Root Who's used Koush's ROM?

For the adventurous types, it looks like someone got AdamZ's 1.1GHz low voltage kernel ported over for Koush's ROM.

Check post #6 here:

Low-Voltage Kernel - CyanogenMod Forum

I'd try it, but I had an exam tonight and naturally, I'm a bit inebriated right now. Someone else wanna try it and report their results back?

UPDATE: ehh, didn't feel like waiting around for someone else to try it. So far, so good:

There's a LV 1.2GHz version also, but won't be up until tomorrow.

So the NexDeep theme that was ported over for the Droid has been giving me a major problem. Whenever I get a call I have to unlock the phone first and then it gives me a fc for the phone so I can't even answer. I reverted back to 5.4.0.2 and the N1 version of NexDeep. BTW this was happening on 5.4.0.3 anyone else using the Droid version of NexDeep having this problem?

I check this thread everyday. But I'm still not ready to switch from the rock solid SS 2.0.3.

I'm very interested though :)

I also get the lockscreen with 5.4.0.3 using the 24k theme but no force closes. So far so good.

Same here. I'm VERY tempted to try this but Pete's ESE53 v0.8 is literally BUGLESS (for me, anyway) and even though I want the 3D launcher bad (not sure why) I'm not sure if it's worth moving away from a ROM that is so perfect on my phone.

Hmmm, I wonder if it is a ROM problem or something to do with themes....Oh well. 5.4.0.2 is pretty much the same and I actually prefer the original N1 version of NexDeep over the Droid ported one.

A personal update...

JIT had to be removed. Just not stable and causing Pandora to stop playing while trying to surf the internet :(

I didn't have any reboots using JIT with 5.0.4.3 so I guess that is good news. Also, with JIT enabled running @ 1.2 GHz, my phone scored 232nd of all devices via Linpack :p

Hopefully it will be more stable in future releases.

No, no new updates. But Cyanogen is coming out with some big stuff I heard. I don't know what. And I read Koush is porting it over quickly too, so I'm excited to see what is coming!

See, now you've done it! :D Now starts the onslaught of question like..."Will it be out this week? Is it coming today?, What does soon mean? Do you think it will updated in the next few hours?" Haha!

Seriously, I can't wait either...When will this be released? :D

For those maybe looking to take a softer plunge: [ROM] JRummy's Koush Remix Rom (3-15-2010)

I got this running now.... and I admit... definitely one of the smoothest. I've had to do little more troubleshooting on this than others but seems pretty stable for me so far.

Couple things:

Anyone figure out the Cell Standby issue yet?. Is it a simple reporting issue? Or is it a ROM problem.

I'm running the P3droid kernel ... which is nice... very responsive no Fc's or loops... yet I dont think it is optimized for OMAP Hardware temp sensor.. so no Temp Mon which bothers me a little. Is there another LV update.zip for SPR ... or even Bekits 0.7 or stock kernel compatible with SPR for restore?. I know there is a hack for AdamZ which is a little more involved than I want to get at the moment.

Going to play the day with my present setup... see if the battery dumps out. So far I'm liking it a lot though.

Regarding the Cell issue, I have not heard of any real fix or found issue yet,

BUT, with i was running 5.0.4.2 it was giving me the 50% loss issue. I switched back to Pete's V0.8 and used AdamZ Kernal (600Mhz medium Voltage) that comes with Pete's and I found I had the the Cell Standby issue of 50% loss. I switch to AdamZ 800MHz Meduim Voltage kernel and I have not had an issue since with the Cell Standby. So it is there in other too, just seems more pronounced in Koush's for some reason

This is how to fix the cell standby issue.

1. Plug in phone charger

2. Put phone in Airplane mode

3. Put phone to sleep for a minute

4. Turn off airplane mode

5. Unplug phone

I don't it was ever said so I will ask..

do you do this just once or every time you cycle power or change power source?

Also, do you only do that if you see the issue, but not before?

Has ANYBODY tried USB tethering with this ROM? If so, did it work normally?

There were some posts earlier in the thread about USB tethering. As of now, it seems not ready for prime time. Windows recognizes it and downloads/installs the drivers and recognizes the new network but doesn't get much further than that . I am hoping it will be corrected in a future release (I can really use it when my Broadband goes down).

**SIGH** because of this^^^ and a few other bugs I've learned about after perusing Cyanogen's message board, I'll definitely be sticking with Pete's. Based on the nature of Koush's ROM and the way he operates, it doesn't look like those bugs will be fixed anytime soon which is a shame because the ROM has some REALLY cool features that many (including myself) want (TRUE 3D app drawer, 180 degree rotation).:(:(

After a few days back on SS I am giving this another shot. The options that I thought were nice but didnt think I would missed, I found myself missing.

For those having Clockwork recovery Issues ROM Manager 1.7.4 has just been posted in the market. it looks like Koush has been working hard to get any problems resolved.
