Root Virtual Memory

Koumamod.apk

Blood sent me an early copy so I could make sure my apk integrated correctly and to test 3g and phonecalls.

I should probably test sms/mms and report back to blood.

ok, known limitations of the new apk.
It isn't a 'root' explorer..... yet :)
that means it's stuck in the Android sandbox and there are a bunch of folders it can't browse into.
also, it limits you to only 4 total swap partitions/files.

if you go into a folder that you want to put a swapfile in, pick <Current Directory> at the top of the list. It will let you make a swapfile :D

it will activate the swaps on boot, but it can be kinda slow to do it, it keeps checking for the swaps to be available, then attaches them, so don't freak out if it takes a couple minutes to see the space in 'free' or in /proc/swaps
 
man i wish i or we could get the swap to work and share one of the partitions to be able to use ssm. man mine is running so good and fast now.

Why couldn't you?
Just make a swapfile on your SD card, then move it to /data/app with root explorer or es file explorer, and change the folder path in koumamod to the right folder. Just because it can't tree into it now doesn't mean it can't access those places for swap and type it in manually

ok, well i thought that you said before had to be on data? but will have to try that not tonight, on eastern time. but if i have aproblem can i pm you to help me out with that??
 
Thank you, @kouma, by rereading this thread, i now have a swap file on both the data partition and the sdcard, each 96mb. However one with a priority of -1 and the other -2 (I'm doing it wrong?)

naw, you're fine. if you don't specify a priority to swapon, it defaults to the highest available negative number (so first time it's -1, the next is -2, etc)

highest value has the highest priority, so -1 is your top priority swap, which you have as the internal, which will give you top notch performance.

I can't seem to find that one. XP
And also, do you know how much of pData (physical data) we can actually set up (aka the Max MB)

And got FCs.

Well / is the ramdisk, you cant put anything there, that's inside the kernel
/system should work. I'll look into it
Edit: Strike that, even if it did work, /system is read only. you could put a swapfile there, but then you couldn't use it.
 
hi all i have the new 3.6 ct mod installed data is mounted but when i use the menu fot memory i get sorry the application koumaMod (process com.koumaMod.prevail) has stoped unexpectedly. please try again.

i have tryed everwhere i can on the sd card in a empty dir on sd in phone ram i get the same message anywhere i try to make a swap file ?
any sugestions?
thanks this sight is awesome been reading it for months .

I had same problem. get the app swapper2 for root users and make /sdcard/swapfile.swp the size you want.
go into koumamod and choose /sdcard/swapfile.swp
and save settings
then in terminal...
"su"
"swapoff /sdcard/swapfile.swp"
"mv /sdcard/swapfile.swp /data/swap/swapfile.swp"
(that where I put my first swap)
go back to koumamod and manually change /sdcard/swapfile.swp to / data/swap/swapfile.swp
save settings. if you want another do same thing just make on sdcard first and have koumamod look at it then swapoff and move and manually change. I put my second in /data/app/swapfile.swp since I got ssm
 
no computer here. haven't had one for months and always use mediafire. any chance you can shoot it to icep999@gmail.com if I can't get it going
