I have a HTC evo 4g .. i can root without computer? what happens is that any computer recognize my htc ... only charge.

As far as I am aware you will need the computer to root. If you go to the Rooting section for your particular hboot then you should find the drivers that are needed to communicate with the phone.

yes the guide will help you root the phone, but you will still need to use a cmputer to do it.

I installed the drivers .. but still does not recognize my HTC.. only charge.
what drivers did you installed? did you try and install HTC sync?

no .. and i change manually USB connection type: disk drive, htc sync .. etc. .. and active in "ask me".. but still does not recognize my HTC .. try and 3 computers .. and try more usb cables.

i just realized that they have a new htc sync version. so try this one:setup_3.2.1.exe
not with the new method. just with unrevoked and revolutionary. the new methods do not need sync either, but it is not necessary that you delete it.

ok when you are in fastboot, what happens when you type in the commands? do you get an error?

nothing happens because when connected to USB .. not recognized
ok just making sure cuz sometimes when in fastboot it will get recognized.
just to make sure again, when you select fastboot in the bootloader menu, does it change from fastboot to fastboot usb?
and when type:

and again just to be sure when you enter the command nothing happens? do you get a waiting device message?

ok, sorry about that, i just had to be sure. it sounds like then that it could be either your usb port or your sd card.
what size card are you using? do you have a different one you can try?
