Root [Rom][5-17-12]Broken Out Connect 1.0 w/ Blitzkrieg Kernel

Just flashed. Very fast and useful ROM. :D The first ever for the Connect too, so kudos. (Unless I missed one. xD) I noticed you removed the useless MetroPCS name from the notification center, thanks a lot for that. (: Anyways, for those saying that it automatically restarts, I noticed it only does that when I overlock the CPU too much (I set it to almost 2.00GHz. x.x) So yeah, just try different speeds and see which one does not cause your phone to constantly reboot at random times (Those random times seem to be when the CPU speed scales up to speeds it was not built to handle.)

Now.. To restore Apps and data using TB. Pain in the $#%.. >_>

no im saying if there was a radio update in zva and ibwas on zv8 before flashing this rom would the rom update my radio to zva or shud i update to get that and reflash?

Alright, so I am finally done customizing the ROM the way I like it.

Just two things I have noticed that seem to not be working.. Well, one of them might be just me not knowing how to do it. :/

Anyways...

1.) There does not seem to be a Battery Charging Bar that usually is displayed when the phone is turned off and it is charging. (Real minor inconvenience, just thought I'd mention it.)

2.) [Personal, possibly.] Skyvi won't open. I tried re-installing it, deleting its data using Root Explorer, etc. No luck. And, yes, Skyvi worked just fine in stock ROM.

I have the same problem with skyvi

I found a third.

Apparently, the search suggestions for Google's Play Store are not working. They appear at random times and disappear quickly. Search history is fine.

Update for Skyvi: Installing the latest Voice Search did not help. Through research, I found out that TTSService (TextTopeech) is missing from system apps and PicoTTS is also missing. Perhaps is the lack of these apps that make Skyvi crash?

Can you update the Xperia launcher you included with the ROM? the 9.1 release added support for custom icons which I think is a BIG plus to it.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557091

I uninstalled the old one with titanium backup and its running really nice. That weather widget has me coming back every single time :p

I installed the default Launcher as soon as I flashed it. Its a nice starter Launcher though, don't get me wrong. I loved how the trash can in the home screen synced vibrations with the device whenever you delete a widget or shortcut, very nice animation, but I use GO Launcher by default.

----------------------------------------------------

Anyways...

~* Update *~

- Play Store: I got the search suggestions for the Play Store to work for a little while, but they stopped showing up again. I basically uninstalled and re-installed the apk.

- Skyvi: I think the solution to this would be to either copy the odexed apks "ttsservice.apk" and "picotts.apk" from the stock ROM or have someone deodex them since I've got no clue how to do that. I have not made an apk in my life, but plan to change that someday. :p

- Framework-res: The text that shows under menus in Settings is way too dark to read. My phone has automatic brightness in power saving mode since this phone was not meant to be at full brightness 24/7 (Except when watching videos :p) It would be better if the developer could use a brighter font since changing themes does not affect it.

- Battery Progress Icon When Powered-Off: No idea how to change this yet, but it should have not changed to begin with. When my phoned is turned off and is charging, All I get is a black screen (Looks as if its cracked a bit) with no icon displaying the charging progress of the battery.

Anything else, I will update this post. :)

having issues with the BT ... crashes everytime i try and connect with my car radio .. anyone got a solution to this ?

Need a bit more information about your problem. Does it happen only when you try pairing it with your car's radio? Try a different BT device and see if it works.

well i tried to pair it with , my car , ps vita , evo 4g , my headset and a bold 9700... all of em gave me "process com.android.settings stopped .... and also sometimes i will simply turn the BT on and it will stop, it is also able to be found and to find devices but crashes when trying to pair, also dont have any backups of this since i just got the phone and went straight thru with rooting and this rom

Big mistake. The first thing you need to do is do a nandroid backup of your whole phone before proceeding with flashing custom ROMs and doing things that might mess up some things on it.

Now, as far as your bluetooth crashing...

There are three apks that handle your bluetooth: "BluetoothOpp.apk", "BluetoothPbap.apk", "BrcmBlietoothServices.apk". If you are missing any of these in your "/system/app" folder, that might be the reason why it is crashing.

If you are not missing any of them, try reinstalling them through root explorer. However, before going anything further, use ClockWorkMod to create a Nandroid back up, or get TitaniumBackup and backup your system, apps, and data.

Good luck. :)

Well, now that playfulgod has a connect in hand to play with I'm pretty positive there will be some more rom love coming our way.

However, I don't want to take anything away from michealson, the broken out rom is still better than the stock rom despite its flaws. He did a great job, and did it without having access to the device. I don't regret flashing it at all
