Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

At least you can check to see it hasn't processed.... the check your order status pages is down for me.

I used the link in the confirmation email. Just checked it and it's working for me. I think I misspoke (typed?) before, it says, "We received your order and it is in process" but also says this: "Expected Ship Date: Not available at this time"

I'm okay with that, at least they know I'm here....

If it wasn't ready it would be coming a lot later than july 9th. The devices are sitting in a warehouse somewhere waiting for verizon to give the green light. If they weren't ready verizon would have never taken a preorder if it was 2+months away and was still having issues.

I am not sure I understand this. Sprint had an actual launch date and they delayed it because the phones were not ready. I have heard from a few different people yesterday its because of the processor, but still not confirmed.

Sprint and T mobile both had in-store launch dates but never had the devices. Phones do not sit inside of a warehouse for a month. Why would Verizon be any different? I personally just believe someone at Verizon did the math used some common sense and realized Samsung may have over reached a little bit and took a very conservative approach. And it works perfectly with the in house changes Verizon is making with the plans anyway.

Due to overwhelming demand for Galaxy S

My order status states, "Expected Ship Date: Not available at this time". If the release date was July 9th, I'd think it would state it. So its still up in the air as to when the ship date is. The 28th is also still a possibility then.

It does state it. I am not sure why everyone is confused about this. Is there another email confirmation saying something different?

Important information about your Samsung Galaxy S III
Congratulations and thank you for your Samsung Galaxy S III purchase. We know that you are anxiously awaiting the arrival of your new phone.
Unfortunately, our original confirmation email to you contained an incorrect Ship By Date of June 6; the actual ship date for your order is July 9.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We recognize that you have a choice in wireless service and thank you for choosing Verizon Wireless.

Just noticed this morning that VZ order tracking/confirmation site is down....maybe they are fixing it so it'll gives us a more accurate date.

I'm still not sure if it is a different version. If you go to the "SAFE2Switch" website, it has GS2, GS3, Note, and Nexus, but doesn't say they are special versions. Clicking on "More Info" takes you to the standard GS3 page.

Welcome to the forums, Cadis! :D :D <--- two grins since I missed you the first time ;)

EDIT: I haven't been in this thread since I pre-ordered, so I may not have been here when you joined... glad to have all you new folks at Android Forums, which now sports more than ONE MILLION registered members and growing every day! Relax, get comfortable and join in the fun!

Yay! Thanks :D

In related news, just like you all, I'm eagerly waiting. I dropped my Droid X two weeks ago and the screen is filled with black dots under the screen. Huge dots too :(

Folks, why dwell and keep checking order status on a device that we all know has zippy diddy zero to ship until July? I am bad for OCD, but some here make me seem sedate ;)

Ya I keep reading one thing that says its different but then I read something else that implies the same. My girlfriend has been trained on the device 3 different times by Samsung and has never heard of the enterprise version. So I really do believe its different.

Wouldn't her not hearing of an enterprise version imply that there is no enterprise version, that the normal version is the "SAFE" version?

I hope whatever "better" or "enhanced" (wording in press release) exchange activesync support is developed for this phone will also end up in the consumer version. I wonder if this is really marketing double-talk and the exchange support in the SAFE version is the same as the normal GSIII which is already "better/enhanced" over, ummm, something (stock android 1.0 perhaps?).

Edit: Looking at the www.samsungsafe2switch.com site, I don't see an option to "trade-up" from a GSIII, hmmmm...

Verizon is now showing a ship by date of 7/11 if you go to the page to order a phone.

Ya I had post on this a few pages back that there might be a third pre order date. This would be the third one. 3 batches 3 different days. You cant send out 10thousand phones all in one day. ( i don't know the real number) How many people pre-ordered on this site alone? anyway we can get that number? I think we have the time :)

Another shipment on the 11th sets up the date for the 12th as the in-store launch date. Presuming they ship this batch overnight. We have seen the Samsung couldn't keep up with sprints demand and Verizon has 3 times that base. Making the release date in July was actually a smart decision.

If I read one more post in the AT&T and Sprint threads about how their phones are on the truck out for delivery today, I am going to punch something - probably a Verizon sales person.

Welcome to AF, vlrenfro! My only advice in those regards is to not go in those threads :p

Yes they do. Look at the nexus launch they had units in warehouse long before it was released. Its how Verizon is they release it when they want no matter what other carriers do.

The nexus was first delayed because the of the LTE issue. Then delayed again because Verizon discovered they didn't like Google wallet. That is why they sat in a warehouse while they were trying to sort out that mess with Google. The galaxy S3 does not fall into this category. According to the Samsung rep for sprint the distribution team is working 24/7 to fill all orders for all carriers. They have not been shipped yet. Verizon supposedly have a handful of devices for testing.

Hey, part of the fun is waiting :) Kind of like Christmas when a kid, but for older geeks ;)

Well, that is my spin, since VZW is best case second week of July and nothing suggests otherwise- so far.......
