the new update with bug fixes, ciq removal, and lockup issue

you must be on the stock odex rom

restore a backup from the original rom then flash the update

Is this something we should do before boost tries it automatically? Also, anyway to implement this into MB, or something we need to do on our own?

up to u.. i can add it to the old version tomorrow.

Otherwise just install this, then flash my updated mb 1.2zvc rom and youll be good

I may wait.. Just don't trust using cwm recovery.. This way I won't have to, I could just install MB again and be good lol. I'd appreciate that very much.

Ok quick question, Do I flash this update via Install from zip, or the update.zip method? That other zip install method has me a bit confused over this. :P
 
I think ZVC is what to use if one want to use the Murky Beats rom? I'm a bit confused now as to the difference other then the different version string I have with the new one.

I'm a little confused as well. I wanna update my boost marquee, but do not want to run into the issue you have (is not or will not activate and no 3G only 1x).
 
Does anyone know how long this update takes to install. 10, 20, 30 minutes? I have not received the OTA update yet. And not really sure if I want to if it is killing root.

Oh, and what is actually in this update? I see a lot of conjecture, but no real information of what it actually does.

Didn't seem like it took any longer than a ROM being flashed, I'd say. As for What is in it.. from what I was told it has a couple bug fixes and possibly removes CIQ. Though I know currently CIQ is still installed and active. I also noticed I received the same errors at the end like everyone else and cannot tell if it was installed or not. I switched from MB v1.2zvc back to MBv1.2 and noticed that the About Phone is showing ZV3 for S/W. As where MB 1.2xvc showed S/W was ZVC. I also notice under Settings>Applications>Running Services, that 'Update Device' is constantly running. Though after I flash the ROM's I get 'Checking for Firmware Update' then 'No Firmware Update was found'. So I am a tad confused myself..
 
i just tried the zv4_21_inc.zip for my Boost Marquee, but I fear I have done something wrong or missed a step.

I had rooted with cwm installed with stock installed...

did a factory reset,
booted into cwm; install zip from file, and wipe cahe

phone gets stuck on the boost mobile screen; been like that for at leaset 10 min.

Did I miss something?

If we are supposed to uninstall root and cwm, to be virgin stock, how do you install this?
 
You may have to do a factory reset prior to installing this like with the MB rom. I have never gotten the ZV4_inc update to work properly for me. Android force closes when I try the update so I have rolled back with my backup. I still have the new radio though since CWM won't backup the radio image on it's own.

Would love to install this update but do not know how to do what you're talking about. Please help me out or direct me to a site where I can learn these basics.
Damn....one click root was so easy.
My rooted marquee will not update via ota. Tried twice, still same software version. Still having power cycles during phone calls.

First of all you do not want to do the OTA Update since it will remove CWM and Root and remove the working exploit to allow it to be Re-Rooted.
READ EVERYTHING BELOW FIRST: ( Disclaimer: AndroidForums and its users are not responsible for anything that could happen, continue at own risk.)

1) Use Titanium BackUp *Root* to back up all your apps and data. So that you can restore them with TiBU *root* after you are done.-

2)If you do not have CWM, I suggest following the instructions >Here<(Make sure you connect your phone to your pc and select charge only. Also want to enable debugging mode, Settings>Applications>Development>Enable Debugging. Download the .zip, open the file for the system you are running.
*After that as long as you are on the Stock ROM; If you DO NOT have a Stock ROM Backup you can download TryingToRoot's >Here<, (as in not installed Marky Beats or Undeniable Marquee) you can go to the first Post in this Thread and flash the update in CWM. (Download the ZVC Link, Use Root Explorer or any file manager and copy the .zip to the root of your SD Card, download the file from the next step and put it in the same place you will need it after. Then Boot into CWM by either downloading Quick Boot From the Market, or Power Off and then hold vol. down and power at the same time for 10-20 seconds untill CWM Recovery Opens. Use Vol. down to navigate to wipe cache partition then press the magnifying glass and go to yes. Then go to the beginning and install zip from SD. Then find the zvc update and select that and down to yes. Then you want to go to wipe data/factory reset and yes. Now you can go to install zip from SD again and this time find MBv1.2zvc and go to yes. If you get errors at the end don't worry about that. Now go do wipe data/factory reset again. Then go to Advanced and Fix Permissions and yes, will take a minute, sit tight it will finish.
3) Then go >Here< to get Marky Beats v1.2zvc ROM.
After you are done select reboot. be aware Boot will take a while for the first boot. As long as the music doesn't keep repeating then you are not in a boot loop, just hang tight for a while.
Then use TiBU *root* and restore.

Just follow the instructions posted, you should be all good.

Not at the moment without losing root. Once there is a working ZVC exploit to allow adb pushing the correct root files, people should be able to flash the update the "official" way, then root.
